VSP: Suspect leads police on chase, crashes, swallows ‘unknown substance' in Hampton
HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A suspect wanted for federal firearm indictments out of Hampton was arrested on Thursday, according to Virginia State Police.
According to officials, just before 5 p.m., officers conducted a routine traffic stop on a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro for improper registration. Police were able to determine the driver, 28-year-old Evan Devon Boyd Jr., was wanted out of Hampton for federal firearm indictments and felony eluding charges.
Boyd refused to stop, resulting in a pursuit on the westbound lanes of I-64 at the 262 mile marker. While taking exit 261A, Boyd struck the guardrail, but continued on to the intersection of Hampton Roads Center Parkway and Big Bethel Road, where he crashed into a 2015 Ford Explorer, police said.
After striking the vehicle, Boyd exited the Camaro and attempted to flee the scene on foot, during which police said he 'ate and swallowed an unknown substance.' Boyd was caught a short time later, and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
The driver of the Ford was said to have non life-threatening injuries.
Boyd was served with the outstanding warrants, and charged with the following:
Felony eluding
Felony destruction of property
Possession of ammunition by a felon
Possession of schedule I/II narcotics
Felony hit-and-run
This arrest was in partnership between Virginia State Police and the Hampton Police Department and part of the Operation Bold Blue Line initiative which partners state and local law enforcement agencies to get illegal drugs and weapons off the streets.

The lawsuit also claims that security camera footage of the incident shows 'the plaintiffs, the gift recipient, and other students laughing, hugging, and engaging in friendly behavior,' and that the entire encounter lasted '2-3 minutes.' Missing Norfolk sailor found dead; sailor in pretrial confinement
A Norfolk-based sailor who went missing almost two weeks ago has been found dead, and another sailor is in pretrial confinement in connection with the case, Navy investigators said Tuesday. The body of Culinary Specialist Seaman Angelina Petra Resendiz, 21, was discovered Monday by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in a wooded area in Norfolk, Virginia, NCIS said in a statement. Resendiz, 21, assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer James E. Williams, disappeared May 29 after being last seen at her barracks in Miller Hall on Naval Station Norfolk. NCIS has placed a sailor in pretrial confinement in connection with Resendiz's death, with charges under the Uniform Code of Military Justice pending, the service confirmed. NCIS did not provide additional details, including the sailor's identity, citing an ongoing investigation. 'NCIS remains committed to uncovering the facts surrounding the tragic death of Seaman Resendiz to ensure accountability and justice,' NCIS said. After Resendiz vanished, the Virginia State Police issued a critically missing adult alert, hoping for the public's assistance in discovering her whereabouts. Publicist Kimberly Wimbish issued a statement to local media on behalf of the Resendiz family after a body was initially recovered and prior to the NCIS's confirmation that the body was that of Resendiz. Rapper Key Glock's entourage busted – with loaded Glocks – on way into Governors Ball: sources
Two members of rapper Key Glock's entourage were busted – both for packing loaded Glocks – as they made their way into the Governors Ball over the weekend, law enforcement sources and prosecutors said. Joshua Crutcher, 31, and Dion Michaels, 22 – part of the entourage of the Memphis-based rapper, who was set to perform at the famed New York City music festival – were cornered by security as they tried to enter the VIP area Sunday, the sources said. Both men were stopped in their tracks as they pulled up to Flushing Meadows Corona Park around 5 p.m., according to a complaint filed in Queens Criminal Court. 3 The two men, part of Key Glock's entourage, were busted Sunday with loaded Glocks as they tried to enter the Governors Ball, prosecutors and sources said.
