FURIOUS residents on the North Coast 500 have blasted campers who pitched their tents on a memorial site.
A group of tourists visited the Marie Curie Field of Hope in North Sutherland, one of the most northernly spots on the 516-mile tourist route.

The site is next to a viewpoint between Melvich and Strathy in the northern Highlands.
It is a small field with 2,000 flowers in a overlooks Strathy Point and Dunnet Head and the Orkney islands.
The field honours the work of Marie Curie Cancer Care and remembers people who have tragically lost their lives to the disease.
The site has also been used for people to scatter their loved ones ashes.
But a group of campers completely ignored the special nature of the site by using it to set up their tents.
An image of the field was posted on a local Facebook page.
It showed three tents pitched on top of the memorial flowers and a folding chair.
Locals were quick to express their anger at the campers.
One person said: "Lovely place to camp for the night in the Marie Curie Field of Hope outside Melvich.
"Ignorant people and then they wonder why locals don't welcome them.

"People have scattered loved ones ashes in there… just disgusting."
Another added: "That's a whole new level of disrespect."
A third local claimed they challenged the group, saying: "I'd have told them to move on - find somewhere else - huge disrespect."
A fourth commented: "That's ridiculous, do they have any idea of the grief they will cause people who have had their parents looked after by the Marie Curie trust? There's no need to use the spot."
A fifth resident branded their campsite "feral behaviour" while another said it was "appalling".
Another person said: "That's well over the line of decency, what on earth goes through their heads?
"Blatant disrespect and entitlement."

Country Living listed the English village as one of the most picturesque places to visit in the country, writing: "This quintessentially English village is known as the 'prettiest village in England'. But residents in Castle Combe in the Cotswolds say their patience is running thin as visitors from around the world continue to disturb their peace. Around 400 people call the chocolate box village home, while 150,000 tourists pack into the idyllic area annually. Speaking to the Express, Hilary Baker, 69, a former police officer and bed and breakfast owner, urged visitors: "Give us a little bit of consideration." She added that drones have even been flown over the village, "filming children", but pointed out that this has been less of an issue recently. Ms Baker said: "That's what caused everybody to go, 'This is now beyond reasonable.' "Because our children are precious, you don't know who's on the other end of the camera. Another problem, the resident noted, is younger people using "suction cups" to attach their phones to his windows in order for them to take a photo of themselves. "They think it's part of the set of Disneyland," one anonymous local seethed. Jean Boucher, 86, a retired teacher, says she does not have much trouble with visitors, as her house is raised above the main street. But she added: "The whole world is full of tourists being a nuisance. "There are more people travelling, I suppose, and people are obsessed with photographing everything now." Great Wolf Resorts is hoping to build a huge waterpark on the site of a golf course along with a hotel and adventure park complex - and work is set to start in 2028. There will also be an adventure trail, an arcade and bowling alley alongside the indoor waterpark. The waterpark itself will have multiple swimming pools and water slides where temperatures will be kept at 29C so it can be used all year round. On the site will also be restaurants, cafés and bars too. The website says that all the amenities will be available for local families to enjoy with day passes. The company behind the proposed waterpark is Great Wolf Resorts which operates 20 indoor water park resorts across the US and Canada. The Great Wolf Resort request states that the 'anticipated start of construction' for the resort has been set for 2028, with an 'expected duration of approximately two years'. The company has not set an exact date for the construction or the opening of the resort - but it could be open by 2030. It stated that it was 'reviewing multiple potential locations' which it has a 'strong interest in developing'. A spokesperson for Great Wolf Resorts said: "We've been exploring opportunities to expand our signature Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park resort experience beyond North America and we see exciting growth potential for Great Wolf Lodge in the UK. "We believe our resort would act as a catalyst for growth for the area, creating over 600 new, high-quality jobs and attracting more than half a million visitors to the borough each year, providing a significant economic boost and encouraging other leisure operators to invest in the area.' The area in Basingstoke isn't the only one that Great Wolf Resorts has its eye on.
