The first instance dates back to 26 November 2024, when Fernando addressed a group of Indians at his event. In the video, he says: 'I begin to see something… your national carrier was flying within your country… and this was a threat mid-air… you will hear it… this is mid-air issue."
Months later, on April 24 2025 — just 49 days before the crash — he issues another warning: 'Avoid red air craft body because this is mid in the air…"
Sharing the clip on X, Harsh Goenka wrote: 'Unbelievable, isn't it?" The video has since received over three lakh views and sparked mixed reactions online.
An X user, Dr Nilima Srivastava, criticised the claims, pointing out that Fernando was 'factually incorrect" as he mentioned a 'mid-air crash.' She wrote: 'The crash happened at takeoff. Red Body was easy to predict given the number of technical glitches Air India has faced ever since this Wilson fellow became CEO.'
She also noted past regulatory actions against the airline, stating: 'Air India fined ₹ 10 lakh for 'not complying with rules' in August 2024. In February 2025, Aviation safety regulator DGCA fined Tata Group-owned Air India ₹ 30 lakh for allowing a pilot to operate a flight without meeting necessary regulatory requirements."*
Another user, @hemant\_architec, responded with sarcasm: 'Airline companies should hire him to predict so they change colour or route and so on."
Pastor Jerome Fernando leads the Glorious Church in Sri Lanka and describes himself as a prophet of God. He is known to have a large following, including several Sri Lankan celebrities and cricketers.
In December 2023, Fernando was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) after claiming that the Buddha had been 'looking for Jesus,' a comment that drew widespread criticism in the majority-Buddhist nation.

Fishers stage rail roko in Ramnad, condemning arrest of Indian fishermen by Sri Lankan navy
RAMANATHAPURAM: As part of their ongoing indefinite strike against the arrest of Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy, hundreds of fishers, including women, staged a rail roko near Thangachimadam in Rameswaram on Tuesday evening. According to sources, train number 16104 Rameswaram-Tambaram Express departed from Rameswaram by 4:26 pm and was halted near the Thangachimadam level crossing at 4: 45 pm owing to the agitation. Ramanathapuram Superintendent of Police and district revenue officer interacted with the representatives of fishermen following which the agitators dispersed. Racket involving Sri Lankan passengers-Chennai airport staff busted; customs seizes Rs 2.5 cr gold
CHENNAI: After a brief hiatus, Chennai Customs on Monday busted another gold smuggling racket involving Sri Lankan transit passengers and a contract staff of the Chennai International Airport leading to the seizure of 2.57 kg gold worth Rs 2.5 crore and the arrest of five persons. The seizure comes after many smugglers started opting for other smuggling modes, following action against the aforesaid modus operandi in 2024, sources said. In a release, Customs said that they mounted surveillance on the transit area of the airport in the intervening night of August 17 and 18. The team found two SL passengers, who landed at 2 am by an Indigo flight, to be suspicious based on their 'weird' travel route of Dubai-Chennai-Singapore-Colombo with longer layovers at Chennai. On Monday, a contract ground handling staff was found loitering near the washroom in the transit area, which incidentally had been used by one of the SL passengers. Customs team intercepted the staff and seized three black-taped, unusually heavy cylindrical balls. On inquiry, the staff confessed that they were balls of gold paste, which were slipped to him by an SL passenger inside the washroom. Officers immediately rounded up three SL transit passengers and two of them admitted to concealing gold paste in their rectum and delivering it to the staff. Three cylindrical balls of gold were also seized after search, taking the total seizure to 2,576 gm of gold worth Rs 2.5 crore. In a follow-up action, the investigators used the contract staff as bait and sent him outside the airport, which resulted in the arrest of two Indians, one of whom was a handler and another a receiver at different locations outside the airport.
