Kate Middleton's go-to tinted SPF now comes in a dewy finish that's perfect for the mini heatwave

Daily Mirror01-05-2025
The Princess of Wales is said to rely on Laura Mercier's tinted SPF to protect her skin from the sun, and you can now get it in a dewy finish that's ideal for summer
If there's one person whose skincare routine we'd love to get the lowdown on, it's Kate Middleton 's. The Princess of Wales is notoriously secretive about exactly which beauty products she uses, but she was reportedly once spotted buying a certain tinted SPF at the Peter Jones department store in Chelsea, giving us a glimpse at the sunscreen she uses to keep her skin protected and youthful.
The SPF Princess Kate was picking up was Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturiser Natural Skin Perfector SPF 30, which helps create a flawless base whilst offering high protecting from the sun's rays. Although Kate's reported purchase is now sold out in almost every shade at every retailer, don't fret, because Laura Mercier also launched a dewy version which is now on sale at LookFantastic.
The Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Natural Dewy SPF 30 is usually priced at £39, but is currently available for £31.20, saving you 20%. Just like Kate's supposed buy, the dewy version combines skincare with makeup to help protect your skin whilst creating a smooth, flawless complexion.
Available in 19 different shades, the Tinted Moisturiser Natural Dewy works to highlight your skin's natural appearance, rather than hide it. It has a sheer-to-light coverage, and is ideal for days where you want a natural-looking no-makeup makeup look.
Despite its sheer coverage, it gives you up to 16 hours of smoothing and brightening effects, and combines skincare and makeup to help soothe and hydrate your skin for up to 24 hours after wearing it. The Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser contains raspberry leaf extract and probiotics, which hydrate, cool and refresh your skin, making it ideal for those hot sunny days.
Grape pomance also helps to smooth and reduce the appearance of texture, whilst its white rose extract gives you skin some extra nourishment. The SPF 30 offers broad spectrum protection from the sun's damaging rays and environmental aggressors.
LookFantastic shoppers have given it a 4.69 star rating, with one saying: 'First time buying and this is a great tinted moisturiser, I like the texture and it has a good amount of coverage. Also an added benefit of the spf is always great.'
Another added: 'I like the formula. It's not patchy or dry and last long day. It has spf 30 which is great. It gives my skin a natural glow look, recommend.'
In fact, there's only one review lower than a four star rating, with someone saying: 'The colour match was good but the product doesn't sit well on my nose.'
If you want a higher SPF protection, the Ultra Violette Daydream Screen SPF50 Tinted Veil, £38, is a great option. It has slightly more coverage, and comes in a broad range of shades to suit all skin tones.
Alternatively, the Supergoop! Protec(tint) Daily Skin Tint SPF50 has a lighter, buildable coverage whilst still offering SPF 50 protection. It also contains zinc oxide combined with ectoin to protect the skin against the sun's rays, radiation, pollution and blue light.

Mother of God! Adrian's praying that Ted survives in Line Of Duty: EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE

Rumours that William and Kate want to 'upsize' to Fort Belvedere in Windsor Great Park are wide of the mark. Upsizing could make life difficult for William. He is in the midst of a campaign to 'eradicate homelessness ' – a vision sometimes stymied by his own surplus bedrooms. Apart from his relatively humble four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage at Windsor, he has Anmer Hall in Norfolk and a 20-room apartment at Kensington Palace. He will inherit a lot more. As well as being in line for the keys to Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, the future king also gains Clarence House, Balmoral, Birkhall, Sandringham and, via The King's Foundation charity, Dumfries House, the Castle of Mey and property in Romania. That's a lot of bedrooms for a family of five. Far-fetched claims that the Queen Mother 's heroic alcohol consumption gave Princess Margaret foetal alcohol syndrome focuses attention on the thirsty royal's daily booze intake. At 6pm, she would ask equerry Major Colin Burgess: 'Colin, are we at the magic hour?', kickstarting the evening with three Martinis followed by champagne during dinner. 'She had a fondness for red wine, particularly heavy clarets, which she loved,' recalled Burgess. 'We drank a bottle and a half at my first meeting with her.' Adrian Dunbar, pictured, admits to apprehension about receiving Jed Mercurio 's script for the seventh series of the BBC 's Line Of Duty, telling Radio Times: 'We're desperately keen to hear what the story is. One of the shocking things that I realised after series two was that the writer can just do away with you.' Will Adrian be praying for survival to Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey? The tinted moisturiser loved by Jennifer Aniston – yours, for £98

I have never really bothered with tinted moisturisers. It's not that I didn't see the appeal – I love the idea of a hybrid make-up product that shaves time off my morning routine and promises the look of real skin, only better. The problem was, until recently, most of the products that fell into the 'tinted moisturiser' category were either too foundation-like in finish or so sheer I'd still need a proper concealer to do the heavy lifting under my eyes, or for any areas of redness. Then there's the textures, which would slip and slide all over the place so that my skin would be a shiny mess come midday. (And that's without any summer heatwaves.) But my mind has been changed. The old-fashioned tinted moisturiser has been reimagined, with utterly brilliant 'skin tints' now part of the wider family. Take Lisa Eldridge's Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint (£37, Liberty), which launched last year. I am a huge fan of most of Eldridge's make-up products, and this tint gives enough coverage to even out the skin tone without looking cakey. A couple of drops are all you need, but if you feel you require more, it is truly buildable. I find this is best applied with a brush, starting from the centre of the face and working your way out, depending on how much you want to use. A pricier option is the Super Tinted Hydrator by U Beauty (£98, Cult Beauty), which Jennifer Aniston recently declared one of her summer beauty must-haves. Having tried it, I agree it's brilliant, but at almost £100 it's an awful lot to spend on a skin tint. If you're considering it, think of this product as a really effective face cream with added make-up as a bonus. It is supremely moisturising, so I would skip your ordinary face cream and just apply this (over sun protection in the daytime, of course). One pump is plenty for your whole face. The option I've been really taken with of late is the Hydro Grip Gel Tint by Milk Makeup (£34, Boots). It's an extension of the brand's bestselling Hydro Grip Primer, which is one of the best primers on the market (it really does allow your make-up to stay in place all day). The tint is equally impressive: it grips on to the skin, making it particularly good in warmer weather, and imparts a decent amount of coverage. It feels fresh and hydrating, too, and if you are really keen to ensure that your make-up looks as good at the end of the day as it does in the morning, sandwich this product in between the primer and the brand's Hydro Grip setting spray. This has become my go-to complexion technique when the weather hits the 30s in London. Now, I can't write about skin tints without mentioning the Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint Hydrating Foundation Stick by Charlotte Tilbury (£35, John Lewis). If you're a fan of Tilbury's award-winning Hollywood Flawless Filter – the sheeny lotion that comes in a glass bottle and imparts a glowy finish on the skin – I'd say that this is a portable stick version of it. It doesn't give tons of coverage, but then it doesn't need to: it gives the skin a blurring, luminous, hydrated look. In other words, you're left with a complexion that appears smooth and well-rested. When I spoke to her at the product's launch, Tilbury advised that I try a shade deeper than my usual colour in her foundations for a more summery, bronzed effect. And because the coverage is sheer, it works a treat. No filter required. Three more to try

'I was set on fire aged 3 - 300 surgeries later, a special gift has given me my life back'

A woman who experienced a freak horror accident at the age of three has thanked the tattoo artist who helped heal her trauma with a special design - and has nominated her for a Pride of Britain award A mum who tattoos beautiful designs over scar tissue to give people back their confidence has been nominated for a Pride of Britain award. ‌ Artist Kate Challinor, who is based in Leeds, has been praised by her friend Sarah Allum, 49, after she was gifted an arm tattoo through Kate's charity, the Inkredible Foundation, to cover up extensive burns from a freak childhood accident. ‌ Mum of two Kate, 46, suffered years of surgeries due to her own health issues, which left her with permanent scarring. ‌ 'I wouldn't have had the confidence to go somewhere to have my scars covered,' she says. With the encouragement of a friend, she decided to teach herself how to use a tattoo gun. After 12 months of practise, she was ready for her first client: a pal who was left with scarring after having a single mastectomy to treat breast cancer. ‌ After two years of freelancing, Kate launched the Inkredible Foundation in May 2023 - a charity that offers tattoos of any size to cover scars, completely for free. And in the short time since its launch, Kate has tattooed more than 70 women left with surgical scars that were having a ''detrimental effect'' on their daily lives. Kate says: 'It's about making them feel beautiful again. Every scar has got its own story. Everyone who comes through the door, if they've got a scar, they've usually got trauma. They want to heal from their trauma, and having the tattoo is just part of that.' ‌ She adds: 'Some of these ladies, especially the breast cancer survivors, wouldn't let their husbands see them naked again, so it's lovely helping them get their confidence back. Their husbands love me! 'We should be proud of our scars. Usually they're a result of surviving something; they're a reminder to us to celebrate what we've overcome.' Sarah Allum found out about the charity and, in October 2024, travelled from her home in Cornwall to meet Kate and to start the two-day process of covering the third-degree burn scars on her right arm and shoulder. ‌ 'I was set on fire aged three and sustained 46% third-degree full thickness burns,' she tells the Mirror. 'I've had more than 300 surgeries to date on my burns, which cover the right side of my body; my chin, neck, chest, torso, right arm, underarm and shoulder. ‌ 'It's basically most of my right side - front side, and back from my chin and hip.' Sarah was thrilled with the results of Kate's work and the positive impact it has had on her mental health. 'I'm more outgoing in myself,' she smiles. 'I'm happier. My kids have noticed the difference, too. This is the first summer in my life I have felt good wearing a short-sleeved top. 'After my early trauma, I can never overstate what a huge step mentally that has been for me - and I have Kate to thank.' ‌ Sarah has nominated Kate as a Local Hero in the 2025 Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards with P&O Cruises. 'Kate has her own health struggles, yet she puts 110% into everything she does,' Sarah added. 'She has gifted so many people with tattoos that change people's lives in such a positive way. ‌ 'I was one of those lucky people. The confidence she has given me is fantastic. I owe this beautiful lady the world for what she has gifted me.' Kate adds: 'I'm honoured and touched that I've been nominated for a Pride of Britain award, that's lovely to me that someone believes in me that much.' The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards with P&O Cruises honour the nation's unsung heroes, with the star-studded celebration screened every year on ITV.
