Verdansk is coming back to Call of Duty Warzone, but fans want more than just the map; they want all the old mechanics to return, too.
The original Warzone map, Verdansk, will be live again on April 3, just after the game's fifth anniversary. This news was announced last year, but now we have a new cinematic trailer where we see soldiers dropping into the forested outskirts of the iconic city to the tune of Nat King Cole's Unforgettable. It's a lovely trailer and evokes all those memories of squading up with our friends during the pandemic.
The map was changed just over a year after the game came out, during the Destruction of Verdansk event that ended with the map being nuked. We could then go back to the '80s for Verdansk '84, but it's not quite the same.
Many fans are incredibly happy Verdansk is coming back. I recently wrote about how Battlefield 6's trailer proves we long for a return to simpler days for shooters, and this reaction just shows how correct I really was. People don't just want the visuals of Verdansk, though; they want the original Warzone back.
"Honestly just open the Warzone 1 server, the map is not the only thing we loved. We loved the mechanics, the simplicity," writes one commenter. "We don't just want Verdansk back. We want everything back. The movement, the mechanics, the graphics, the sounds, the vehicles. We want OG Warzone. The game that made us stay up all night," agrees another.
Fortnite brought its OG mode back as a permanent staple, so there's a chance Warzone could do the same, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Nintendo denies Switch 2 report claiming that Japanese retailers are getting a bigger cut of each sale following a timely drop in stocks and shares

Nintendo has publicly debunked a report claiming that the company is allowing Japanese retailers to earn more from each Nintendo Switch 2 console sold. While the Nintendo Switch 2 looks poised to be a success no matter how you shake it, Nintendo has taken some unconventional approaches to the launch of its new console. For example, a Japanese-only version of the console which is selling for 20,000 Yen less than the multi-language version. Even the Mario Kart World bundle is a bit of an unconventional choice, since the last Nintendo console to come bundled with a game at launch was the Wii back in 2006 (and even then, Wii Sports was only a pack-in after Reggie Fils-Amié fought for it). Just ahead of the Nintendo Switch 2 launching later this week, Bloomberg reported that Nintendo would be giving a bigger cut of every Nintendo Switch 2 sold to retailers. "Store operators will be able to make a gross margin of about 5% on each Switch 2 sold, higher than the informal industry standard of roughly 2%" the report said, adding "The decision will help bolster domestic retailers and ensure the new console is given prominent placement at outlets across the country." Around four hours later, Nintendo took to Twitter to debunk the rumour: "A news report related to the wholesale price of Nintendo Switch 2 in the Japanese market was published. We want to clarify that this report is not true. Nintendo does not disclose any information regarding business conditions with distribution and retail partners."While Nintendo is well known for not commenting on rumours, on Monday (when this report was published) Nintendo shares dropped which likely led the publisher to make a public statement about the report. The 'wistful' prediction Carole Middleton had for her family that daughter-in-law Alizée made a reality

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. For Carole Middleton, who saw one daughter become the future queen and another start up her own happy family, her job as a mom seems mostly done. However, there was still one "wistful" prediction she had involving her son, James Middleton, and his partner, Alizée Thevenet, that would turn out coming true. The Middleton family were thrust into the spotlight after Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding in 2011. Ever since that monumental day, the Princess of Wales' family have proven themselves to be popular fixtures in the press, attending major events like King Charles' Coronation or winning fans of their own through Pippa Middleton's chic outfits or James' successful business ventures. As for Carole and Michael, the grandparents of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have stepped up and proven "indispensable" to keeping the family unit together - and while she's discreet with her family's personal details, she occasionally offers rare glimpses. One such example came in December 2018 when her "hope" for her son James and Alizée Thevenet was revealed. Speaking about her children and their partners, the she expressed a desire to have a "lovely" daughter-in-law. Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family by Tom Quinn, | Was $29.95, Now $24.20 at Amazon Bringing together historical sources with palace staff testimonies, Tom Quinn delves into what it's really like to grow up in the Royal Family. This account includes tales of royal mischievousness, including those about Queen Elizabeth and Prince William, and it's shocking, funny and insightful all at Deal Carole divulged to The Telegraph that her biggest fear as Kate, Pippa and James grew up was that she'd "lose [her] family" but she happily confirmed that they've "stayed close". "I have two lovely sons-in-law and," she said before adding, in what the publication pondered could be a "wistful note", "I hope I'll have a lovely daughter-in-law." That same month as Carole shared her heartfelt hope for James, he and Alizée were photographed attending the Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund's Christmas Carol Service at St Luke's Church. At the time Alizée made a concerted effort to keep her face away from the cameras and it wasn't until May 2019 that James shared his first picture of them as a couple publicly on Instagram. It was just five months later in October 2019 the Princess of Wales's brother confirmed the news that Carole had been wishing for - that he and Alizée were engaged and she was going to have a "lovely daughter-in-law". James and Alizée first met at the South Kensington Club, reportedly in the summer of 2018, and he famously credited his late spaniel Ella for introducing them. "Ella was lying at my feet under the table; realising she might want some water, I trusted her to take herself over to the water bowl across the terrace. However, she made a beeline for Alizée," he wrote in The Telegraph in 2021. "Rather embarrassed, I went over to apologise and bring Ella back. But Alizée thought I was the waiter and ordered her drink while continuing to stroke Ella, who at this point was on her back lapping up the attention." James added, "Little did I know, but I had just met my future wife, all thanks to Ella." James and Alizée's wedding took place in September 2021, with the couple tying the knot in France, surrounded by their nearest and dearest including William and Kate. For Mother's Day in 2023, James shared a special photo of himself with Carole which reports have suggested could have been taken on his wedding day, with some claiming that he appears to be wearing the same suit. James and Alizée have since welcomed their first child - a baby boy named Inigo, born September 21, 2023. James treats fans to rare glimpses into his private life with his wife, son and animals. Most recently, to celebrate his 38th birthday, James shared snippets of Alizee, Inigo and his pets soaking up country life, writing, "Fresh air, wagging tails, and the wild, beautiful rhythm of family life."

I'm convinced, The Young and the Restless' Aristotle Dumas has to be Cane

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The streets of Genoa City continue to whisper the name of Aristotle Dumas, and yet, almost no one on The Young and the Restless canvas knows who he is. Sure, word around town is that he wants to acquire Chancellor, but the true identity of the tycoon remains a mystery. However, The Young and the Restless writers have dropped enough breadcrumbs to lead me to believe that Aristotle Dumas is actually Cane Ashby. Although the rumor has been floating around social media for a while, it wasn't until The Young and the Restless episode from April 2 that I jumped on the Cane bandwagon. In the episode, Jack (Peter Bergman) briefly stated that Aristotle arrived on the business scene about five or six years ago. That may not sound like a big deal initially, but doing some research, Cane (Daniel Goddard) was last spotted in Genoa City in 2019, which was five or six years ago. Cane has a history of running cons, and he learned from the best conman he knows, his father. It's perfectly reasonable to assume that in his time offscreen, he managed to amass a fortune to somehow build an empire. Months ago, Victor (Eric Braeden) informed Lily (Christel Khalil) that Aristotle had been looking into Winters, prior to Damian's (Jermaine Rivers) arrival on the scene, and before Nate (Sean Dominic) came to learn that Damian is his half-brother. I found that odd at the time of the reveal, and my suspicions were only compounded when Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) blew back into town. When she popped back up in town and met with Lily, Devon and Nate, she revealed herself to be Aristotle's lawyer and the only person to know his identity. She assured the trio that Aristotle has absolutely no desire to take over Winters, as he has nothing but a deep admiration for the company. Interestingly enough, Amanda claimed that Aristotle admired Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) very much and believes Winters 'perfectly embodies Neil's approach to business.' Additionally, Aristotle reportedly thinks that Neil would be very proud of Lily, Devon and Nate. If you ask me, the entire sentiment sounds like it's coming from someone who knew Neil personally, and given Cane was his son-in-law for years, we'd say Cane fits the bill. If Aristotle really does have an appreciation for the Winters family and is on a quest to take over Chancellor, I think it all boils down to Lily. I think it's entirely possible that Cane is Aristotle and would like to acquire Chancellor as a big gesture to win her back. It's no secret that Lily was crushed after Billy fired her from Chancellor, and further enraged when she aligned with Victor and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) to get back into the CEO chair, only to be double-crossed. Cane was likely upset to hear all this news. Since Lily is arguably the love of his life, Cane could be trying to acquire Chancellor to give it to her to run, not only to prove his love, but to show that he believes she should be running the business. The idea isn't far-fetched, especially when you think of the lengths Victor went to in order to get the company for Nikki. I also found it rather interesting that in The Young and the Restless episode from May 30, while Lily ate dinner with Damian, she brought up her romance history with Cane. It sounds like foreshadowing of Cane's return to me. Now if you're into other realms of the soap world, then you know the original Cane potrayer, Goddard, is currently starring in General Hospital as a dubious professor. So if I'm right about my Cane theory, Goddard may not be available to reprise his role. Thankfully, Days of Our Lives star Billy Flynn is set to make a debut on The Young and the Restless soon. Given his role hasn't been disclosed as of publication, it's entirely possible that Flynn plays a new version of Cane. With Rory Gibson crushing it as the new Michael on General Hospital, I won't rule out the possibility that a new actor can add some excitement to a veteran character. New episodes of The Young and the Restless air weekdays on CBS. Episodes become available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day.
