King Charles orders £160k electric car from Norfolk brand
King Charles is adding a new electric car to his collection of motors - and it is being made by a Norfolk company.
The King has ordered a Lotus Eletre in a royal claret colour to use as his new run-around car on one of his country estates.
The 164mph vehicle will be made by Lotus which has been based at Hethel near Wymondham since 1966.
Prices start at around £90,000 for the car, with the King's bespoke order costing around £160,000.

"The fact that Lotus can produce an electric SUV in royal claret really puts them in the driving seat.
"The Royal Family had a Lotus Eletre last year on loan and it clearly ticked some boxes."

The Royal Family has access to several Rolls-Royce Phantoms and Bentley State Limousines, the latter of which became more popular in the early 21st century.
The Spirit of Ecstacy, gifted to the Queen in 2002, is armoured and blast-resistant and rides on Kevlar-reinforced tyres. This car is reportedly valued at £10 million.
Prince Philip, also a lover of cars, crashed his Land Rover Freelander in January 2019 just miles away from the Sandringham Estate.

The 97-year-old Duke's Freelander overturned and came to rest on the driver's side.
Eyewitnesses said the Duke was pulled from the car by passersby and although shocked and shaken, he was uninjured.

Lotus cars have been used in many films during the last few decades.
James Bond famously drove his S1 Esprit off the pier in Sardinia to escape the villain Anya Amasova and then used his built-in missiles to destroy her helicopter in The Spy Who Loved Me, released in 1977.
The Esprit also made it back into Bond's hands in For Your Eyes Only, released in 1981.

The producers initially sought a Ferrari, but both Ferrari and Porsche declined to provide vehicles, and Lotus then stepped in with three cars for the movie.
More recently, a Lotus Evora was used in the 2013 film adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's novel The Host, where the cars were wrapped in a chrome finish and fitted with special lighting effects.
In the action film Red 2, which stars Bruce Willis and John Malkovich, a blue Lotus Exige S sports car was used.

Lotus Emira update promises ride and handling boost
The Lotus Emira has been updated with a series of refinements that promise to bring both a more engaging drive and greater levels of comfort. The Emira V6 SE (priced from £96,500) gets retuned dampers and new alignment settings that are said to improve both its ride and handling. Its manual gearbox also gets new mounts that are intended to improve the precision of gearchanges. Autocar previously found it prone to hesitation when slotting the gearlever into higher ratios when rushing a shift. Meanwhile, the Mercedes-AMG-powered four-cylinder Emira Turbo (from £79,500) gets a reworked dual-clutch automatic gearbox that is said to change gears more quickly and be smoother in its delivery. Both versions get updated cooling systems with rerouted lines, improving flow to the gearbox oil cooler and the main radiator. Lotus said this reduces temperatures and sheds weight, although it has yet to specify how much lighter the new Emira is. It has also recalibrated the engine thermostat so that it doesn't open until 75deg C – up 10deg C on its current specification – to improve performance in hotter climes. As well as technical updates, Lotus has introduced a new Racing Line trim for both the Turbo and V6 models. Driver in Fatal Collision With Mike Lynch's Business Partner 2 Days Before Superyacht Sank Can't be Named, Coroner Rules
The driver of the car that struck and killed Stephen Chamberlain, the business partner of Mike Lynch, two days before the tycoon's superyacht sank, cannot be named, a coroner has ruled. Chief financial officer Chamberlain was the co-defendant in a massive fraud trial in the United States alongside tech billionaire Lynch, with both being acquitted of all charges before they died last August. Chamberlain was out running near his Cambridgeshire home on Aug. 17, 2024 and was crossing a country road between two parts of a bridleway when he was struck by a Vauxhall car that had crested a humpback bridge, an inquest heard on Tuesday. The 52-year-old was a longtime associate of Lynch, who died after the Bayesian superyacht Chamberlain sustained an 'unsurvivable' traumatic head injury when the car hit him on the A1123 near Stretham, Cambridgeshire, and died three days later after his life support was withdrawn. Cleared of 15 Charges Chamberlain and Lynch were cleared of 15 charges of fraud and conspiracy last June following a high-profile trial at a federal court in San Francisco, California. Chamberlain's widow Karen said in a statement that her husband took up running following the charges as a way to counteract stress. The coroner directed that the female driver of the car should not be named at the hearing in Alconbury Weald, Cambridgeshire. The driver said in a statement summarised by area coroner Caroline Jones that as she 'approached the bridge she proceeded down the incline' and a man 'suddenly emerged into the road.' She said she saw Chamberlain 'looking to his left away from her and only looked to his right just before the collision,' and had 'braked hard and steered to the nearside,' but 'he was too close' and the car struck him. The coroner said the driver had been driving within the 60 mph speed limit as she drove to a nearby market. HP acquired Cambridge-based Autonomy, founded by Lynch in 1996, for $11 billion, but later found its true value was $2.2 billion and asked the U.S. Justice Department to investigate, claiming its value had been artificially inflated. Chamberlain, a former vice president of finance at the company, was also accused of making false and misleading statements to auditors, analysts, and regulators in 2018, in addition to the charges related to the sale of the company. Lynch, who was made an OBE for services to enterprise in 2006, was extradited to the United States for trial following a High Court battle and the intervention on his behalf by a number of MPs, including Sir David Davis. Worth an estimated £850 million, Lynch was a former adviser to then-Prime Minister David Cameron and sat on the board of many high profile organisations, including the BBC. 'And very sadly they were taken away from us,' she said, alluding to the fact that Lynch and her husband had died within a day of each other. An Italian investigation into the sinking of the Bayesian is ongoing, with the vessel still submerged. Following a £1 million, six-week overhaul, one of Camberwell's favourite locals is poised to raise the shutters once more. The Sun of Camberwell, on Coldharbour Lane, will reopen today (June 6) boasting a brand-new kitchen, refreshed interiors, and landscaped outdoor spaces after the major investment from Urban Pubs and Bars. Inside, the upgraded kitchen will serve a seasonal British menu focused on quality ingredients. The Sun remains open seven days a week and is also home to The Parlour, a private hire space, which can host up to 40 guests and includes access to the main bar and garden. Urban Pubs and Bars is London's largest independent pub and dining group, known for managing neighbourhood venues across the capital.
