While point guard Doncic initially seemed to have been caught off guard, he's been taking the transition in his stride. Landing in Los Angeles means stepping into a city where fashion and status go hand in hand – especially in a locker room that includes some of the league's most style-conscious players, from Jarred Vanderbilt to the father-son duo of LeBron and

No doubt Doncic will get his threads up to scratch, but in the meantime the 25-year-old Slovenian can rely on his covetable watch collection as he walks the halls of the Crypto.com Arena on game day.
Here's a closer look at some of the standout pieces Doncic has been spotted wearing throughout his career.

Doncic's most recent addition appears to be an openworked, 18K yellow gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, which he wore to his first press conference for the Lakers in the wake of the shock trade. This supercharged version of the AP classic features a blackened inner bezel with applied yellow gold hour markers, with the openworked construction unveiling blackened bridges dotted with burgundy-toned gems. Subtle yet undeniably extravagant, this is a timepiece fit for a debut with a legacy team and retails for US$101,000.

Doncic appears to have a knack of picking watches that slyly nod to his team's colours: a stylish way to show his loyalty off the court. Arriving at the 2024 NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis, he rocked another special edition Audemars Piguet Royal Oak – this one an 18K frosted white gold chronograph with the brand's 'Grand Tapisserie' dial in a smoked blue whimsically named 'Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50', mirroring the Dallas Mavericks' royal blue and silver motif. Another six-figure stunner, it's valued at more than US$102,000.

HK scores an ace with Ultimate Tennis Showdown
HK scores an ace with Ultimate Tennis Showdown Michael Cheng, third left, says the UTS format is a perfect match for Hong Kong. Photo: RTHK Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) will make its Asian debut in Hong Kong. The international individual tennis league tournament will be held at Kai Tak Sports Park on October 14 and 15. Chief operating officer Baptiste Kern said fans had been asking for the tournament to expand to Asia and that Hong Kong has great venues like the new Kai Tak Sports Stadium. "What we are trying to create with UTS is a form of NBA of tennis, where it's very serious tennis, very high-quality matches [and] very high intensity and at the same time a very fun and fan-friendly atmosphere," he said. UTS has a slightly different format than most typical tennis matches, with timed matches and players playing quarters rather than sets. "Basically you have 45 minutes of packed tennis as opposed to longer matches with long breaks," Kern said, adding that fans are encouraged to cheer and players can talk to coaches and fans during changeover. Eight players, including Chinese tennis star Zhang Zhizhen, will be competing for the Zeus trophy and an estimated price money of more than US$300,000. Hong Kong, China Tennis Association president Michael Cheng says the UTS format is a perfect match for Hong Kong with its corporate, entertainment, cultural and fashion fusion. "I think there's a lot of significance in bringing something which is novel to Hong Kong and creating, building and shaping Hong Kong as a tennis hub, a mega-event capital in the region and in Greater Bay." Cheng says he expects the event to sell out quickly in Hong Kong, emphasising the need to build tennis novelty and brand for Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. "It also sends a very clear signal that every financial hub around the world there are tennis events, and so does Hong Kong, and we are able to provide very good events." Ticket prices will range from almost HK$400 to almost HK$1,600, with public sales starting on August 4 via HK Ticketing.

Pogacar captures fourth career Tour de France title
Pogacar captures fourth career Tour de France title Pogacar was spared any late challenge to his overall lead on his way to his title defence. Photo: Reuters Tadej Pogacar has completed a supreme performance to win the Tour de France in a rainy Paris, crushing his rivals to collect a fourth title. Wout van Aert triumphed in the final-day cliffhanger around Montmartre, but Pogacar was spared any late challenge to his overall lead when the weather forced organisers to neutralise times to avoid accidents on the slippery cobbled roads. However, Pogacar more than played his part in a thrilling finale before Belgian rider Van Aert pulled away on the last climb. "I was really happy they neutralised the times of the GC (general classification)," Pogacar said. "Then it was more relaxed to race and you just had to have good legs to be in front. I tried but hats off to Wout, he was incredibly strong. It was a really nice race." The Slovenian has now won the Tour four times in six years and finished runner-up twice. "It's six years in a row on the podium and this one feels especially amazing," he said. Second-placed Jonas Vingegaard was unable to contend with Pogacar, but the winner paid tribute to the Dane. "I spoke to Jonas today. We've been racing each other for five years now and we have raised each other to a higher level," he said. Despite the rain, tens of thousands of spectators packed Montmartre to follow Pogacar's progress through the narrow streets of the popular tourist spot. He played to the delighted crowds by racing to the head of the peloton near the Moulin Rouge cabaret at the foot of the climb before Van Aert produced a well-timed attack to drop Pogacar and charge to the finish line on the Champs-Elysees avenue. Pogacar was fourth on the day but after wins in 2020, 2021 and 2024, he again proved untouchable in the world's greatest bike race. Vingegaard, the champion in 2022 and 2023, suffered two shocking off-days and ended second overall, 4 minutes and 24 seconds adrift. "I had some of my worst days here and some of the best," he said after the race, adding he would turn his attention to the Tour of Spain. "I'll have a week off now, and then start training for the Vuelta," he added. Breakout German star Florian Lipowitz, 24, took third on his debut, rounding out the podium a distant 11 minutes off the pace in third. Defending his title, Pogacar embarked from the start in Lille as clear favourite and won four stages along the way. In the first week, he struck on rolling runs in the north and west at Rouen and the Mur de Bretagne. He then turned the screw on the slopes of the Pyrenees in week two with his rivals as good as vanquished. Vingegaard suffered on the stage-five time trial, and again in the second week at the Hautacam mountain, leaving the Dane in shock as his form abandoned him. In need of a massive turn around in the Alps, Pogacar adopted mature tactics and sat on his rival's wheel. After it was all over, a beaming Pogacar said he could finally relax. "Everybody has different ideas about how to celebrate. I want some peace and beautiful weather, enjoying some quiet days at home," he said. (AFP)

Chinese centre Yang Hansen to skip Fiba Asia Cup to focus on developing game with Portland
Mainland Chinese social media users heaped praise on the Chinese Basketball Association after the governing body announced on Thursday that promising young centre Yang Hansen would not participate in the national team's training camp or the 2025 Fiba Asia Cup, allowing him to focus on his development with the Portland Trail Blazers. Advertisement Yang, the No 16 pick at last month's NBA Draft, will attend two short training camps hosted by the Trail Blazers beginning on August 11. 'After finishing his NBA Summer League stint, Chinese men's basketball player Yang Hansen immediately reported to head coach Guo Shiqiang about his experience in the draft combine and Summer League in the United States,' the Chinese Basketball Association said in a statement. 'He applied to the national team and the Chinese Basketball Association, hoping to participate in two short-term training camps organised by the Portland Trail Blazers starting on August 11 in order to better integrate with his new team and further improve his skills. These camps are designed for rookies and players who need continued development based on their Summer League performance.' The association added that the scheduling conflict between the Trail Blazers' camps and the Fiba Men's Asia Cup, held at Jeddah from August 5 to 17, prompted a decision to prioritize Yang's long-term development. Yang Hansen said he had learned a lot from playing in in four NBA Summer League games. Photo: AP Basketball fans on social media said in unison the CBA 'deserved praises' for their decisions.
