Punjab: Govt installs new signboards with Mann's image outside rebranded Ayushman Kendras
According to sources, the health department has installed two signboards at each location, with an estimated cost of ₹4,850 per signboard. The purpose, officials say, is to help people easily locate and access the health facilities.
Earlier, the Union ministry of health and family welfare had halted NHM funds to Punjab, citing objections to the state-specific branding of centrally funded clinics. Following the MoU, the Punjab government rebranded 628 out of 881 AACs as Ayushman Arogya Kendras and removed Mann's image from clinic buildings. However, with the installation of these new signboards outside the premises of Ayushman Kendras, the state has reintroduced Mann's image in the public view near the health centres.
A senior health official said, 'The decision has been taken by the state government. Following orders, we have installed directional signboards outside all Ayushman Arogya Kendras and Aam Aadmi Clinics. This will help people locate the health centres.'
Before the Aam Aadmi Party came to power, these centres were known as health and wellness centres under a central government initiative.

Bhopal: The MP directorate of medical education (DME) released an updated First Round Allotment for MP State Combined NEET UG Counselling 2025 on Wednesday. In this allocation, 4,232 MBBS seats and 931 BDS seats were distributed. The announcement followed DME's earlier decision to remove 100 BDS seats from the counselling process. This reduction occurred after the Union health ministry instructed against student admissions at Guru Govind Singh College of Dental Science and Research Centre, Burhanpur for the 2025-26 academic session. The timing of the ministry's directive — issued four days before counselling but apparently not acted upon until after allotments were made — had sparked criticism. Out of the top 300 MP State Quota rankers, around 130 were allotted this college. It's the most preferred institution, chosen by nearly 43% of top candidates. Around 90 top rankers opted for GMC Bhopal, making it the second most preferred college — chosen by 30% of the top 300. The updated allocation results are now accessible on Students with highest rankings received placements at renowned institutions including Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore, and GMC, Bhopal. Overall MBBS seat selection remained unchanged, with only minor reallocations in private colleges. NEET UG dental counselling derails after Centre order
Bhopal: Just a day after it began, the first round of State Combined Counselling was cancelled by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) here on Tuesday. The move came after a letter from the Union ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW) dental education section, dated Aug 14, 2025 that ordered the cessation of admissions at Guru Govind Singh College of Dental Science and Research Centre , Burhanpur. The timing of the ministry's directive - issued four days before counselling began but apparently not acted upon until after allotments were made - has sparked criticism from students and education advocates. With 100 BDS seats now removed from the matrix, the entire first round of allotments has been scrapped. "In view of the above the allotment of first round declared on Aug 18 stands cancelled. Fresh allotment result after removing 100 BDS seats in Guru Govind Singh College of Dental Science and Research centre, Burhanpur will be declared on Aug 20 and admission process will restart from 3 PM on Wednesday. Ayush industry steadily moving towards $200 bn target: Union Minister
New Delhi: The Ayush industry is steadily moving towards the $200 billion target, said Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush. He said this while chairing the first Parliamentary Consultative Committee Meeting for the Ministry of Ayush in the national capital. Jadhav highlighted that for the first time since the Ministry of Ayush became an independent ministry in 2014 under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a dedicated Parliamentary Consultative Committee has been established. 'This important step will help ensure focused discussions, better attention to Ayush-related matters, and stronger policy direction. It will further enhance the Ministry's role in promoting a more holistic and globally recognised healthcare system,' the MoS said. 'Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Ayush has grown rapidly with a strong network of research councils, statutory bodies, and national institutes. Through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and the National Ayush Mission, health services are reaching millions, while the Ayush industry is steadily moving towards the $200 billion target,' he added. Jadhav also hailed the International Day of Yoga 2025, held under the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' which marked a remarkable milestone with over 3 lakh participants joining in Visakhapatnam this year. 'This powerful display of unity and wellness reflects the growing global embrace of yoga. Alongside, initiatives such as Prakriti Parikshan and Moringa-based Ayush diets showcase our commitment to evidence-based research, preventive healthcare, and the promotion of a healthy, sustainable lifestyle,' Jadhav said. During the meeting, Member of Parliament Purshottam Rupala suggested that the Ministry of Ayush enhance public awareness through campaigns using posters, banners, and other IEC materials. He also emphasised the importance of recognising the contributions of grassroots Vaidyas at the village and district levels. He called for efforts to promote their expertise so that more people can benefit from Ayush and its systems can be further strengthened. Jadhav expressed gratitude to the members for their active participation and meaningful contributions. He emphasised that their inputs will be instrumental in strengthening the Ayush systems across the country and in advancing India's leadership in traditional medicine on the global stage.
