(Reuters) - Will Still has left his role as head coach of Ligue 1 side RC Lens to be closer to his family back home in Britain, the Belgium-born Englishman announced on Saturday.
The 32-year-old former Reims manager joined Lens on a three-year contract last year in June and helped them secure an eighth-place finish in Ligue 1 this season.
"I will not be the coach of Lens next season. Today was my last match of the season at Bollaert," Still told reporters after Lens 4-0 home victory over AS Monaco.
"For multiple reasons, the main reason behind my decision is that I need to go back home. It is a logical choice for me to be closer to my wife, for her well-being."
Sky Sports presenter Emma Saunders, Still's partner, revealed she had encephalitis, a brain infection, in March.

Malaysia defeats Vietnam 4-0 in third-round qualifiers
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian footballer Joao Vitor Figueiredo (centre) attempts a shot on goal against Vietnam in the second match of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Tuesday (Jun 10). - BernamaPic BUKIT JALIL: Malaysia put on a solid performance in their 2027 Asian Cup third-round qualifiers fixture after defeating Vietnam 4-0 thanks to the help of their heritage heroes at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Tuesday (June 10). Freshly-arrived Harimau Malaya attacker Joao Figueiredo was eager to make his mark on the pitch, coming close with several opportunities in the first half but to no avail. But the Brazilian-born got his break in the second half, when his shot from right outside the box was deflected off Vietnam's defence and lobbed over the goalkeeper to give Malaysia the lead in the 49th minute. Head coach Peter Cklamovski had fielded four of the five new arrivals into the team, and among them trying to make an impact was Rodrigo Holgado, who had his head bandaged for majority of the match after colliding with another player. In the 58th minute, thanks to a stunning assist from Arif Aiman Hanapi, Holgado got his debut goal as well for Malaysia and made things difficult for Vietnam to catch up. But Arif was not done yet as he set up another lovely assist for La'vere Corbin-Ong, who tapped the ball into the back of the net in the 66th minute and brought the lead up to 3-0 in front of 61, 512 fans at the National Stadium. Besides Figueiredo and Holgado, Facundo Garces and Jon Irabazal also got their debut starts with the team, while Imanol Machuca got his playing minutes when subbed in for Holgado in the 72nd minute. To put the cherry on the night's cake, enter Dion Cools to coolly make it four for Malaysia in the 88th minute. Malaysia are currently top of Group F with six points, while Vietnam and Laos are in second and third with three points each, and Nepal sit winless at the bottom.

Soccer-World Cup dream is still alive despite loss to Belgium, Wales manager Bellamy says
Soccer Football - European Qualifiers - Group J - Belgium v Wales - King Baudouin Stadium, Brussels, Belgium - June 9, 2025 Wales manager Craig Bellamy and players applaud fans after the match REUTERS/Yves Herman BRUSSELS (Reuters) -Wales manager Craig Bellamy said his side are still on track to qualify for the World Cup despite slipping from top spot in their group following a 4-3 defeat in Belgium on Monday. The clash in Brussels would have been marked down as Wales' toughest test in Group J and it looked like the writing was on the wall when they were three goals down inside the first half-hour. But Bellamy's side fought back to level at 3-3 and looked good for a surprise point before Kevin De Bruyne snatched a late winner for the hosts. "To come to a top-eight team and play the way we want to play. I think the Belgian players saw it as well," said Bellamy, who lost his first game as Wales manager after 10 matches in charge. "We aren't going anywhere. I will have a couple of weeks now of recharging, but I'm beyond proud and really excited about the future." Wales have seven points from four matches in their group and are at the halfway stage of their campaign. North Macedonia top the standings with eight points, but Belgium, on four points, have played only two fixtures. The group winner qualifies automatically for next year's finals in North America, while the runners-up go into a playoff competition. Wales next travel to fourth-placed Kazakhstan in September and then have a return clash with the Belgians in Cardiff in October. Sorba Thomas, who scored his first international goal for Wales on Monday, said their second-half performance showed what kind of a team they are. "Even though we lost the game, I feel like we won it in our own heads," he added. "Against countries like this, you'll be punished. I can't wait to play these when we get back to Cardiff." Wales reached the quarter-final of the 1958 World Cup and did not qualify again until the last finals in Qatar in 2022, where they finished bottom of their group. Soccer-Relief for Belgium but questions for the defence after dramatic win over Wales
Soccer Football - European Qualifiers - Group J - Belgium v Wales - King Baudouin Stadium, Brussels, Belgium - June 9, 2025 Belgium coach Rudi Garcia reacts REUTERS/Yves Herman BRUSSELS (Reuters) -There was relief for Belgium after scraping through a dramatic World Cup qualifier against Wales on Monday but plenty for coach Rudi Garcia to ponder after a narrow 4-3 home win. Belgium had been cruising at 3-0 up inside the first half-hour of the Group J match at the King Baudouin Stadium but Wales fought back to 3-3 with 20 minutes left before Kevin De Bruyne grabbed the winner two minutes from time. 'The most important thing is that we won. Psychologically it is tough to give away a three-goal lead, but we showed our mental strength,' said Garcia after Belgium's second game in their qualifying group for the 2026 finals in North America. 'We kept fighting. It is symbolic that Kevin of all people scored the winning goal." De Bruyne had been a key factor throughout, ghosting in at the back post to convert Youri Tielemans' cross for the winner. Tielemans, who was captain for the night, said relief was the primary emotion after the game. "We are happy with the victory, but we know that should not have happened to us," he said of the Welsh comeback. "I have no explanation for how that happened. But the craziest things can happen with the national team. "We felt we could finish the match earlier, but then we dropped off a bit. Then we conceded a goal and their confidence grew. They were simply the better team at that moment. 'We had to defend together as a team, choose the right moment to react and get back into the match but we didn't do that well." Belgium conceded a late equaliser in their group opener against North Macedonia on Friday and the defence will come under more scrutiny after allowing Wales to score three. Belgium travel to Liechtenstein on Sept. 4 for their next qualifier before hosting Kazakhstan three days later. (Writing by Mark Gleeson in London; Editing by Peter Rutherford)
