Key role of agrivoltaics in rural economy stressed

Vijayawada: In a step towards fostering sustainable energy solutions, the Andhra Pradesh State Consultation Workshop on Agrivoltaics was conducted here on Wednesday. The event was organised by the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) with New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) and the Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation as knowledge partners.
The workshop is aimed at initiating a forward-looking, solution-oriented dialogue on the potential integration of agrivoltaics under the PM-KUSUM scheme.
Vice-chairman and managing director of NREDCAP M Kamalakar Babu highlighted the state's proactive stance on renewable energy. 'AP has been a front-runner in the adoption of solar energy, and agrivoltaics can further strengthen our rural economy and energy resilience.' Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, CEO of NSEFI said, 'Andhra Pradesh's commitment to renewable energy and sustainable agricultural practices provides a unique opportunity to integrate agrivoltaics in a manner that benefits both sectors agriculture and energy.'
The consultation workshop focused on evaluating the feasibility of agrivoltaics in AP, drawing from national experiences and tailoring solutions for the state's specific agro-climatic conditions. The discussions were moderated by NSEFI, featuring representatives from various sectors, including agriculture, renewable energy developers, and financial & Agricultural University institutions. The discussions aimed to identify key enablers for financing and scaling agrivoltaics, focusing on tariff stability, regulatory clarity, and effective policy convergence.

Nandyal: The State government will officially launch the 'Annadata Sukhibhava' scheme on August 2, aimed at enhancing the welfare of farmers across the State. District Collector G Rajakumari made the announcement after participating in a video conference convened by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu from the Amaravati Secretariat on Thursday. The Chief Minister reviewed the preparations for the scheme's rollout with district collectors across the State. Speaking from the video-conference hall at the Nandyal Collectorate, Collector G Rajakumari stated that nearly 2.07 lakh farmers in Nandyal district would benefit under the scheme. Each eligible farmer will receive Rs 7,000, comprising Rs 5,000 from the State government under Annadata Sukhibhava and Rs 2,000 from the Central government under the PM-KISAN scheme. She directed the Agriculture Department to ensure smooth implementation and take proactive steps to avoid any grievances from beneficiaries. The Collector stressed the importance of completing the eKYC process, instructing officials to immediately address pending cases in all mandals. She urged farmers to complete eKYC at the earliest to avoid delays in receiving benefits. Additionally, she reminded all farmers cultivating paddy to pay their crop insurance premiums before August 15 through their nearest Rythu Seva Kendras to ensure coverage for the ongoing season.

NEW DELHI: Besides inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of 53 development projects worth Rs 2,248 crore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also release the 20th instalment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KSN) during his visit to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on August 2. Moreover, the four-lane Varanasi-Bhadohi road adorned with beautiful streetlights featuring 'Tridents and Damrus' as well as idols of deities erected at road dividers and footpaths would also be inaugurated by the PM. Notably, UP accounts for a 25% (one-fourth) of the total small and marginal farmers, nationally, to receive the instalment. The ambitious scheme envisages distribution of Rs 6,000 to identified farmers in three instalments. In all, the Centre is scheduled to release a sum of Rs 20,500 crore to be distributed to around 9.7 crore farmers nationally. Under the 20th tranche, Rs 2,000 each will be debited into the bank accounts of more than 9.7 crore farmers across India through the Direct Benefit Transfer system.

Vijayawada: The state government is making all arrangements to launch 'Annadata Sukhibhava', a scheme aimed at providing cash incentives to farmers, on August 2, alongside the PM-Kisan scheme. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the scheme at Veerayapalem village under Darsi mandal of Prakasam district. As many as 46.85 lakh farmers will benefit from the scheme. While the state government is providing Rs 5,000 to each farmer in the first tranche, the Union government will disburse ₹2,000. In total, Annadata Sukhibhava aims to transfer Rs 20,000 to farmers in three instalments, inclusive of PM-Kisan benefits. During a review meeting held on Thursday with senior officials from the finance, revenue, water resources, and agriculture departments, the chief minister directed officials to ensure that every eligible farmer receives the financial support directly into their bank accounts. "For the NDA government, supporting farmers is not a burden but a responsibility," Naidu stated. "We are rebuilding every system and working towards financial stability. The good work done should be effectively communicated to the public," he added, suggesting the use of the 'Mana Mitra' app for outreach. The state government has synchronised its disbursement with the Union government's payment to ensure that farmers can immediately use the funds for agricultural purposes. The state will provide Rs 5,000 each in the first and second instalments, and Rs 4,000 in the third, while the Union government will give Rs 2,000 in each phase. In the first phase alone, the Union government is spending Rs 831 crore, while the state is disbursing Rs 2,343 crore. Meanwhile, officials informed the chief minister that 59,750 grievances related to the scheme had been registered, of which 58,464 have already been resolved. A toll-free helpline (155251) has been set up to address any doubts or issues related to the scheme. Chief ecretary K Vijayanand, special chief secretary of agriculture B.
