10 Stirling swimmers set for World Championships medal bid
The 28-strong Aquatics GB team for Singapore includes Stirling's Duncan Scott OBE, Angharad Evans, Keanna Macinnes, Katie Shanahan, Holly McGill, Freya Anderson, Lucy Hope and Jack McMillan.
Paige van der Westhuizen will swim for Zimbabwe and Arvin Shaun Singh Chahal for Malaysia.
Ben Higson and Brad Hay will support the British team at the Championships, alongside ex-Stirling coach Steve Tigg, now Aquatics GB Head Coach.
David Bond, Head of Performance Sport at the University of Stirling, said: 'As the University's high-performance swim programme has grown and developed, we have witnessed more and more athletes achieve selection for the Olympics, World Championships and Commonwealth Games.
'To have a record number of Stirling swimmers compete at the World Championships is a landmark moment for the programme, which continues to go from strength to strength under the leadership of Ben, Brad and the wider coaching and support team.
'We wish all the swimmers the best of luck as they head off to Singapore – and our university community will be cheering them on as they bid to medal on the international stage.'

Cesc Fabregas' Serie A side won the clash 3-2, but not before trying to go 12 rounds with their rivals after a stunning brawl broke out at the end of the first half. Former West Ham star Pablo Fornals was at the centre of the brawl as he exchanged blows with Máximo Perrone. The rivals were seen squaring up to one another before they got involved in a shoving match. There was one unfortunately funny moment in the melee as Cucho Hernandez came flying in to try and land a punch on a rival, only to punch his own team-mate, Natan, in the face instead. Fornals avoided being sent off despite landing the first blow, with the same lack of punishment also going to Hernandez following his attempted flying punch. In the aftermath, ex-Arsenal star Hector Bellerin tried to speak to the referee to get the situation under control. Jurgen Klopp is now a leading figure at Red Bull and he's central to their pursuit of Harvey Elliott - which could help fund Liverpool's pursuit of Alexander Isak Liverpool remain keen on landing Alexander Isak, who has told Newcastle he wants to seek pastures new - with the Reds already seeing an opening bid for the Swede rejected. They tabled an overall over worth £120million, but that was knocked back by their Premier League rivals. The Magpies value Isak closer to £150m after seeing him establish himself as one of Europe's leading No 9s since moving to St James' Park. Liverpool have already spent well over £200m but could still break the British-transfer record for the second time in a single summer. Their transfer efforts will be aided by more money coming into the club and former manager Jurgen Klopp is now Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull and plays a major role in their recruitment. Bild reports that Klopp is particularly keen to bring Harvey Elliott to RB Leipzig with the Englishman tipped to move on this summer. Despite having options to remain in England the German, who bought Elliott to Anfield back in 2019, wants to lure him to the Bundesliga. Elliott has seen his stock rise this summer after excelling at the U21 Euros with England, where he was named Player of the Tournament. He is being eyed by the likes of Brighton and West Ham, but Leipzig represent a chance for him to head overseas. Liverpool are looking to bank around £50m if they are to let Elliott, who only started two Premier League games last term, leave. That fee would also represent pure profit and further bolster their transfer kitty ahead of a renewed move for Isak. Germany has proved to be an excellent environment for English talent to thrive. Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham, who both made their names at Borussia Dortmund, are shining examples of how heading to the Bundesliga can be hugely beneficial for one's career. The 22-year-old acknowledges he needs to be selfish with his next move and said recently: 'If I had it my way, I would be here for the rest of my career, it's as simple as that. I love everything about the club. But at the same time, I kind of need to be selfish with myself and see what's best for me. I think it's still something I need to review, I need to have a talk with everyone and review the situation. The club's fourth pre-season friendly, their first at the Emirates, saw all six summer signings make their north London debuts. New boy Christian Norgaard got one back for the hosts with a composed header at the back post following a Gabriel Martinelli corner. Villarreal restored their two-goal lead following a counter-attack which culminated in a strike from ex-Tottenham man Arnaut Danjuma. Teenager Max Dowman, who made his Emirates debut, then won a penalty in the final 15 minutes for captain Martin Odegaard to bury. However, it wasn't enough to fire the Gunners to a comeback. Was caught quite high up the pitch for Villarreal's second and dragged out wide, leaving plenty of space in the box. Jakub Kiwior - 4 Failed to make the clearance before Pepe's opening goal after being out-muscled in the six-yard box. Also made a failed attempt to win the ball for Villarreal's second. 7 Jakub Kiwior struggled in the build-up to the first two goals Credit: Getty Myles Lewis-Skelly - 6 Lost track of Pepe at times out wide but did well moving centrally. Battled well and drew some fouls in the middle. Out of position for the visitors' third goal. Christian Norgaard - 7 Made some important interceptions and challenges in midfield. Had a wild half-volley shot from the edge of the box which bounced out for a throw-in but redeemed himself with a composed header at the back post to get one back for the Gunners. Mikel Merino - 5 Didn't make much of an impact at all in midfield. Very quiet. Returned to the No9 position in the second half when Gyokeres went off. Ethan Nwaneri - 7 Very sharp in the first half when in control of the ball, taking on players and working well with Saka on the right. Didn't have too much luck out on the right and failed to cause any real problems for goalkeeper Luiz Junior. Gabriel Martinelli - 6 Looked sharp at the start of the match by making some direct runs down the left and some good crosses. Had a bit of a dip mid-first half but got the assist for Norgaard's goal. Viktor Gyokeres - 5 Had a very quiet evening. Had a few promising opportunities cutting inside from the left during the first half. Plenty of Arsenal's chances came from crosses - perhaps he would have done better had the ball been played directly to his feet. Didn't really look up to speed - not surprising given he didn't really have much of a pre-season. 7 Viktor Gyokeres had a quiet game Credit: PA SUBSTITUTES Cristhian Mosquera (for White, 46) - 6 Looked fairly comfortable alongside Gabriel after coming on. Still working his way back up to full match fitness. Martin Odegaard (for Gyokeres, 62) - 6 Scored the penalty which made it 3-2 by tucking his shot nicely into the bottom-right corner. Jurrien Timber (for Saliba, 62) - 5 Didn't get involved too much. Max Dowman (for Saka, 62) - 7 Got one of the biggest cheers of the evening as he was introduced to the home fans for the first time while making his way onto the pitch. Looked to make an impact from the off and came close with a low-driven chance cutting inside from the right. Not the best start to his time at the Emirates. Oleksandr Zinchenko (for Lewis-Skelly, 77) - 5 Beaten slightly too easily which could have seen the visitors get a fourth.
