
Man charged with attempted murder after officer stabbed: N.B. RCMP
A 35-year-old man is facing charges, including attempted murder, after a police officer was stabbed in Moncton, N.B., last Thursday.
The Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance and an assault between two people at a home on Fairisle Drive just before midnight.
Police say they tried to arrest one person at the scene, but they resisted, and an altercation ensued.
The person then allegedly stabbed one of the responding police officers several times in the head.
Another officer deployed their Taser twice, subduing the suspect who was then arrested.
The injured police officer was taken to hospital with severe, but non-life-threatening, injuries. They have since been released.
Edva Mascary appeared in Moncton provincial court the next day and was charged with:
two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon
two counts of resisting a peace officer
attempted murder
uttering threats
assault
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on Friday.
Police say their investigation is ongoing.

String of shoplifting incidents in Regina lead to 28 charges for one person

According to the Regina Police Service (RPS), the incidents occurred between July 9 and Aug. 12 at two businesses in the 2100 block of Prince of Wales Drive and two businesses in the 2000 block of Prince of Wales Drive. Police said the suspect threatened a loss prevention officer with a knife in one instance and threatened three loss prevention officers with bear spray in another. Following investigation, RPS charged a 31-year-old man with robbery, three counts of assault with a weapon, 11 counts of theft under $5,000, and 13 counts of failure to comply. He made his first court appearance in Regina on Aug. 15.

OPP searching for missing senior in Bruce County
Grey Bruce OPP are searching for a missing senior in the Bruce County area. 87-year-old Audrey has been missing since last Friday, Aug. 15, last seen in the Little Pike Bay area. She is described as 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall, around 100 pounds, short grey hair, and glasses. She walks hunched over, according to OPP. Man arrested in connection with two shootings in Prince Albert
A 19-year-old man has been arrested in relation to two separate shooting incidents earlier this month. Prince Albert police say the arrest was made on Tuesday outside a business in the 800 block of 15th Street West. ADVERTISEMENT During the search, officers seized three grams of methamphetamine, 32 grams of cocaine, bear spray, $360 in Canadian currency, and other items consistent with drug trafficking. According to police the first shooting occurred on Aug. 3, in the 1600 block of 17th Street West where a 26-year-old man was injured. He was treated by Parkland Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. The second shooting occurred on Aug. 12, in the South Hill area. Police say an officer noticed an injured 29-year-old man sitting in the middle of the road on 2nd Avenue West. Shortly after, the officer learned the man had an injury consistent with a gunshot wound. The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival. As a result of the investigation, the 19-year-old man has been charged possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, attempted murder, forcible confinement, and multiple other firearms related charges. The accused appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court Wednesday morning.
