Following a mid-cycle revision in the exam pattern, these candidates will be allowed to either retain their original scores or opt to reappear for the subject under the new format.
The move comes after students flagged concerns about the structure of the Accountancy paper during the first phase of the exam. Responding to this feedback, the NTA revised the question paper design and introduced more flexibility for test-takers.
Key change: Optional unit introduced in Accountancy
The revised exam pattern, which takes effect from May 22, 2025, allows candidates to choose between questions from Unit V:
and an optional unit. Previously, questions from Unit V were compulsory — putting candidates unfamiliar with computerised accounting at a disadvantage.
With the updated format, students can now align the exam to their strengths, selecting questions from areas they are better prepared in. The revision is aimed at 'maintaining parity and fairness for all candidates,' the NTA said in its latest public notice, adding that the decision was made in consultation with subject experts.
Retest rules for May 13–16 candidates
Students who took the Accountancy paper during the initial phase — between May 13 and May 16 — now have the option to retake the paper under the revised structure. However, this is a one-time offer and comes with strict terms:
Final score based on retest: If a candidate chooses to appear for the retest, the new score will be final, and the marks from the earlier attempt will be discarded — regardless of which was higher.
No show means no score: Candidates who opt in for the retest but fail to appear will be marked ABSENT, and no marks will be awarded for the subject.
No action means retention: Those who do not apply for the retest will have their earlier scores from May 13–16 treated as final.
Candidates who are interested in applying for the retest can do so by clicking on the link provided
. They must submit their application before May 23, 2025, 1:00 PM.
Details regarding the date, time, and test centre for the retest will be announced on the official CUET UG website: exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG

CUET UG 2025 moves towards standardisation
Apart from the changes in the Accountancy paper, the NTA has confirmed that all CUET UG 2025 exams will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. Additionally, optional questions have been removed across subjects to bring CUET in line with national-level entrance exams such as NEET and JEE.
Students are advised to review the updated syllabus, practice using the new format, and monitor the official site regularly for further instructions. Those considering a retake should carefully evaluate their previous performance before making a decision.

IIT-Delhi to start 4-year BTech course in design

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Delhi will launch a four-year BTech in design from the 2025–26 academic year, targeting JEE Advanced qualifiers with a passion for creativity, problem-solving and complex socio-technical challenges, the institute said in a statement on Saturday. The programme, overseen by IIT's department of design, intends to merge engineering syllabus with design thinking to help students develop solutions to real-world issues. Admission will depend on clearing the design aptitude test named Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED), aside from JEE (Advanced) rankings. 'This is a unique programme crafted especially for empathetic and creative minds intent on understanding socio-technical systems and designing solutions for the wicked problems in these systems,' IIT-Delhi said in a statement. The curriculum blends core design disciplines such as systematic design thinking and research methods with courses from other departments, ensuring a trans-disciplinary approach, IIT said. Half of the coursework will focus on design while the remainder will leverage IIT-Delhi's expertise in engineering, management, humanities and policy. 'The programme curriculum will pave the way for easy collaboration and harness the existing strengths between the design department and other departments/centres/schools. The aim is to prepare the students in such a way that at the end of the programme they are confident in using design as a vehicle to address problems in industry and society,' IIT-Delhi said.

Though we explored various funding options during last year, including IPO and discussions with few strategic investors, including PhysicsWallah, we have decided to continue independently for now. We hope we'll keep doing better on our own and if required, we'll explore other options as per circumstances in the future.'The development comes at a time when India's edtech sector is seeing increased focus on consolidation, operational efficiency, and profitability amid a more cautious funding environment. Several players are re-evaluating growth strategies, with partnerships and acquisitions being explored in 1999, Drishti IAS has built a strong brand in Hindi-medium UPSC preparation, offering both online and offline programmes. PhysicsWallah, which entered the unicorn club in 2022, has been expanding beyond its core NEET-JEE focus into categories such as UPSC, state exams, and professional now, Drishti IAS has opted to chart its own path forward as an independent player in the evolving education the fiscal year 2023–24 (FY24), Drishti IAS reported a revenue of Rs 405 crore.
