Sophie Turner's Talks Summer Food Hauls, Cocktails - And Why Her Planned Glastonbury Trip Will End In Tears
Even the most well-travelled people can attest that there are few better places than London in the summer. And, just like the rest of us, you'll find Sophie Turner either pubbing or picnic-ing when the weather works in our favours. 'There's got to be some M&S nibbles on the spread,' states Turner. 'You can't go wrong with a Food Hall haul. Get some burrata, cherry tomatoes, a bit of pesto in there, bish bash bosh. And of course, everything gets washed down with some St Germain.'

The actress has collaborated with the elderflower liqueur brand this Summer, and for Sophie, it was an easy deal. 'My collaboration with St Germain felt really authentic for me because I genuinely use the product! The drink feels like the epitome of British Summer time - if it's a sunny day out, you can count on me having a picnic and drinking a St Germain Hugo Spritz.' For those who haven't yet rustled up a Hugo Spritz, take some St Germain, combine with sparkling wine, top it up with soda water and garnish with fresh mint and lime.
Neither of us have had lunch yet when Turner and I catch up via Zoom, so I swiftly move the conversation from food and drink onto festivals to find out what Sophie's Summer is saying. 'I'm going to Glastonbury! I haven't been in about 12 years. I'm going with three of my best girl friends and I am so excited – it's going to be a blast. I can't wait to see Neil Young – Harvest Moon is my favourite song of all time. I'm just going to be standing there, crying.' Evidentially a big music fan, Turner goes through her Summer playlist with me: 'I like a lot of kind of, old stuff? I love Seabird by The Alessi Brothers, I think that's one of my all time favourites. But there're a lot of different artists on here actually; there's some Role Model, Little Simz, Glass Animals, Sierra Ferrell, Rachel Chinouriri – oh, and David Gray for some classics.'

Turner's eclecticism in music definitely extends to her personal style. Her summer wardrobe comprises of basketball shorts and oversized souvenir t-shirts she's collected from various holiday locations. 'When I was younger, my Dad would go away and bring us back these t-shirts. I love the feeling of wearing mine now, as if my Dad's given them to me.'
On the feet, it's a toss-up between some statement trainers; Turner picks from Wales Bonner, Miista and Alohas, 'an amazing Spanish brand. I'm looking at them right now and they're just wonderful'. A self-confessed 'jeans and a t-shirt girl', the Summer is proving proves the optimum time for Turner to push her sartorial boundaries after undergoing a colour analysis test. 'I've found out I'm a "light spring", so I'm leaning into trying those colours that suit me more – something a bit more vibrant for the warmer weather.'
As a mother of two – Willa, born in 2020 and Delphine, in 2022 – Turner's approach to fashion and beauty certainly is one of style and substance, ensuring balance between fashion and functionality. 'We don't have AC in London. It's all about practicality in a summer wardrobe, for me.' Her skincare routine is a slathering of P20 sunscreen and some Weleda Skin Food. 'I just don't really have time to properly get ready anymore – I'll try and get a bit of life in me before the kids wake up but then, as the day hits 7am, I've got to hit the road and get going.' In a chic contrast to her easy-breezy demeanour, Turner has been a brand ambassador for Louis Vuitton since 2017. 'I just feel more put together when I wear Vuitton' she confesses. I think, every mother has a superpower – perhaps Turner's might just be a Murakami Speedy.
Despite starting her career with the blockbusting Game of Thrones at 15 years old, Turner remains totally grounded. We talk about upcoming holidays, to which she has none; she is working solidly at the moment (intriguingly, she can't disclose on what), but she is going to New York with St Germain for 'some promotional stuff, and I'll count that as a holiday'. Perhaps it is the work ethic instilled in her from being a teen, but her gratitude feels refreshing. 'It's very exciting to me. Nothing really beats New York in June. Well, I say that. Do you know what does beat New York in June? British Summer. London in good weather. There is just nothing better.' Cheers to that.

Tom Daley Explains How Marriage to Husband Dustin Lance Black Has Evolved Over Time
Five-time Olympic medalist Tom Daley explained how the 19-year age gap between him and his husband, screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, has taken on a different shape since the couple first started dating more than a decade ago. Daley, 31, and Black, 50, got married in 2017 after four years together. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the British diving star explained that the couple's age difference feels smaller by the year. 'One hundred percent,' said Daley, whose life and career are profiled in the new documentary Tom Daley: 1.6 Seconds. 'It's funny because the people that know us know that I'm the more mature person that kinds of runs the show in the house.' The couple share two sons, both welcomed via surrogate: Robbie, 6, and Phoenix, 2. Diver Tom Daley Shows Off 'Cardboard' and 'Anti-Sex' Beds in Olympic Village 'As we get older, I think we both align very well on what we want to achieve,' Daley added. 'We're both really big dreamers. I think that was the biggest thing for us, that we're both so supportive of each other. We don't limit the other person's dreams. We really make each other feel like we can achieve whatever we set our minds to.' Daley, who retired from professional diving after earning a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, recently aligned with Black on a full-time move to Los Angeles from Daley's native England. 'There were a number of reasons, honestly,' Daley said when asked about the family's decision to come stateside. 'Part of it was the fact that Lance moved to the U.K. for me to be able to do my diving for the longest time. He moved away from his business and his work. 'Now it's his turn' kind of vibe.' Following his retirement last year, Daley admitted it 'still feels weird' to be away from the pool in a professional capacity. 'I watch all the diving competitions,' Daley said. 'There's still part of me that's like, 'Oh, I could do that.' You know what I mean? Like, 'I could do it better than them. What are they doing? Come on. Is that really all they got?' There's still a part of me that's a bit like, 'Oof.'' Still, when asked if there was any chance he might change his mind about retirement, Daley was definitive. 'No, we're done,' he said. In the new documentary 1.6 Seconds, Daley emotionally recounts the death of his father, Robert, who died of a brain tumor in 2011, years before Daley started his own family. 'That was part of the reason to do the documentary, for them to be able to have something to look back on and get to know their grandad a little bit,' Daley explained. 'Get to know what their papa did with his whole life. I think that's something that's really important and one of the reasons the documentary happened in the first place. For my kids.' Olympian Tom Daley Reveals the NSFW Gift He Knitted for Diving Partner Noah Williams In the documentary, Daley is seen splashing around in the family pool with both of his sons. But when it comes to them potentially following in his footsteps, Daley said, 'That's on them.' 'If they want to start diving, they can tell me they want to start diving,' he noted. 'But I'm never going to push anything on them that they don't want to do. So, if they showed interest in it.' Daley continued, 'Robbie doesn't really show interest in that side of things. Whereas Phoenix is slightly more of a second child. Daredevil, crazy. You know, the feral child. There's slightly more interest.' Downton Abbey 3 Isn't Bringing Back Matthew Goode, But I Actually Like His Reasoning For Why This Is ‘A Really Positive Thing'
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. By the time Downton Abbey, one of the great Peak TV era shows, ended in 2015, Michelle Dockery's Lady Mary Talbot had been lucky enough to find love again, this time with Matthew Goode's Henry Talbot. The two of them were even expecting a child, and we got to meet little Caroline alongside her parents in the 2019 Downton Abbey movie. However, Henry wasn't around in 2022's Downton Abbey: A New Era and also won't appear in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, one of the later 2025 movie releases. However, Goode sees his absence this time around as a 'really positive thing' for a specific reason, and I have to say, I like the way he's thinking. As far as why Goode isn't appearing in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, it boiled down to scheduling conflicts, as he told THR that he was busy filming the British crime thriller series Dept. Q. The actor also mentioned that even if he had been able to carve out time, there was only 'half a page' of material for him. Goode continued: And actually, I said, you know what? Why can't this be a really positive thing? Because I don't know what they're doing. They might kill [Henry]! I didn't see the script. But it's a wonderful opportunity — [Mary, Michelle Dockery's character] is like this modern feminist icon and in a weird way, maybe she doesn't need a fella. Maybe Downton's enough or maybe some old suitor will come in. Now, it opens up the story to have something significant happen. Why have Henry come? I will admit that the idea of Mary losing another husband doesn't sit too well with me. Downton Abbey fans (who can currently revisit the show with a Peacock subscription) will obviously remember that Dan Stevens' Matthew Crawley was her chief love interest during the show's first three seasons, but he died in a car crash on the way home after seeing his newborn son in the hospital. In fact, Henry being a race car driver was the main reason Mary initially broke off her romantic relationship with him, as she couldn't bear the thought of losing another husband in a car crash. More on Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale Downton Abbey 3 Was Always Going To Be Difficult Without Maggie Smith, And Paul Giamatti Confirms 'It Was Not The Same' Downton Abbey 3's Michelle Dockery On The 'Beautiful' Third Movie And Honoring Maggie Smith But putting that aside, Mary did just fine without Henry by her side in A New Era, with his absence in that movie being attributed to him participating at a racing event in Istanbul. If Matthew Goode's musing that Henry Talbot could be killed off is correct, it's not like Mary is lacking in a support system to help her through this new round of grief, between her parents, sister, brother-in-law, the family's staff, the list goes on. My only request is that if Henry does indeed shuffle off this mortal coil, don't let it be from a car crash. It's also possible that nothing bad's going to happen to Henry, and whatever his small role would have been in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale would simply have set up the reason for his exit. In any case, I'm ok with not seeing Mary with Henry again, nor do I need to see her take up another suitor. With this being the final film in the Downton Abbey franchise, I'd much rather see her spending as much time as possible with her family and other loved ones in her life. Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale opens in theaters on September 12. For the Matthew Goode fans out there, you're also welcome to watch him play Detective Carl Morck in Dept. Q, which can now be streamed with a Netflix subscription.
