CC International to acquire Labuan trust company Alpadis for RM3.2m
In a Bursa Malaysia filing, the group said it had entered into a share purchase agreement with the Switzerland-based vendor, Alpadis Group Holding AG, on June 30.
The acquisition will give CCIB full ownership of Alpadis, a licensed Labuan trust company involved in providing corporate and fiduciary services for asset protection, estate and tax planning, and wealth management.
Alpadis was incorporated in 2011 and posted a profit after tax of US$5,661 in FY2024 on revenue of US$530,567, following a stronger FY2023 performance of US$16,759 in PAT on US$771,923 revenue.
The deal, which is subject to approval from Labuan Financial Services Authority (LFSA), is expected to be completed in 4Q2025.
Alpadis will become a wholly owned unit of ISPG, and indirectly of CCIB, upon completion.
The deal will be funded via proceeds from CCIB's private placement exercise completed in July 2023. As at June 30, RM3.16 million of the earmarked RM20.7 million for M&A remains available for use.
'This acquisition allows CCIB to expand its regional reach and acquire Alpadis' existing client base,' the group said, adding that the deal is expected to contribute positively to the group's future earnings. Alpadis' MD Chau Ken Vui will be appointed as director post-completion.
CCIB's board believes the proposed acquisition is in the best interest of the group and aligns with its strategic expansion in professional services. — TMR

Bursa Malaysia likely to retain uptrend next week
KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia is likely to retain its constructive bias into next week, with potential upside breakout above the 1,560 level, said an analyst. UOB Kay Hian Wealth Advisors Sdn Bhd's head of investment research, Mohd Sedek Jantan, said the near-term momentum would remain path-dependent on investor sentiment and the regional risk premium. He noted that Malaysia's final second quarter of 2025 (2Q 2025) gross domestic product (GDP) reading, due on Friday (Aug 15), should confirm the economy's resilience, with forecast unchanged at 4.5 per cent year-on-year. "On the same day, China will publish its latest retail sales figures, as we believe the marginal policy impact is now diminishing, with our projection pointing to a moderation to 4.6 per cent year-on-year. "These drivers could recalibrate regional equity risk appetite and influence commodity-linked trade flows into ASEAN markets," he told Bernama. Mohd Sedek also said investors remained focused on United States (US) semiconductor tariff announcement, as tariff-sensitive sectors could experience episodic volatility, "The prevailing global macro narrative is anchored on imminent US Federal Reserve (Fed) rate cuts as it may exert a stronger influence on cross-asset flows, potentially superseding trade-related caution. "We view positive domestic macro prints and robust US corporate earnings should provide further underpinning for the index," he said. Meanwhile, Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice-president of equity research Thong Pak Leng said investors are keeping a close watch on US-China trade relations. He said reports signalled that talks might restart amid escalating tariff impacts and geopolitical uncertainty, both of which are influencing global market trends. On a weekly basis, the benchmark index rose 23.63 points to 1,556.98 on Friday from 1,533.35 a week earlier. The FBM Emas Index increased 76.46 points to 11,601.79, the FBMT 100 Index gained 94.28 points to 11,379.91, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index climbed 93.42 points to 11,634.18. The FBM 70 Index declined 208.34 points to 16,505.53, while the FBM ACE Index dropped 17.49 points to 4,606.88. By sector, the Financial Services Index soared 100.62 points to 17,580.82, the Plantation Index added 55.15 points to 7,426.12, while the Energy Index slipped 12.88 points to 736.72. Weekly turnover swelled to 12.65 billion units worth RM11.65 billion from 15.94 billion units worth RM11.88 billion in the previous week. The Main Market volume shrank to 7.66 billion units valued at RM10.61 billion compared with 8.33 billion units valued at RM10.46 billion previously. Warrants turnover declined to 3.62 billion units worth RM508.07 million from 5.50 billion units worth RM859.03 million in the preceding week. Thailand's B GRIMM eyes RM4.26bil investment in Malaysia's RE sector
KUALA LUMPUR: Thailand's multinational power conglomerate B. Grimm Power Public Company Ltd is looking to expand its footprint in Malaysia by investing more than US$1 billion or RM4.26 billion in Malaysia's fast-growing renewable energy (RE) and power sectors such as installing solar plants over the next few years. B. Grimm's chairman and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Harald Link, said the decision was prompted by both countries being neighbours and the company having a close friendship in Malaysia over the last 20 years. He said this would be an expansion for B. Grimm which has already invested around RM200 million in Malaysia's RE sector to date, having entered the market during the COVID-19 period. "B. Grimm can continue to bring its expertise in solar power plants, industrial power, RE as well as in independent power producers (IPPs) to Malaysia," he told Bernama in an interview recently. Featured Videos The interview was held after Link was awarded the Sri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) which carries the title "Datuk Seri" in conjunction with the 66th birthday of the Sultan of Pahang at Balai Mahkota, Istana Abdulaziz on July 28, 2025. Link said B. Grimm was now looking to strengthen its presence in Malaysia after acquiring 45 per cent stakes in reNIKOLA Holdings Sdn Bhd back in 2021 for RM367 million in cash. The acquisition of 45 per cent-interest in the enlarged share capital of reNIKOLA Holdings was made through its wholly owned subsidiary, B. Grimm Power Malaysia Sdn Bhd whereas, the remaining 55 per cent in reNikola is owned by reNikola Sdn Bhd. B. Grimm had previously injected RM152.5 million into reNIKOLA and the company acquired two solar power projects, located in Kuala Muda in Kedah and Machang in Kelantan with a total installed capacity of 90 MegaWatts (MW). Both Kuala Muda and Machang projects were entered into with a 21-year power purchase agreement with Tenaga Nasional Bhd. ReNIKOLA Holdings also owns solar power assets in Arau, Perlis, Gebeng and Pekan in Pahang. It would develop a large-scale solar plant in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah (pending issuance of licence), all totalling 418 MegaWatt-peak on completion. Elaborating on B. Grimm's expertise, he said "the IPP is very easy for us, whether you build a 140 MW plant or a 1,400 MW plant, it's the same. It's just that the turbine is a bit bigger or smaller, but the complexity is the same". "However, the industrial power plant is more complex if you deliver to the state or country" for which B. Grimm has the expertise, having made a name regionally and globally. B. Grimm had also incorporated a company selling spare parts for air conditioners and refrigerators 20 years ago. But now, B. Grimm is trying to get into the combine cycle gas business in Malaysia and exploring opportunities for gas-fired power projects. "We have many projects in Thailand and we are the largest supplier of power in 10 special economic zones, and we are also active in three countries, namely Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. We are really good in supplying uninterrupted electricity to the industries," he said. Among the power plants operated by B. Grimm is a 140-MW co-generation plant in Chon Buri province, located in the Laem Chabang Industrial Estate, which began supplying electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and industries within the estate. Link said that uninterrupted power supply is crucial for industries, for which B. Grimm has the solution and expertise, operating a distribution network that caters to both medium- and high-voltage power requirements. Apart from gas-based energy, B. Grimm supplies solar power from rooftops and batteries and despite the perception that Malaysia has limited capacity for wind energy due to geographic and climate factors, he emphasised that extracting power from wind energy is possible. "We have invested in hydropower, wind power, solar power and gas, and we're doing this in more than 15 countries. "We were the first private entity to build an offshore wind plant in South Korea. We built it with turbines, with each wind turbine standing between 100 and 150 metres tall, with the generator, blades and gearbox located at the top. The gearbox is used to transfer power," he said. Link also said that B. Grimm has invested in a company in Germany that eliminates the need for a gearbox, which results in fewer mechanical issues and reduces the risk of breakdowns.
