'THE difference between dating and love is that dating is difficult and love is easy,' declares Lucy (Fifty Shades Of Grey's Dakota Johnson).
And she has set up nine first encounters between strangers that resulted in an 'I do', so she should know.

Lucy is a 30-something professional matchmaker in New York, where chance meet-cutes are off the table and betrothal is a business transaction.
Her wealthy clients are her commodities, and matrimony closes the deal.
In the agency where Lucy works, staffed solely by shrieking women with blow dries and high heels, the database of single men and women all hoping to be connected with 'the one' are given impersonal monikers and their vital statistics — net worth, weight and personality — are ruthlessly dissected.
Expectations are high while the merchandise is often — literally — low.
Males of diminutive stature be forewarned: the height of men is made to be a very big deal here and measuring in under 5ft 11in referred to as negative.
Balding, overweight, egotistical men demand to be set up with 'fit' 20- something females but, as Lucy notes wryly, no man is ugly 'they just don't have money'.
Meanwhile ordinary women in their thirties continually fall by the wayside.
'I just want to settle for someone,' laments 37-year-old singleton Sophie, the normal girl who guys with high opinions of themselves aren't interested in.
It's a situation that anyone who has been at the sharp end of the dating scene will relate too, even if the swipe-right world of singles apps is never mentioned here.
The Ballad of Wallis Island film review- This story of love, loss, and folk music will tug on your heartstrings
But Lucy's personal life isn't following the script.
'Born poor', her head tells her to find a man who offers financial security.
Millionaire Harry (Pedro Pascal) ticks all the boxes.
He picks up the bill, is kind and keen to put a gigantic ring on it.
But her heart says otherwise, thanks to the reappearance of John (Chris Evans), her financially unstable actor ex.
Does Lucy want a life of luxury or is it more important to find a 'Grave buddy'? Writer-director Celine Song's (Past Lives) tale offers some sharp, and uncomfortable takes on the romcom trope and lifestyles buffed up with the sheen of money hold your attention.
But the love-triangle leads lack some chemistry and the ending is predictable.

EVEN assassins need a break and with family time falling by the wayside in favour of dispatching bodies, Hank (Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk) decides a holiday is in order.
Nostalgic for his childhood vacations, he whisks wife Becca (Gladiator's Connie Nielsen) and their offspring to retro waterpark Plummerville.
4
But the tourist town turns out to be filled with crime -lords, so Hank is reluctantly back to the day job.
Reprising their roles from the 2021 original – where Hank revealed himself to be a cold-blooded hitman living as an ordinary Dad – he and 'Momma Bear' Becca continue to make a convincing couple.
Quick-fisted son Brady (Gage Munroe) shows traits towards the family trade and there's non-stop action set pieces from director Timo Tjahjanto.
The violence is extreme but with Hank clad in garish vacation shirts and hats it also serves up laughs and feels slapstick.
Think lacerated eyeballs and decapitations but on fairground rides, and duck-themed river boats.
Sharon Stone plays drug-lord Lendina and there are morals about family values for good measure.
It's brutal, big-screen fun. But if you don't like your action with a bit of silliness it probably won't convince.

REAL-LIFE couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie headline this semi-comedic body horror from first-time writer-director Michael Shanks.
They play Tim and Millie, an amiable yet co-dependent pair who swap the bustle of the city for the supposed tranquillity of a small rural town, only to find something altogether darker lurking beneath.
4
Millie, a teacher, greets the move with enthusiasm, seeing it as a fresh start.
Tim, a musician whose dreams of stardom are receding fast, is far less convinced.
Their uneasy adjustment is halted when they stumble upon a mysterious subterranean chamber during a walk in the woods.
Trapped overnight, they emerge to find something has followed them home, a presence that feeds on their deepest insecurities.
Shanks plays with the metaphor of romantic co-dependency through the lens of horror, blending bodily mutation with creeping psychological unease.
This works up to a point, but the film often lays its allegory on too thick, leaving little to unpick.
What keeps it watchable is Franco and Brie's chemistry, which lends heart to the grisly absurdity.
A flawed but intriguing debut.

Jared Goff opens up on 'crazy' Taylor Swift shoutout on viral New Heights episode that broke the internet

After he was name-dropped by Taylor Swift minutes into her highly anticipated appearance on New Heights, Jared Goff has broken his silence on the 'crazy' reaction he received to the shoutout. Swift used Goff in her analogy when describing her level of football knowledge when entering her first date with now-boyfriend Travis Kelce over two years ago. Kelce, who hosts New Heights with older brother Jason, were coming off of being competitors during the most recent Super Bowl when Swift began her romance with the tight end. Swift inquired on the date about Kelce's personal life and asked what it was like to compete in a Super Bowl against your brother five feet away from each other. She described it as Jared Goff and Josh Allen on the field at the same time. Of course, offenses do not play each other, with Swift realizing now how 'insane' her question was. It's safe to say she's learned a thing or two since about the Lions and Bills quarterbacks since beginning a relationship with one of the best tight ends of all-time. 'Yeah, pretty crazy, huh?' Goff said of the shoutout. 'Very cool I guess, it was a crazy couple hours last night for me and my phone.' 'It was a crazy couple of hours for me!' #Lions QB Jared Goff on being name dropped by Taylor Swift on last night's @newheightshow podcast. — Hobie Artigue (@HeyItsMeHobie) August 14, 2025 Swift's appearance on New Heights was so in demand that the channel's stream temporarily crashed on YouTube. During the episode, Swift briefly broke down in tears as she opened up on her long battle to reclaim her masters. She also lifted the lid on her whirlwind romance with Kelce, her father's recent heart surgery and her epic Eras Tour. And the NFL star quickly went viral after showering his girlfriend in compliments and affection. 'I'm the luckiest man in the world,' Kelce said repeatedly. The couple finished the episode with a kiss, after he was also seen holding and stroking Swift's hand and even kissing her head - much to the anger of some of the 1.3million fans who tuned in for the live stream. Travis also gushed over his girlfriend during the near-two-hour show on Wednesday night. 'I give the Eras Tour credit (for our relationship) because if I had never gone to that show and been mesmerized and captivated and left with such a desire to want to meet you, I would never have gone on here and told everyone how butt-hurt I was,' Kelce said. 'I have never been just so engulfed in the curiosity of who you were.' Goff was not mentioned again during the show. However, one mention shows the influence of Swift with the Lions star's phone ringing off the hook.

Jennifer Lopez flashes her nude bra in a lace top as she admits she had 'a difficult time in my life' when shooting Kiss Of The Spider Woman

Jennifer Lopez didn't shy away from showing her sexy side in a recent photo shoot. The multi-hyphenate, 56, who displayed her derriere in another sultry shoot, showcased her curves in a sheer lace top with a nude bra beneath it and a pair of matching lace pants for the cover of Out Magazine. The actress had her hair styled in a loose updo with thin tendrils framing her face for the interview promoting her upcoming Kiss of the Spider Woman. The Hustlers star's makeup looked camera ready but natural as she leaned on a cream toned loveseat. The actress was joined by her co-star Tonatiuh, 30, who looked handsome in a tuxedo with a loose fitting cream dinner jacket and a white tuxedo shirt. This comes almost one year after she filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in Los Angeles County Superior Court on August 20, 2024. The singer, who recently completed the European leg of her Up All Night tour, took a break from the road show for the interview. The actress, who was working on the film in Spring 2024 amid rumors of trouble in her marriage to Affleck, 53, offered a small glimpse into her mindset at the time. 'It was one of the most beautiful moviemaking experiences I've ever had, and also at a difficult time in my life, but it … just filled a part of me that was waiting to kind of come alive for so long,' she said of the experience. In the film, Lopez is part of a trio with Tonatiuh and Diego Luna, 45, who are prison cellmates in Argentina in the 1970s. Tonatiuh's Luis Molina has been imprisoned for homosexual activities, and Luna's Valentín Arregui is a political prisoner. Lopez is actress Aurora, about whom Molina tells amazing stories to keep himself and Arregui occupied in their dank prison cell. Through the fantasy, the two men build an emotional bond. 'This very intense experience they have of being locked in the cell together and helping each other survive, they're able to see straight into [the] humanity in one another and fall in love,' she told the outlet. Opening up about her on philosophy she declared, 'To me, that is the real definition of love. 'It doesn't matter what somebody looks like or where they're from or who they are or what background — it's just looking at a person and seeing their soul.' Lopez and Affleck who first met on the set of 2003's Gigli, fell in love and got engaged in November 2002 but it did not last. They parted ways two years later. The pair got a second chance at love, reuniting in 2021 and tying the knot in 2022, first in a Las Vegas wedding in July followed by a much more formal affair in August. Two years after their formal wedding, Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, 2024. To fans looking forward to seeing her in Kiss of the Spider Woman when it opens in theaters October 10, she offered this promise.

Sean Kingston sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for $1m wire fraud scheme

Sean Kingston has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison by a Florida court for a $1m wire fraud scheme, according to NBC South Florida. The 35-year-old singer, born Kisean Anderson, was found guilty in a South Florida court in March alongside his mother, Janice Turner, for accruing about $1m worth of luxury items through falsified payments that never cleared. Turner was sentenced in July to five years in prison with three years probation. The two were initially arrested in May 2024 on theft charges after a Swat raid on Kingston's South Florida mansion. Investigators told the court that Kingston used social media from April 2023 to March 2024 to arrange purchases of luxury items, and invited sellers to his Florida homes with the promise to feature them and their merchandise on his accounts. When it came time to pay for the items, such as a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade or an Audemars Piguet watch, Kingston or his mother texted the sellers fake wire receipts. During her trial, Turner admitted to falsifying wires for her son, which she claimed was an effort to protect him from scammers by delaying payments for luxury items. Kingston refused to testify. As evidence, the prosecution presented texts from Kingston to his mother that read: 'I told you to make [a] fake receipt' followed by 'so it [looks] like the transfer will be there in a couple [of] days.' Before the judge delivered his sentence, Kingston apologized and said he had learned from his actions, according to the Associated Press. His lawyer had previously asked the judge for home confinement, due to the non-violent nature of the crime and the fact that Kingston had paid back most of the people he defrauded. Born in Miami and raised in his parents' native Kingston, Jamaica, the singer remains most famous for his 2007 single Beautiful Girls, which topped the Billboard charts. He has released four albums and collaborated with the likes of Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown. In 2011, he scored a modest hit with Justin Bieber on the track Eenie Meenie. According to federal court records, Turner pleaded guilty in 2006 to bank fraud for stealing over $160,000, and served nearly 18 months in prison. Both Turner and Kingston have been sued multiple times for failure to pay for luxury items, most recently by a Florida entertainment systems company in February 2024.
