Malin Åkerman and Her Husband, Jack Donnelly, Knew Each Other 4 Years Before Dating

THE RUNDOWN Jack Donnelly is a British actor and writer who is well known for his role in BBC's Atlantis as well as co-starring in several projects with his wife, Malin Åkerman. He and Åkerman met through her sister's boyfriend and married in Tulum in 2018. Offscreen, the couple lives in Los Angeles with Åkerman's son, Sebastian. In The Hunting Wives, Malin Åkerman leads an elite inner circle, but in real life, she's been building a quieter love story with her husband, Jack Donnelly. The actress, who stars as Margo Banks in the new series, has been married to the British actor and writer since December 2018. From starring in films together to supporting each other's creative work, the couple has built a life together in Los Angeles with Åkerman's son, Sebastian. Here, everything to know about Donnelly and his relationship with Åkerman. He and Åkerman met through her sister. Åkerman first met Donnelly through one of her sister's boyfriends. '[Donnelly] is actually my youngest sister's boyfriend's friend from drama school in England,' Åkerman revealed during an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan in 2o18. 'I had known him for the past four years but didn't see all of a sudden he came back from England like a year-and-a-half ago, and I went, 'Wow, have you always been this cute?'' They tied the knot in a beach wedding in Tulum. Donnelly's 2017 proposal to Åkerman was thoughtful and personal. 'Jack came to the door with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and proceeded to take me out for dinner at my favorite spot in Brooklyn,' Åkerman told Vogue in 2018. 'We sat in the garden and closed the place down. When we got home, he called me to our room, where he got down on one knee and asked the big question with a beautifully designed ring.' They married on Dec. 1, 2018, at the Papaya Playa Project in Tulum, Mexico. 'It was all about being adhering to somebody else's standard of what a wedding should be,' Åkerman told Brides. 'We wanted the wedding to feel real to us. It gave us a lot of freedom.' They've worked together. Donnelly and Åkerman have collaborated on multiple projects, including Friendsgiving, A Week in Paradise, and Slayers. In Friendsgiving, they starred as a couple and filmed a sex scene together. 'Any chance I get to have him do a scene like that, who better than to do it with than your husband?' Åkerman said during an appearance on The Talk in 2020. 'It's a really, kind of, intimate, crazy scene and thank God we know each other well enough instead of just meeting somebody on the first day and [doing] this crazy S&M scene. It was lovely to have him there.' Donnelly said that filming with Åkerman in Slayers, a vampire horror-comedy, was one of his favorite professional experiences. 'Malin and I are married, so any opportunity we get to work together, we always love it because it means we can keep the family together and travel together,' he told Bleeding Cool in 2022. He starred in BBC's Atlantis and played a vampire target in Slayers. Donnelly is well known for playing the lead in the BBC fantasy series Atlantis, and has appeared in United We Fall, Slayers, and the short comedy series The Players. In Slayers, Donnelly embraced a genre he hadn't tackled before. 'This is one of the only projects where I've not taken my top off at any point,' he joked to Bleeding Cool. 'This is the first time I've done an American accent on camera,' he added. 'I had such a good time doing it. Working with these guys and Asher, I would go back to this team and do more horror. Neither Malin nor I were huge horror fans in the past, but after doing this and exploring it, it was more like, 'There's stuff here that we'd like to get into again.'' He's also a writer and director. In addition to acting, Donnelly writes and directs. He directed and starred in the short series The Players in 2023. He's a stepfather to Åkerman's son. Donnelly has a close relationship with Åkerman's son, Sebastian, from her previous marriage to musician Roberto Zincone. 'He was brilliant with my son, and that was it, and my heart melted,' Åkerman said on Live with Kelly and Ryan in 2018. When she told Sebastian about the engagement, she recalled, 'He jumped up on the couch and went, 'Yay, we're getting married!'' When Donnelly proposed in October 2017, Åkerman posted an Instagram, writing, 'This sweet and loving man has stepped into our lives and stole both our hearts! I think we're gonna keep him around for a while. ;)' Åkerman also told Us Weekly in 2018 that Donnelly and Sebastian were 'inseparable,' adding, 'It makes my heart warm. I'm very glad to be bringing Jack into our lives for good.' He helped Åkerman become more vulnerable. Åkerman credits Donnelly with helping her grow in their relationship. 'He's a master at [communication]. He's taught me a lot,' she told People in 2023. 'He's allowed me to be vulnerable and lean into him a bit, and it's been beautiful to be able to communicate with someone who's your partner.' The couple also prioritizes intentional time together. 'I love date nights. We both live for them,' she said. 'Sometimes, when we know we're not going to be able to do a date night one week, then we go out for breakfast together.' He isn't on social media, but Åkerman shares their life online. Donnelly does not have any social media accounts. 'I'm not really on social media with Twitter, Instagram, or anything,' he told Bleeding Cool in 2022. Åkerman often posts glimpses into their relationship instead, including a heartfelt post for their six-year wedding anniversary in December 2024: '6 years ago today…and still loving you more than ever ❤️ even if we both forgot that it was our anniversary. 😳 😂 ' She's also celebrated his birthday publicly. In October 2024, she wrote, 'It's his birthday!! #jackdonnelly I couldn't have asked for a better partner ❤️ you make me laugh like no one else! You are a shining bright light and I absolutely adore you for everything that you are.I cannot believe you're still in your 30's 👀!!! #happybirthday my love.' It's beach time, amusement park time for one Nevada football team after win

High school football began on Friday night in California, and no one was having more fun than the tourists/players from Sparks, Nev., the Spanish Springs High Cougars. They flew in Friday morning on Southwest Airlines, with plans to visit the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday and Six Flags Magic Mountain on Sunday. First up was a game against Simi Valley, and it went better than expected. Brady Hummel, a senior receiver and the son of coach Robert Hummel, caught 14 passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-21 victory. There were 11 turnovers, with Simi Valley losing four fumbles and getting intercepted twice. Hummel was so wide open on one touchdown because of a Simi Valley secondary communication error that he could have been counting one Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi and still would have been wide open. Quarterback Tyson McNeil passed for 211 yards. From the opening kickoff, when Jackson Sundeen returned it for a 96-yard touchdown, the Pioneers were trying to come from behind. The two teams combined for seven turnovers in the first half. Spanish Springs held a 20-14 halftime lead. Micah Hannah and James Scida each had interceptions for Simi Valley. The Pioneers lost three fumbles. Quarterback Connor Petrov had touchdown passes of 29 yards on fourth down to Quentin McGahan and 50 yards to Cole Alejo. In the second half, Petrov was intercepted twice and also lost a fumble that turned into a touchdown. Simi Valley was 12-2 last season and defeated the Cougars in Nevada, but two new quarterbacks and a rebuilt offensive line has the Pioneers working to improve. "We'll bounce back," Hannah said. As for playing against Hummel, Hannah gave up a touchdown against him, but also picked off one of his passes. "He's smooth," Hannah said. Los Alamitos came away with a 20-12 win over Inglewood. A two-yard touchdown run Lenny Ibarra put Los Alamitos ahead for good. Los Alamitos is headed to Hawaii next week. In Henderson, Nev., Long Beach Millikan defeated Foothill 27-14. Tight end/defensive end Jude Nelson had two sacks and made nine catches. Quarterback Ashton Pannell threw two touchdown passes. Sign up for the L.A. I'm a Former Travel Agent, and Here Are 10 Things You Won't Need for a Europe Trip and What to Bring Instead

Before I became a Travel + Leisure editor, I worked as a travel agent for five years. Along with planning dream vacations, I would also offer packing advice to clients who were unsure about what to bring along on their European getaways. Summer is high season in Europe—in fact, I just returned from a trip to Paris myself. As an overpacker, I know the struggle of packing light, but it's better to curate your suitcase space ahead of time to avoid wasting space on things you won't use. I've thought about what my clients used to ask me as we planned every step of their journey, from what size baggage they would need on their international flight to voltage standards abroad to how to dress in different European cities. Here are some tips from a former travel agent on what to pack for your next trip to Europe, along with what to leave behind, all available at Amazon from $8. Small flights between European cities or on budget airlines often have more limited overhead bin space for carry-ons. Airlines will sometimes even measure your bag to enforce the size restrictions. I've had many clients who try to avoid checking a bag at all costs, so I would recommend getting a compact, malleable bag like this Osprey hybrid, which you can wear as a duffel or a backpack. I personally find it easier to wear a backpack when traveling to Europe to avoid lugging heavy suitcases onto trains or over bumpy cobblestone alleyways. Even if you carry a brick of a wallet at home, it's best to pare it down to just the essentials when traveling, and get a slim travel wallet to slip into your purse or front pocket. I think the minimalistic design of this pouch is perfect for holding a few credit cards, cash, and even coins. If your hotel has a physical key, you can attach it to the key ring or use that to secure it to a key leash inside a travel bag to keep it secure. The fabric is also waterproof and has RFID protection. It comes in more than 40 colors; I personally love a bright color, so you can find it quickly inside your bag. I'll admit I usually prefer a hard copy of a book over an e-reader, but there have been many times when I've regretted packing multiple books. I never know exactly how many I'll need, and they end up getting ripped and bent in my luggage. Plus, I hate to be that person on a plane who has their overhead light on when everyone else is trying to sleep. It's much more convenient to bring a Kindle while traveling because of the slim design, adjustable light settings, and access to a library full of books. My clients traveling abroad for the first time would ask me about what to wear in major European cities like Paris or Rome, and I would recommend leaving the short shorts or frumpy sweatpants at home, as locals tend to dress a bit more formally. There's no need to buy a whole new wardrobe, but it's worth it to stock up on a few versatile pieces. You can't go wrong with this easy-to-wear dress that will keep you cool but still covers your knees and shoulders in case you plan to visit any old churches. While you may not think twice about using an open-top bag at home, you should be more cautious about traveling with this type of purse in any big city because it's too risky for potential thieves to reach right into your bag in crowded spaces. Instead, opt for a more secure purse like this anti-theft messenger bag, which has a zipper at the top, locking compartments, slash-resistant material, and RFID-blocking panels. I also love the mesh water bottle pockets so you can stay hydrated while on the go. Many European cities have cobblestone streets, which are charming and beautiful but also difficult to walk on. Any time I pack heels, I never wear them, and I always wish I had flats instead. Stilettos are going to slow you down, and they're inevitably going to get stuck in the street cracks, so look for a pair of versatile flats that you can walk for miles in and then wear to dinner at the end of the day. These chic Vivaia flats are made from a breathable knit material, and they have an adjustable strap. They come in more than a dozen colors, and they're machine washable. As much as I love my emotional support water bottle, it's way too big to travel with and would probably garner some stares if I carried it with me around Europe. Leave the Stanleys at home, and opt for a collapsible water bottle that you can compress when not in use. This LifeStraw bottle is a game-changer because it has a built-in water filter for added protection against bacteria, parasites, and other miscellaneous objects that no one wants to find floating around inside their water. The screw-top helps prevent spills, and there's a side loop that you can attach to a carabiner if you want to hook the bottle onto a bag or backpack. Most travel steamers in the U.S. won't work in Europe because of the different voltage standards. You could consider investing in a universal adapter and voltage converter, or you could leave the heavy steamer at home in favor of a fabric wrinkle-release spray like this two-pack from Downy. At 3 fluid ounces each, they're much easier to pack, and all you have to do is spray onto your clothing and tug to see the wrinkles vanish while giving the fabric a fresh scent. Like travel steamers, if you plug in your hair dryer with mismatched voltage, it's possible to ruin your device or even start a fire. Go the safer route with easy heatless curlers like this affordable set from Kitsch. Simply wrap your hair around the flexible rod, go to sleep, and wake up with a head full of curls without wasting time getting ready. The curling rod is made from satin to reduce frizz, and the set also includes two satin scrunchies. As a travel agent, I used to get questions about whether you can bring disinfecting wipes on a plane or if that qualifies as a liquid, since the large containers have a fair amount of liquid at the bottom. You can totally bring them—I fly with them all the time. However, instead of wasting space with a cylindrical tube, I'd recommend a more manageable two-pack that you can use to wipe down not only your airplane seat, but also rental cars, hotel rooms, or your suitcase.
