Law & Order: Deputy Commissioner bans Muharram in parts of Karnataka's Ballari
After receiving reports that communal harmony could be disturbed again, the district administration invoked Section 35 (A), (B), (D), (E) of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963 to impose the restrictions. The order specifies that public gatherings, processions and assembling of effigies (Panja) are strictly prohibited in these areas during the ban.
In the Gandhinagar police limits of Ballari, restrictions are in place at Mahanandikottu. K Sooguru, Mudenur, Hirehal, Nadang, Bandral, Deshanur, K Belagal and Albanur in Siruguppa taluk are covered under the ban.
Tekkalakote, Halekote, Upparahosalli, Udegola, and Araliganur under the Tekkalakote police limits are the other areas where public Muharram observation has been banned. Sirigeri, Kooriganur, Taluru, and Karuru in Sirigeri police limits and Gonal village in Kampli too face the ban. The Section 35(A) of the Karnataka Police Act prohibits carrying weapons like swords, daggers, spears, clubs, guns, knives, batons or any objects that could cause injury.
Additionally, display of offensive or disrespectful images of individuals, public speeches, slogans, music, use of loudspeakers or demonstrations that may breach public decency or morality are not allowed.
If the order is violated, the prohibited items will be confiscated and legal action taken against violators, the DC warned.

Dharwad: A proposal will soon be sent to the state govt for the development of Indirammana Kere at Hulikeri in Alnavar taluk, Dharwad district, said deputy commissioner Divya Prabhu during her visit to the site on Thursday. Responding to this, the DC said the tahsildar has been directed to examine the complaint and take steps to clear the encroachment. The villagers also demanded the construction of a small bridge across two streams near the village to ensure easier accessibility to their farms. Built in 1984 on the tributary of Tattihalla, Indirammana Kere supports irrigation in Alnavar and Kittur taluks. Assam govt halts Aadhaar cards for adults, except SC, ST, and tea garden communities, citing illegal immigration concerns and 103 percent Aadhaar saturation. The Assam Cabinet on Thursday announced that Aadhaar cards will no longer be issued to adults in the state, except members belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, and tea garden communities, who will be granted an additional one-year window. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the decision following the cabinet meeting in the afternoon. He said that this decision has been taken in light of the state achieving Aadhaar saturation and as a 'safeguard" against illegal immigrants accessing the document. Sarma said that Assam has 103% Aadhaar saturation, but that this is at 96% among the SC, ST and tea garden communities. 'We have taken this decision because, particularly in the last year, we are continuously apprehending Bangladeshis entering the country at the border. Yesterday, too, we pushed back seven of them. But we are not sure if we have been able to catch all of them. So we want to create a protection so that no one can enter Assam illegally and take an Aadhaar and live as Indian citizens. We want to completely close that door," he said. 'If someone is left behind for whatever reason, even after one year, they will have to apply to the relevant DC, and the DC will consult all stakeholders, like the Superintendent of Police, Foreigners Tribunal and will be able to give it in the rarest of rare cases," he said. Last month, after a cabinet meeting, Sarma had announced that the government was considering a policy under which new Aadhaar cards for adults in the state would be issued only through Deputy Commissioners. He said the move was aimed at preventing 'infiltrators" from obtaining the document. Imambara in MP's Dhar handed over to PWD, security beefed up; Muslim body moves SC against move

According to a Dhar Muslim community leader Abdul Samad, a plea has been filed in the Supreme Court against the handover.
