WASHINGTON () — Three new luxury suites are coming to the Capital One Arena to bring a new experience to sports lovers in Washington, D.C.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) announced Monday that the three world-class suites (Founder Suites, Signature Suites and Executive Suites) will debut at the arena ahead of the 2026-27 season.
As part of the transformative three-year, $800 million investment, every suite at the Capital One Arena will be reimagined and rebuilt around modern design principles.
Work begins on the $800 million renovation of Capital One Arena
The private areas will provide exclusive access to the Capital One Arena's premier sports, music and cultural events. The new designs will also transform the premium entry experiences and feature four new VIP entrances, private elevators and escalators for suite holders.
MSE noted that each suite will include a customized culinary experience curated by Aramark Sports + Entertainment and the arena's exclusive food and beverage partner.
Jim Van Stone, President of Business Operations and Chief Commercial Officer at MSE, said they are reinventing what the premium experience looks like.
'Inspired by the luxury of the world's finest hotels, we are combining premier hospitality spaces with access to top sports and entertainment events. We are recreating the entire facility from the ground up, including a full transformation of every suite, to deliver VIP fan experiences that are unmatched in the region in terms of décor, culinary and beverage service, and hospitality,' said Stone.
The three state-of-the-art suites will be designed by Gensler and reflect a blend of materials and aesthetics inspired by gathering places across the national capital region.

Officials said the result of the design will be 'locally rooted and timeless.' The suites can be used for business, entertainment and creating unforgettable memories.
The venue will also serve as a dynamic conference center and business hub with more than 30 private art spaces.
'We're bringing a new level to Capital One Arena—rethinking everything from the overall ambiance to the smallest touchpoints, including the finishes, furnishings, and even the small-wares to elevate the guest experience and set a new standard of the hospitality expectations within this world-class venue,' said Andrew Jacobs, Design Director for Gensler.
In October 2024, MSE unveiled the first of the five new suite types, the Vault Suites, and construction is set to begin ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil must improve in order to help the Washington Commanders reach their goals this season.

Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil must improve in order to help the Washington Commanders reach their goals this season. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Washington Commanders were busy this offseason shipping out 2025 NFL Draft picks in exchange for veteran stars. They believe these acquisitions can bring their Super Bowl window closer than ever following a surprising run to the NFC championship game last season. Advertisement Two trades on the offensive side of the ball stand out: Acquiring receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. from the San Francisco 49ers and offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil from the Houston Texans. Samuel should be an exciting addition to breakout quarterback Jayden Daniels' weaponry, but adding Tunsil could be a game-changer ... if the investment doesn't tank. Last season the Commanders had Brandon Coleman, a rookie third-round pick, protecting Daniels' blindside at left tackle and many indications said they might keep it that way for the future. However, general manager Adam Peters chose to be aggressive in pursuit of someone more experienced. Tunsil is a five-time Pro Bowler with the Texans and highly-regarded as one of the best tackles entering his prime. But things didn't feel that way last season. Advertisement He had a noticeable dip in production from what we're accustomed to from him. ESPN notes that Tunsil did have a solid season as a blocker with just a 2.2% quick pressure rate and only 2.5 sacks allowed in 17 games, but that wasn't the whole story. His struggle came in penalties ... usually before the snap. Tunsil was flagged a league-high 19 times, with 12 being false starts. He was whistled six separate times in one game alone against the Minnesota Vikings, including three illegal formations. That particular instance could be chalked up to a bad day at the office, but this full season could also warrant some concern from a player with Tunsil's experience. Tunsil has had difficulties drawing flags before, but 2024 seemed to be an outlier that may or may not foreshadow future struggles. Advertisement Peters and the Commanders sure hope it doesn't. With a second-year quarterback, a strong offensive line is pivotal in sustaining postseason success - no matter how well Daniels can scamper out of the pocket. Washington is relying on Tunsil having more in the tank than what he showed last year. And at 30 years old, they believe he has plenty of good years left in him ... or they wouldn't turn to him to protect a QB who has his whole career ahead. Tunsil, who represents himself in financial negotiations, is entering the final year of his three-year $75 million contract signed with Houston in 2023. He'll be paid $21 million to play a premium position this season, which could be looked at as a steal given his track record to this point and inherited importance on the roster. Advertisement His performance will dictate whether the move was worth it for the Commanders, but in this win-now window, they won't be satisfied with the season Tunsil had last year. A chip on his shoulder and in a contract year? That motivation could be exactly what Tunsil needs to avoid being at the center of a flopped trade. Commanders Trade For Trey Hendrickson Pitched By ESPN

Commanders Trade For Trey Hendrickson Pitched By ESPN originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It has been an expensive offseason for the Cincinnati Bengals, with much to celebrate there. And it's been an expensive one for the Washington Commanders, too. Advertisement Who wants to spend next? In Cincy, the team broke the piggy back to keep happy their star wide receiver tandem of Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, resulting in a cost of over $275 million between the two contract extensions. But left in the dust - so far, anyway - is one more star And if the Bengals can't figure out how to also keep happy their biggest defensive star, defensive end Trey Hendrickson? Maybe that's that's where the Commanders can swoop in. Hendrickson has asked for a contract extension since the start of the offseason. He is currently slated for an over $18 million cap hit in the final year of his deal. ... and there is market-based logic now that makes it clear he can ask for $30 mil per year or maybe even more. Advertisement He was initially encouraged to seek out a trade. That didn't work. He's been involved in extension talks. That hasn't worked, either. So now comes a major turn: Teams have called; we bet that group includes Washington and GM Adam Peters. The Bengals have been steadfast in stating that they want first-round value for the veteran if they do deal him. As Hendrickson grows more angry and claims the Bengals have lied to him? That's not happening. And another twist: ESPN is suggesting a trade that would cost Washington nothing more than two Day 3 picks and young D-lineman Jer'Zhan Newton. Really? That's it? Advertisement Maybe Cincy management folds and pays the guy who gets a rather amazing 17.5 sacks per year. Or maybe it means management demonstrates a willingness to accept less than a premium pick package. Washington is shy on picks; it can only offer so much as a result of the Laremy Tunsil and Deebo Samuel trades. But Washington isn't shy about being aggressive in talent grabs. And to ESPN? Hendrickson is "grabbable.'' Commanders Trade Trey Hendrickson Would Mean Major Change in NFC East Rankings

Commanders Trade Trey Hendrickson Would Mean Major Change in NFC East Rankings originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One move could change everything. The Washington Commanders might be as good as any team in the NFL with a roster quickly fortified over the course of a year into one with legit Super Bowl hopes. Advertisement And they are coached by Dan Quinn, a defensive line guy by trade. And yet ...they have allowed themselves to get this far with a defensive line - and in this case, a defensive tackle pairing - that occupies the basement in our NFC East rankings. Maybe that's because some of the other teams have standouts in their prime. But if Washington can really catch the Philadelphia Eagles while fending off the Dallas Cowboys (and maybe the New York Giants)? The Commanders will have to get surprising stellar play from their last-place tandem. Or ... Trade for Cincinnati Bengals unhappy superstar Trey Hendrickson. Advertisement That rumor won't go away, as he's seeking at least $30 million per year for his work, which features back-to-back seasons of 17.5 sacks. Wanna flip our rankings, courtesy of NFC East beat writer Anthony Licciardi? Flip Trey to Washington. But for now ... 1. Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis Philadelphia has two gigantic starting linemen that teams cannot ignore. Carter is a rising star and one of the best defensive tackles in the league. Davis hasn't quite risen to stardom, but his blend of size and athleticism causes run-stuffing issues. 2. New York Giants: Dexter Lawrence, Darius Alexander Lawrence is a fully-fledged superstar and has made an excellent argument to be the best defensive tackle in the sport. However, New York's weak link on the defensive line was at its second defensive tackle spot in 2024. Alexander could rectify that. Advertisement 3. Dallas Cowboys: Osa Odighizua, Mazi Smith Odighizuwa is among the most underrated players in the sport and was rewarded as such with a four-year, $80 million deal in March. Mazi Smith, meanwhile, is still a work in progress. ... a first-round pick who is still figuring things out. 4. Washington Commanders: Daron Payne, Javon Kinlaw And more irony, as on name value alone, Washington deserves to be ranked higher. But after last season's struggles, it's clear this is a bottom-two pairing in the division. Payne is coming off perhaps the worst season of his career, logging just 43 tackles and four sacks. He struggled against the run, demanding the Commanders get more physical up front in the offseason. They did just that, but ... Advertisement The signing of Javon Kinlaw to a three-year, $45 million deal seems like an overpay as he too struggled mightily in 2024. If the Washington "brand-name'' guys can live up to those names? Maybe the Commanders climb out of the basement in this ranking ... and climb all the way to the Super Bowl. Or ... go get the guy who would make a major difference right now.
