Bengals hosting Ohio State defender Ty Hamilton for pre-draft visit
Hamilton is ESPN's 17th-ranked defensive tackle in this year's draft class and is listed as their No. 130 overall prospect. The 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive tackle isn't as much of a pass rusher as he is a run-stopping boulder. He's quick off the ball and does a great job getting to his space and staying put, opening things up for the guys behind him.

The Bengals are also hosting first-round defensive tackle prospect Walter Nolen this week as well. While Nolen would certainly cost the Bengals their first-round pick, a guy like Hamilton would go quite a bit later, possibly on Day 3. If the Bengals like what they have in Kris Jenkins, McKinnley Jackson, and T.J. Slaton, or if the defensive tackles available at 17 aren't to their liking, they could look to a guy like Hamilton later in the draft.
Hamilton finished the 2024 National Championship season with 51 tackles, including six for a loss, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

This was unquestionably the best game of Bennett's career It may only be the preseason, but for players like Stetson Bennett, it's the biggest opportunity he'll get to prove he's deserving of a roster spot. On Saturday night against the Chargers, Bennett made his strongest case yet for a place on the 53-man roster. It was not only his best game as a member of the Los Angeles Rams, but it was the most impressive performance by any quarterback in the NFL this preseason. That came after he had 188 yards and two touchdowns with a 100.7 passer rating the week prior. It wasn't just the stats that made Bennett's performance so strong. He looked comfortable and confident on the field, making almost no mistakes from the pocket. Bennett made accurate throws off of play action with free rushers in his face. He threw a dime to Mario Williams for a 38-yard touchdown where he fit the ball between two defenders on a rope. And when the game was on the line, he delivered with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Tru Edwards with 5 seconds left to take a one-point lead – after a 40-yard bomb on fourth-and-10. It's why they call him the 'Mailman.' If you missed any or all of Bennett's outing on Saturday, the NFL graciously shared a cut-up of every throw and run by the third-year quarterback in the Rams' 23-22 win. It was as good a performance as you'll see by a third-stringer in the preseason, looking like the National Championship-winning quarterback from Georgia again. Bennett is just about a lock for the 53-man roster after his display on Saturday, especially with Matthew Stafford's status very much up in the air. It's possible Bennett will be Jimmy Garoppolo's backup to start the year, putting him one injury away from potentially seeing the field. That's obviously not what the Rams want but having seen his play this preseason, they can at least feel comfortable with his progression this offseason.

Ohio State freshman safety adds depths to secondary after losing black stripe
Another ballyhooed Ohio State freshman has lost his black stripe. Safety Faheem Delane was officially welcomed to the Brotherhood on Saturday afternoon. Delane was the No. 8 prospect in the 2025 class at the safety position according to 247Sports. Coming out of Olney, Maryland, he has all the makings of another top-end defender on the back side of the defense. He picked the Buckeyes out of a final three of Ohio State, LSU, and Oregon. 247Sports Director of Scouting, Andrew Irvins, sees great things ahead, calling Delane "An aggressive back-seven defender that can cover the pass, defend the run, and get home on the blitz. Owns a college-ready frame having measured roughly 6-foot-2.5, 200 pounds summer before junior season. Quick to trigger and tends to play with tons of confidence. Has been utilized primarily as a box safety and a slot corner at the prep level and found plenty of success in both roles. Physical more times than not and always looking to deliver a blow. Serviceable in man-to-man situations and held his own at Under Armour's Future annual event, producing a pair of takeaways." The Silver Bullets are loaded at the safety position, but Delane is looking to carve a role early in his freshman campaign. Caleb Downs, who is the best in the country, will most likely be paired with Jaylen McClain or Malik Hartford. However, coaches seem to be impressed with what they see from the true freshman as he pushes for playing time.

WATCH: Ohio State defensive coordinator Matt Patricia gets mic'd up at practice
It's a year of a lot of new faces for the Ohio State football team in 2025. Not only did the program lose 15 players to the NFL, but it'll also be ushering in a new offensive and defensive coordinator. On the defensive side of the ball, the guy responsible for the culture there will now be former New England Patriots defensive coordinator and Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia. Most of Buckeye Nation has yet to really get to know Patricia other than a few sound bites and comments made during some of the media opportunities, so there's plenty to still learn. To help you get to know one of the new guys on the block, the Ohio State football creative team mic'd him up so you can get a feel for his personality and how he interacts with the players. He has drawn rave reviews so far this year from the coaching staff and players alike, and maybe you too can see why by watching and listening below. Receiving high praise before the season is one thing, and a great start, but it'll mean nothing if the defense doesn't perform in 2025. Something tells me the Buckeyes will be just fine.
