EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU)— In this week's final chapter of Read Across America, we take you around NEPA where some members of 28/22 News were reading to some local students.
First, we take you to State Street Elementary School in Larksville.
That is were Nick and Candace read Friday to some very attentive young people.
Candace read two books including 'Horton Hatches the Egg' to Mrs. Hoover's 3rd grade class.
And just down the hall in 4th grade Nick read 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' to Ms. Aed's class. A lot fun and we thank you for inviting us.
Meteorologist Logan Westrope was back on the reading trail again.
This time he stopped by Ross Elementary School in Hunlock Creek.
Logan read 'Misty the Cloud' a very stormy day to students, who Logan said were very attentive and asked him very good questions.
28/22's Gianna Galli got into the Read Across America spirit.
She stopped by St. Nicholas St. Mary's School in Wilkes-Barre Friday afternoon to read 'Incredible You' to Ms. Halchak's and Ms. Frank's second grade classes.
Gianna also gifted the students coloring books and crayons.
All this week members of the 28/22 News team stopped by area schools to read books to kids.

Starting Monday, crews will begin flushing hydrants from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day throughout this week and into next week. Residents should be aware that their tap water may be slightly discolored in the afternoon when their neighborhood hydrants are affected, and are encouraged to run the water to clear it prior to drinking it or doing laundry. Sidewalks to close Monday for repairs in Pittsfield City officials have shared the following schedule for hydrant flushing: Monday, June 9: Barton Road from Adams Road west to Colrain Road, then south to Silver Street Tuesday, June 10: Silver Street from High Street west to Colrain Road, then south to Sanderson Street Wednesday, June 11: Sanderson Street from Parkway west to Colrain Road, then south to Main Street Thursday, June 12: Main Street from Highland Avenue west to Munson Street then south to Montague City Road Friday, June 13: Montague City Road from Deerfield Street to Mountain Road, then Camp Avenue to Temple Avenue Monday, June 16: Bernardston Road, Adams Road, and Industrial Park Tuesday, June 17: Dead-end streets and roads All hydrant flushing work is weather-dependent and subject to change. This maintenance is set to take place to ensure that high-quality water is running through the city by removing any sediment from rusting pipe work and water main breaks. Additionally, officials stated that all hydrants in the city will be flushed, which helps identify any malfunctioning hydrants so that they can be repaired ahead of potential emergencies. Warm evening Saturday, rolls into Sunday with even warmer temps

It was a warm and mostly dry Saturday across the area, and even warmer temps are expected for Sunday. The drier air has been courtesy of Saharan dust, and this dust will stick around tonight. Just a few spotty showers are expected in the early evening, with morning lows in the mid-70s. The Saharan dust will linger into Sunday, again resulting in low rain chances and warm temperatures. Just a few widely scattered showers and storms are expected, with highs pushing into the mid-90s. Moisture quickly returns to start next week. This will bring higher chances of rain and storms returning to the area for Monday. Highs to start the week will be in the low 90s. Even higher rain and storm chances are likely for the middle part of next week, as more tropical moisture rushes back into the area. Temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the low 90s. The daily PM storm chances is expected to continue into next Thursday and Friday, with highs right around 90. Click here to download our free news, weather and smart TV apps.
