ESPN analyst ranks USC's Ja'Kobi Lane as top wide receiver prospect for 2026 NFL draft

USA Today11 hours ago

After a relatively quiet freshman season in 2023, USC wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane broke out last fall. Following a massive performance in the Trojans' Las Vegas Bowl victory over Texas A&M. Lane now enters 2025 as an unquestioned leader in USC's wide receiver room.
Lane's breakout attracted the attention of not just his Trojans teammates, but NFL Draft scouts as well. Recently, ESPN analysts Matt Miller and Jordan Reid released lists of their top prospects at every position for the 2026 NFL Draft. Reid was very high on Lane, ranking his as his top wide receiver on the board.
Here is what Reid had to say about Lane:
"I have the 6-4, 195-pound redshirt sophomore ranked higher than everyone and will continue to reside on that island," Reid wrote. "But he is a polarizing prospect who has many scouts needing to see more. Despite 12 touchdowns last season, Lane had only 528 receiving yards and was held below 50 yards in eight of USC's 13 games. There isn't a true WR1 in this class yet, so, with a bit more consistency, Lane has the opportunity to rise and be the first receiver off the board."
As Reid highlights, Lane certainly showed major flashes of his potential last season. But he still has a way's to go in terms of establishing himself as an elite NFL prospect. Fortunately for Lane, he will have plenty of opportunities to do so this fall.

Aaron Rodgers' Gesture Toward Young Packers Fan Turns Heads

Aaron Rodgers' Gesture Toward Young Packers Fan Turns Heads originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There's excitement surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers entering the 2025 season due to the signing of free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers to a one-year, $13.65 million contract. Advertisement Of course, in recent years, much of the discourse among fans and members of the media surrounding the quarterback suggests that he's developed into somewhat of a diva throughout his career. However, on Wednesday, a video originally posted to TikTok showed the newest member of the Steelers kneeling to talk to a young Green Bay Packers fan wearing Rodgers' iconic No. 12 jersey, and eventually signing it. Rodgers's exit with the Packers wasn't the smoothest, as they drafted his replacement, Jordan Love, two years early. So, many fans are praising him for still showing such kindness to the young fan. Advertisement "Around the GB area, he is legendary for being a good guy to people that would run into him," said one X user. "They can never make me hate you, 12," said another. "No amount of gaslighting in the world will ever get me to dislike this man. Favorite Packer of all time and idk if that could ever be changed," a third added. A fourth said, "I've never understood the Aaron Rodgers hate. Not in my house. Feel really fortunate we had him for as long as we did. Wishing him nothing but success in Pittsburgh! #SteelersNation." "He has always been great! True Packer fans know it. Greatest Packer of ALL TIME!" A fifth continued. Pavely-Imagn Images Of course, 2025 with the Steelers is likely the final ride for Rodgers, because during a Tuesday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," he was asked if he would be done once the season concluded, to which he responded, "I'm pretty sure this is it." If that's the case, he will be leaving behind a rich career that features a total of 10 Pro Bowl appearances, four MVP Awards, four First-Team All-Pro selections and one Super Bowl.
