Omarion Hampton couldn't be happier Jim Harbaugh is his coach
Running back Omarion Hampton had to wait until the 22nd overall pick to hear his name called in the first round of the draft last week, but he was more concerned with the team doing the picking than the number of the pick.
Hampton said on The Jim Rome Show that 'fit and situation is way more important' than position in the draft order and he made it clear that he loves the fit and situation in Los Angeles. Hampton noted the presence of quarterback Justin Herbert and a strong offensive line as well as the ability to learn from backfield mate Najee Harris.
Above all else, he's looking forward to playing for a head coach who likes to run the ball as much as Jim Harbaugh does.
'It's been great just getting to know him and everything,' Hampton said, via the Chargers website. 'We know he's going to run the ball, he's decided to run the ball and it's something he wants to do. He did it all his career, so I'm just excited to get started. With him being my head coach, I couldn't be more happy.'
It remains to be seen how the Chargers will divvy up the work in the backfield, but Harbaugh's history says there will be plenty of it to go around.

During his 2024-2025 season with Dynamic Prep, Hampton averaged 7.8 points per game and shot above 60% from the field. According to 247Sports Composite, Hampton is currently positioned as the 2nd-ranked prospect in the class, 2nd-ranked small forward, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in Texas. Advertisement What's the one trade you want to see by the time training camp rolls around? I want to see Trey Hendrickson get traded because I don't think he is going to get paid by the Cincinnati Bengals. So I'd like to see him get traded and, uh, of course, I, he's got to go to a contender. This probably wouldn't happen because it's within the same conference, but I'd like to see him get traded to the Los Angeles Chargers because they're sitting on just over $26 million in cap space right now. So they've got enough to fit the first year of a big pass rusher contract extension. The Chargers had a lot. lot of needs coming into the offseason and they do have some questions along the interior offensive line. Advertisement That's still outstanding. But the other big need that I don't think they really satisfied this year was getting more juice, uh, in terms of their pass rush. They brought back Kul Mack. That's nice. He's had, he had a pretty good season for them last year, but they did wave goodbye to Joey Bosa, and I don't think they have someone just waiting in the wings there that can fill that. So, um, I do think that's a trade I'd like to see whether it's gonna happen or not. Uh, I don't say I have like all the little compensation notes for you, but I'd love to see that one get done. Hendrickson and Khalil Mack is like perfect as far as like synergizing two edge players. Advertisement Khalil Mack is just, I mean, just a badass on rundown. It's really good against the run, still a good sack guy. You have the passer, but then you get a guy that's a true more finesse guy, and Hendrickson that you have to passer. That's the perfect little pairing. So I, I really like this one. I'm not. Um, really wasn't even came to mind maybe for Hendrickson. I've, I've been kind of just see kicking around some of the teams that have cap space, but Charles, any thoughts on this one? Yeah, it makes it makes a lot of sense, um. It's just, it's just, uh, it's probably because the Chargers like you're in a spot where you, you probably need a lot of help if you're actually going to go out there and compete for the AFC title, but your quarterback is so good that it's going to be difficult to add, uh, the help that you need. Advertisement So I think getting someone that uh that already has NFL pedigree, like Trey Hendrickson, he's only 30, so you can still get a couple more years out of him maybe before he hits the wall. I think this makes makes a lot of good sense to add him to the roster.

Kenneth Murray calls Matt Eberflus' defense "a great fit" for him
Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown said he's where he needs to be in his rehab. But Overshown, who tore the ACL, MCL and PCL in his right knee in Week 14, will miss most, if not all, of the 2025 season. The Cowboys covered themselves by trading for Titans linebacker Kenneth Murray, a first-round pick of the Chargers in 2020. Murray is working at Overshown's weakside linebacker spot in new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus' scheme. 'I think it's a great fit,' Murray said, via Clarence Hill of All City DLLS. 'I've been enjoying myself, obviously transitioning over from being traded and getting up to speed and stuff like that. Lot of things work to my strengths, coming down hill, playing the coverage, stuff like that. It's been good. It's been great being here during the offseason program, getting around the guys and just trying to come in and establish a culture and get better every day.' The Cowboys have Murray making the defensive calls over middle linebacker Jack Sanborn, who followed Eberflus from Chicago. 'I'm extremely comfortable with it,' Murray said of being the green dot. 'I've done it the majority of my career, getting us in and out of checks, being able to decipher different things, different formation, stuff like that.' Murray vows to help the Cowboys shore up their run defense. They have not ranked in the top-10 in run defense since 2018 under defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli. In the past five seasons, the Cowboys have not ranked higher than 16th in run defense, including 29th last season. 'I think it's just taking a different approach,' Murray said. 'Obviously, it's a new style coming in, and then, you know, got some new players. That's something that I'll take extremely personally. That that's mentality I'm gonna bring to it. It's personal, man. When they just running it down your throat, it's unacceptable.' Murray had 95 tackles and a career-high 3.5 sacks with Tennessee last season when he started 14 games.
