inaugurated the AI-SPS (Artificial Intelligence – Smart Policing System) in Ghazipur on Tuesday.
This advanced and state-of-the-art technology platform was officially launched with the aim of making policing smarter, more transparent and effective.

This special software was developed under the guidance of the superintendent of police, Ghazipur, in collaboration with Ghazipur Police and startup company iZil Technologies India Private Limited, Ghazipur.
This collaborative effort not only showcases the power of innovation in the Purvanchal region but also proves that there are ample opportunities for technological revolution even in smaller districts. The AI-SPS system offers features like crime mapping, predictive policing, investigation tracking and digital record management through artificial intelligence (AI) and smart data analytics, thereby enhancing the efficiency and accountability of the police force.

Soon FASTag may be used to buy insurance, pay challans
NEW DELHI: You may soon be able to use your vehicle's FASTag to pay traffic challans, parking fee, insurance premium and for EV charging, in addition to highway tolls. With nearly 11 crore FASTags issued by banks, the govt is exploring ways to expand its use as a flexible payment tool. To take this forward and firm up the next phase of FASTag growth, the road transport and highways ministry and the NHAI on Wednesday held a brainstorming workshop with top officials from the finance ministry and fintech firms. Road transport minister Nitin Gadkari said through collaboration with fintechs and other stakeholders, the govt aims at expanding the utility of FASTag into a robust platform that will 'enhance user convenience, streamline transport and mobility services'. Sources said road transport secretary V Umashankar said while FASTag has largely introduced manless tolling and eliminate barriers this can be used for other purposes linked to vehicles, such as paying for fuel, insurance premium and traffic challan, as the govt has enforced the 'one vehicle, one tag' rule. On the prospect of allowing insurance companies to issue FASTag to increase coverage of insured vehicles from 50% to 75%-90% in three years, the secretary said this is possible but there is a need to cleaning the 'Vahan' database, which has around 7.5 crore inactive vehicles. Rs 938 crore lost to cybercrooks since Jan
Bengaluru: As the financial landscape races ahead in its digital journey, a chilling new report warns of the dark flipside: Artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly emerging as the most-dangerous weapon in the cybercriminal's arsenal. In the first five months this year, Rs 938 crore was lost to cybercriminals across the state and a whopping 6,000 cases were registered. Data collated by state police shows cybercrooks made away with Rs 2,396 crore in 2024, Rs 562 crore in 2023 and Rs 113 crore in 2022. The state is seeing over 22,000 cybercrime cases per year. What is interesting is that a majority of them have been committed by deploying AI tools. "Cybercrimes are increasingly penetrating society, targeting even vulnerable senior citizens. Awareness must be created to educate society about the emerging threats," said DG&IGP MA Saleem after releasing "The State of AI-Powered Cybercrime: Threat & Mitigation Report-2025'. The report highlights how cybercriminals are leveraging AI to craft phishing emails, clone websites and even spin up deepfake-driven scams. AI tools were involved in 80% of phishing mails, which, in other words, means that they were deployed in 8 out of every 10 phishing campaigns. "AI is transforming the cybercrime landscape, enabling attackers to execute faster, targeted and personalised attacks like never before," the report warned. "This report is a wake-up call. It doesn't just document cyber threats, it reveals the human cost behind them," said Jay Vijayan, founder and CEO of Tekion.

GCC push will be competitive, political as states play catch-up
Sasmit Patra (File photo) BENGALURU: The race to attract global capability centres (GCCs) will intensify across India as states compete not just on incentives but also on political priorities, said Dr. Sasmit Patra, MP and member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and IT, at the USIBC Bengaluru Summit on June 25. 'By 2030, you will have different states openly competing for GCC investments. It's going to be competitive and political as well,' Patra said. 'Karnataka is the leader, but many states aren't as sensitised to this shift. They will have to adopt policies that match their core competencies, whether in mining, coal or bauxite, if they want to secure a share of this growth.' EV Ramana Reddy, Chairman of the Karnataka Skill Development Authority, said that the state aims to drive GCC expansion beyond its traditional hubs. 'We have announced the first dedicated GCC policy in the country. Our goal is 500 more GCCs by 2029-30, adding $50 billion in economic contribution and creating 3.5 lakhs jobs, with at least one‑third of those jobs beyond Bengaluru. We don't call it tier‑one or tier‑two anymore, we call it 'beyond Bengaluru',' he said.
