Pakistan v Ireland scorecard
Ireland won the toss and put the hosts to bat. The Pakistan openers got off to a shaky start as Feroza Gull perished for 4 in the second over off Jane Maguire as she attempted to beat the fielder on the off-side.
However, fellow opener, Muneeba Ali (32) stuck around until the 21st over as she wove a brilliant partnership with Sidra Amin (51) to stabilise the Pakistan innings.
Aliya Riaz joined the fray in the 22nd over and she went on the offense against the Irish bowlers, with a strong 52 off 58.

After the West Indies won the toss and elected to field, Scotland openers Abbie Aitken-Drummond (21) and Darcey Carter (25) got off to a positive start as they posted a 48-run partnership and set up the base for the innings.
However, West Indies struck back with two quick wickets of Aitken-Drummond and Scottish skipper Kathryn Bryce in the 12th and 14th over being dispatched by West Indies skipper, Hayley Matthews.
Megan McColl joined Sarah Bryce as they stabilised the Scottish innings through the middle overs, with a strong partnership of 82 runs. Bryce scored a positive 55 (56) which included six boundaries and McColl put up 45 (44) with five boundaries.

Penge crowned closing champion on DP World Tour

English golfer Marco Penge has claimed the title of Closing Swing champion on the DP World Tour after victory at the Made in Denmark Championship, which also sees him move to second in the Race to Dubai. The win was his second of the season, following his triumph at the Hainan Championship in China back in April. The Closing Swing comprises six tournaments, including two each in Scotland and the United States, and one each in Northern Ireland and Denmark, where Penge accumulated a total of 1,051 points. In addition to the title, Penge earned an extra $200,000 in prize money and secured qualification for the 'Back 9' series, which features nine of the season's strongest tournaments over the next two months. These lead up to the 'DP World Tour Play-Offs' in the UAE, with consecutive events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to crown the overall 'Race to Dubai' champion. At the Made in Denmark Championship, Penge finished 16 under par after a tight battle with Danish golfer Rasmus Højgaard, who finished 15 under par. Højgaard earned 389 points, rising to 37th in the 'Race to Dubai' rankings with 790 points and strengthening his chances of qualifying for the Finals, which feature the top 70 players. This season, the DP World Tour travels the globe under the banner of the 'Race to Dubai,' staging at least 42 tournaments across 26 countries and multiple continents. Players compete to finish in the top 70 of the 'Race to Dubai' rankings to qualify for the Finals, beginning with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links from 6th to 9th November. The top 50 in the rankings then advance to the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates from 13th to 16th November, where the season champion will be crowned.

ICC expresses sadness at the passing of Bob Simpson

The International Cricket Council has expressed grief at the death of former Australia captain Bob Simpson at the age of 89. In a statement, ICC Chairman Mr. Jay Shah praised Simpson's contributions and said he would be long remembered. 'Bob Simpson was one of the true greats of our sport, and it is deeply saddening to learn of his passing. His legacy is immense. As a player, captain, and later as a coach, he shaped Australian cricket and inspired the global game. 'He nurtured and guided a generation of players who went on to become legends in their own right, and his influence extended far beyond the field. 'On behalf of the International Cricket Council, I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire cricket fraternity. His passing is a profound loss for the game, but his contributions will always be remembered and cherished.' An ICC Hall of Famer, Simpson played 62 Tests for Australia between 1957 and 1978, scoring 4,869 runs at an average of 46.81 with 10 centuries, 27 half-centuries and a highest score of 311. A fine leg-spinner, he took 71 wickets at 42.26 with two five-wicket hauls and best figures of five for 57. He was also an astute fielder, taking 110 catches. After retiring in 1968, Simpson made a famous comeback as Test captain in 1978 at the age of 41, to lead a weakened Australia side. After retirement, he became Australia's first full-time coach and was also a national selector.

Saliya Saman banned for five years under Anti-Corruption Code

Former Sri Lankan domestic cricketer Saliya Saman has been banned from all cricket for five years after an ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal found him guilty of breaching the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code. Saman was among eight people charged in September 2023 for breaching the Code. The charges relate to the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League and attempts to corrupt matches in that tournament which were disrupted by the ICC, the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) for the purposes of the ECB's Code for the tournament. Following a full hearing and presentation of written and oral argument, the Tribunal found Saman guilty of: Article 2.1.1 – Being party to an attempt to fix, contrive or influence improperly matches or aspects of matches in the Abu Dhabi T10 2021. Article 2.1.3 – Offering a Reward to another Participant in exchange for that player engaging in Corrupt Conduct under the Code. Article 2.1.4 – Directly or indirectly soliciting, inducing, enticing, instructing, persuading, encouraging or intentionally facilitating any Participant to breach Code Article 2.1. The ban is backdated to 13 September 2023, when Saman was provisionally suspended. The decision on merits and sanction (which has been redacted to protect the identities of the ICC's witnesses and other third parties) is available on the page here. The media release on the charges is available here. Fo more about the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit, click here.
