New Details Emerge About Eagles, Bryce Huff Trade

New Details Emerge About Eagles, Bryce Huff Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
When the Philadelphia Eagles signed edge rusher Bryce Huff to a three-year deal last offseason, the organization was hoping to add one of the better pass rushers in the game.

Huff was never able to reach that potential, though. He recorded just 1.5 sacks during his run with the Eagles last season, and was a healthy scratch during Super Bowl LIX.
Now, he's been traded to the San Francisco 49ers.
While details surrounding the trade have been pretty sparse since the two sides agreed to terms, they have finally been made public.
"Trade compensation update: it's a 2026 conditional fifth-round pick that can turn into a fourth," CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones wrote of Philly's compensation. "Condition(s) tied to performance. All pending physical."
For a player that never saw the field last season, to get a conditional fifth-round pick is a pretty solid return for the Eagles. They clearly did not have Huff in their plans for the 2025 season, and cut their losses as fast as they could.

San Francisco also has a need for edge rushers who can get after the quarterback. Depending on how Huff plays this season, there's a legitimate chance he is able to give the Eagles a fourth round pick instead.
When Huff left the New York Jets in free agency, his departure awarded the Jets a third round compensatory pick. In this case, the Eagles could be awarded a fourth-round comp pick if he reaches his agreed upon performance markers.
It is still giving away a player for lesser value. That won't change his legacy in Philadelphia.
But it at least shortens the blow of whiffing on a free agent like this. Other organizations would not have this luxury.

Cowboys Biggest Camp 'Storyline' An Easy One To Predict

Cowboys Biggest Camp 'Storyline' An Easy One To Predict originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The offseason for the Dallas Cowboys has been dominated by the contract situation of pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons. Advertisement While a new deal has been discussed and per reporting maybe valued at more than $40 million APY and thought to last around five years, so far, there have been no substantial developments between Micah and the Cowboys regarding the finalization of an extension. Yes, ideas have been pitched back and forth, but the longer it goes without getting done, the more fans shift nervously and angrily in their seats. Training camp looms as a "real" deadline in negotiations for Micah and Dallas, with Parsons stating that it is crucial for him to have a deal in place by the time he arrives in Oxnard. Given the magnitude of the deal and the player, it is no surprise that CBS Sports has named getting Micah's contract done the biggest training camp storyline. Advertisement "There's a case to be made that Parsons, who just turned 26 years old on May 26, is the best pass rusher in football," CBS Sports writes. "However, a potential training camp holdout could be looming if a deal isn't done before the Cowboys head to Oxnard, California for training camp." Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons (11).Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images With the contracts of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb dragging through training camp last offseason, Parsons won't want to suffer a similar fate. So far, Parsons has been in and out of OTAs, and being voluntary, there's nothing wrong with that, although in an ideal world, he would attend. Mandatory mini camp is just around the corner - another "deadline'' on June 10 - and Micah is expected to attend, but in what capacity is unknown. Advertisement Dallas has had a solid offseason in Brian Schottenheimer's first go-around as head coach. The missing piece? A Parsons contract extension to let out all of the unnecessary tension. "Deadlines make deals," owner Jerry Jones once famously said to our Cowboys insider Mike Fisher, and we are quickly approaching the biggest deadline in Parsons' contract talks. Will that finally end this storyline? Eagles fan Mike Trout wrote Super Bowl LIX score on his bat knob — now it's in a baseball card

NFL fans commemorate their team's Super Bowl victories in all sorts of ways, but Mike Trout might be the first to do it on a bat knob. The South Jersey native who is often seen in his end-zone seats at Lincoln Financial Field through the fall and winter wrote a special inscription on the bottom of one of his game-used bats after his Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LIX: 'Eagles 40 Chiefs 22. Fly Eagles Fly!' That knob has since been cut off the bat and put into a one-of-a-kind baseball card autographed by Trout that will be in Topps' upcoming Tier One set (release date has yet to be announced). FIRST LOOK: Mike Trout wrote the final score on his game-used bat knob 🦅🔥 — Topps (@Topps) June 1, 2025 Bat knob cards always present a rare piece of unique MLB memorabilia, but Trout, himself a baseball card collector, now has one of the more unique ones out there, with MLB-NFL crossover appeal. It's far from the first time the Los Angeles Angels outfielder referenced his Eagles fandom on a card, though. He wrote 'Go Birds!' on his one-of-one autographed MLB logo patch card in 2023 Topps Triple Threads and 'Fly Eagles Fly!' on his 2023 Topps Pristine 1/1 card. But if you're looking for crossover appeal for sports card and trading card game collectors, the recently retired Evan Longoria helped create what could become the most expensive bat knob card in industry history. An autographed bat knob card in this year's Tier One set for the three time All-Star third baseman contains a knob with an image of Charizard from Pokemon fame. When Pokémon and baseball collide 🤝 Evan Longoria posted this on his Instagram, a 1 of 1 bat knob featuring Charizard that will be in Tier One Baseball 👀🔥 — Fanatics Live (@fanaticslive) March 23, 2025 There's already a $100,000 public bounty on the Longoria card made by a Florida sports card shop owner. That would shatter the record for the most expensive bat knob card sold. According to Card Ladder, a 2017 Topps Tier One Honus Wagner card (not autographed) stands as the top selling bat knob card going for $24,600 in August 2022. Advertisement Longoria made it no secret that he'd been an interested buyer of the card as well. However, nothing can compare to Bryce Harper's 'RIP Harambe' bat knob card. Bryce Harper's 1/1 game-used "RIP Harambe" bat knob card… 🦍🔥 — Topps (@Topps) February 19, 2025 Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich and Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Junior Caminero added their own twists to their upcoming Tier One bat knob autographed cards. They each have images of their 2024 Topps Series One cards on the knobs. While collectors wait for Tier One's release, they can also hunt for bat knob cards in the new Topps Sterling set, which went on sale Wednesday. The set bears 81 autographed bat knob cards from a mix of current players like Trout, Mookie Betts, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto as well as former players like Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz and Cal Ripken Jr. They keep getting better… This stack of game-used bat knob cards will be featured in 2025 Sterling. Baseball Fans in Disbelief After Unfortunate Paul Skenes News

Baseball Fans in Disbelief After Unfortunate Paul Skenes News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's supposed to be a good thing when Paul Skenes and Boston Red Sox legend Pedro Martínez are in the same sentence. Advertisement Unfortunately for Skenes, he plays for a last-place Pittsburgh Pirates team that offers him no run support. Skenes limited the Houston Astros to three hits and one walk on Tuesday night. Although the reigning NL Rookie of the Year struck out eight, he, unfortunately, allowed a seventh-inning home run to Astros first baseman Christian Walker; that one run gave him a tough-luck loss in Pittsburgh's eventual 3-0 defeat, dropping him to 4-6 despite a brilliant 2.05 ERA. If that line sounds familiar, it's because Skenes posted similar numbers in a 1-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on May 18. Skenes struck out nine, walked none, and allowed just one run that night. Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Paul SkenesBrad Penner-Imagn Images As X/Twitter user @jayhaykid pointed out, no pitcher had earned losses in starts of at least eight innings with one or no earned runs, one or fewer walks, and at least eight strikeouts since Martínez in 2000. Advertisement 'I tried to type out 50 tweets but my [expletive] head kept hurting,' one user replied. Asked another: 'How do [general manager] Ben Cherington and [owner] Bob Nutting sleep at night?' Such is life for Skenes, who leads National League pitchers with a 3.2 bWAR despite his offense's best efforts. The Pirates are 5-8 in his starts, and they've scored two or fewer runs in four such games. Unsurprisingly, Skenes is 0-4 in those starts with a 1.86 ERA and 27-7 K-BB ratio over 29 innings. 'And the season isn't even halfway over!' a commenter pointed out. 'Imagine the new records Skenes can set with this offense supporting him!' Advertisement One fan tried staying positive. 'On the bright side of things, at least it happened this century,' they pointed out, 'which is better than 'hasn't happened since the early 1900s.''
