Missing man last seen Saturday in Denver's Montbello neighborhood
Gary Holt was last seen on Saturday, May 10, in the 5000 block of North Upton Court, which is in Denver's Montbello neighborhood. The Denver Police Department issued a missing and exploited person alert on Monday.

Holt is described as a Black male with salt-and-pepper colored hair and brown eyes. He's about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds, according to DPD.
Police said Holt was last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. They said he also reportedly suffers from cognitive impairment.
Anyone with information about Holt's whereabouts is asked to call the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000. The case number associated with Holt's disappearance is 25-238160.

Texas Democrat abruptly leaves DNC call after being warned she's committing felony
A Texas Democratic state lawmaker abruptly left a call with Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Ken Martin and other top party leaders on Wednesday after she was warned she was committing a felony. 'Sorry, I have to leave,' state Rep. Nicole Collier (D) said at one point in the call, interrupting Martin. 'They said it's a felony for me to do this. Apparently I can't be on the floor or in a bathroom.' 'You told me I was only allowed to be here in the bathroom,' she told someone who was out of view of the camera. Democrats who wanted to leave and come back to the Capitol in between when the House met could only do so after 'agreeing to be released into the custody of a designated DPS officer appointment under the rules of the House,' according to Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows (R). They also have to sign a form saying they will come back to the state legislature. Collier declined to agree to the terms and instead has slept inside the state legislature in protest. It was not clear exactly what Collier did that constituted a felony, though the incident angered Democrats on the call. Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) blasted the news as 'outrageous,' saying 'Rep. Collier in the bathroom has more dignity than Donald Trump in the Oval Office,' said Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.). 'That is outrageous. What they're trying to do right there, is silence an American leader, silence a Black woman and that is outrageous,' he added.

‘Stupid white hippies': Top Trump adviser dishes harsh words amid backlash
White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller is telling critics to stick it. Miller, alongside Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, traveled to Union Station on Wednesday to meet with National Guard soldiers stationed at the transportation hub. The visit came as demonstrators have taken to the streets in Washington, D.C., to protest President Donald Trump's recent announcement of a federal takeover of the police department and the deployment of the National Guard in the city. 'For too long, 99% of this city has been terrorized by 1% of this city... We are not going to let the communists destroy a great American city, let alone the nation's capital,' Miller said during a news conference inside the station. Miller also claimed that the protesters have 'no roots' and 'no connections' to the city. 'They're the ones who've been advocating for the 1%. The criminals, the killers, the rapists, the drug dealers. And I'm glad they're here today, because me, Pete and the vice president are all going to leave here, and inspired by them, we're going to add thousands more resources to this city...,' Miller said. 'So we are going to ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old, and we're going to get back in the business of protecting the American people and the citizens of Washington, D.C.,' he added, noting that 'most of the citizens who live in Washington, D.C., are Black.' In similar remarks, Vance capitalized on a 'free D.C.' slogan from protesters, saying 'Let's free D.C. from lawlessness.' 'It is kind of bizarre we have a bunch of old, primarily white people who are out there protesting the policies that keep people safe when they have never felt danger in their entire lives,' Vance continued. Vance also pointed to D.C. having a 'terrible crime problem,' telling reporters to 'look around' and talk to a resident. As the White House has touted more than 550 arrests since Aug. 7, as the Trump administration began increasing the presence of federal law enforcement, Democratic lawmakers and critics have maintained that Trump has continued to exaggerate the problem at hand. Many, including local officials, have pointed to data found on the Metropolitan Police Department's website. Police data reports a 27% drop in total violent crime as of Tuesday, compared to statistics from last year. The department also shows decreases in all crime categories in the city, including homicide, robbery, sex abuse and burglary. In early January, federal officials revealed that total violent crime for 2024 had hit a 30-year low — down 35% from 2023 — after homicide reached the highest recorded number since the mid-1990s. Meanwhile, several outlets reported on Tuesday that the Justice Department has launched an investigation into whether the police manipulated data to make crime rates appear lower. Trump had hinted at a probe in a post on social media earlier this week. 'D.C. gave Fake Crime numbers in order to create a false illusion of safety,' he wrote on Truth Social. 'This is a very bad and dangerous thing to do, and they are under serious investigation for so doing!' In a separate post, Trump also claimed that D.C. has become the 'safest' and is 'getting better every single hour.' WASHINGTON ― Top Trump administration officials including Vice President JD Vance fired back at noisy protesters targeting the recent federal takeover of Washington D.C. during a scene at Union Station, the city's transit hub. Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Stephen Miller, a senior White House official, dropped by Union Station unannounced on Aug. 20 for a photo-op to tout President Donald Trump's recent deployment of National Guard troops to the nation's capital to crack down on crime. But as the trio spoke from a Shake Shack to claim credit for bringing down crime, a small group of protesters could be heard from the main hall chanting "Free D.C.!" and producing a drumbeat of noise that visibly irritated the three Trump officials. Vance, who claimed violent crime in D.C. has dropped 35% in nine days, also took note of the loud demonstrators. "Of course, these are a bunch of crazy protesters. But I'll tell you: A couple of years ago, when I brought my kids here, they were being screamed at by violent vagrants, and it scared the hell out of my kids," the vice president said. Vance said Union Sation is now a place where parents can safely bring their children again. "I know we've traded now some violent crazy people who are screaming at kids with a few crazy liberals who are screaming at the vice president, but I think that's a very worthwhile trade to make," Vance said. Trump said the extraordinary steps were necessary to combat crime in the city, even though Washington's violent crime rate was down 26% in 2025 compared with last year. The National Guard has maintained a major presence at Union Station, a frequent stop for visitors of Washington but not a destination in one of the city's most dangerous neighborhoods. "We talked to a first-responder before we came up here," Hegseth said. "They said this is their No. 1 call location ‒ Union Station ‒ for first responders. So it's not as if this is insignificant. In many ways, this is part of the epicenter." During their visit to Union Station, Vance, Hegseth and Miller thanked the guard members for their service. After speaking for 12 minutes to reporters, Vance stuck around at Shake Shack to have lunch with the troops.
