Former Texas RB Jaydon Blue gets positive injury update at Cowboys Training Camp

USA Today4 hours ago
Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fans are breathing a sigh of relief today after medical tests revealed running back Jaydon Blue's injury isn't serious. Blue injured his ankle at Cowboys Training Camp in Oxnard on Thursday and had to be carted off the field to the medial tent. But an MRI has revealed a bone bruise on his heel and not a sprained or broken ankle.
Blue was able to walk to the locker room under his own power. The Cowboys 5th round pick has been impressive so far in training camp. After some shaky mini-camps, Cowboys running back coach Derrick Foster has been impressed with his new found maturity.
The Klein Cain High School product's biggest issue at Texas was holding onto the ball. Fumbles led to decreased playing time for Blue last season. The emergence of Quintrevion Wisner helped Texas, but hurt Blue's stock.
Blue could be a big part of the Cowboys offense this season if he fixes the fumbling issues he had in Austin. He could be a better version of Tony Pollard in Dallas.

Bombshell Cowboys Report Emerges After Micah Parsons Trade Request

Bombshell Cowboys Report Emerges After Micah Parsons Trade Request originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Since being selected 12th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Penn State, Micah Parsons has emerged as one of the league's premier talents and the focal point of the Dallas Cowboys defense. Despite this, he has yet to secure a new contract. With the Cowboys having exercised his fifth-year option, guaranteeing a $24 million payday for next season, per Spotrac, Parsons now seeks a long-term extension that would set a new benchmark for non-quarterbacks in the NFL. The two-time All-Pro edge rusher has reported for camp but refrained from participating in on-field drills amid an increasingly bitter contract standoff. On Friday, a new twist surfaced as NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero revealed that conversations about trading Pro Bowl edge rusher Micah Parsons date back to the 2024 season. This came amid news that Parsons has officially requested a trade out of Dallas, posting on X that he "no longer wants to be here." Micah Parsons Career Accolades and NFL Milestones Parsons burst onto the national stage at Penn State, where he was named a Freshman All-American in 2018 after leading the Nittany Lions with 82 tackles and forcing two fumbles. As a sophomore in 2019, he earned consensus All-American honors, was voted the Big Ten Linebacker of the Year and claimed Cotton Bowl Defensive MVP honors with 14 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles in a single game. Opting out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns, he maintained his status as a top NFL prospect and was promptly drafted by Dallas in April 2021. Since then, he has racked up: NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year (2021) First-team All-Pro (2021, 2022); Second-team All-Pro (2023) Four-time Pro Bowl selection (2021-2024) Butkus Award (Pro) winner (2021) PFWA All-Rookie Team (2021) Last season, Parsons joined NFL Hall of Famer Reggie White as the only players in league history with at least 12 sacks in each of their first four seasons. The Contract Impasse: From 'One Last Time' to Trade Request Despite being considered a generational talent, Parsons and the Cowboys have been deadlocked on a long-term extension through the entire offseason. On Thursday, Parsons posted a "one last time" GIF under a photo of himself with cornerback Trevon Diggs. This was followed up with a formal trade request on Friday, citing frustration over "closed-door negotiations without my agent present" and "narratives created and spread to the media about me." The crux of the dispute reportedly stems from a spring meeting between Parsons and owner Jerry Jones, in which Jones believed he had reached a handshake agreement on revised terms. When Parsons insisted that all further dialogue move through his agent, David Mulugheta, the Cowboys reportedly refused to engage, resulting in stalled talks and widening mistrust. Dallas has yet to conduct a single negotiation with Mulugheta, and Jones has publicly downplayed Parsons's leverage by citing his four missed games last season, despite Parsons compiling 12 sacks in 13 appearances. The timing of Parsons's request comes amid a record offseason for elite edge rushers, as Myles Garrett (four-year, $160 million), Maxx Crosby (three-year, $106.5 million) and T.J. Watt (three-year, $123 million extension) have all secured new deals. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 1, 2025, where it first appeared.

Wings star rookie Paige Bueckers is ruled out against Liberty due to a back injury

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers has been ruled out of a rematch with the New York Liberty due to a back injury that required treatment during the first meeting three days earlier. Bueckers won't play Friday night in Texas after being listed as questionable the day before the game. During the second half of an 85-76 loss in New York on Tuesday, Bueckers went to the locker room for treatment. She returned to the bench and played in the fourth quarter. The No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft said after Tuesday's game she felt tightness while dribbling and thinks she has a pulled muscle in her back. It will be the seventh game Bueckers has missed. She was out four games early in the season, the first three due to a concussion before an illness sidelined her after she cleared concussion protocol. Bueckers — the overwhelming favorite to win WNBA Rookie of the Year, according to BetMGM — has been sidelined twice for rest, both times when the Wings were playing on consecutive nights. The three-time Associated Press All-American from UConn leads all rookies in scoring (15 points per game) and assists (5.4), but the Wings entered the meeting with the Liberty tied with Chicago for the second-worst record in the league. ___ AP WNBA:

Megan Thee Stallion And Klay Thompson Enjoy Intimate Fishing Date

Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion are continuing to enjoy each other's company with their latest date spent at sea. The NBA star and Grammy-winning rapper went offshore for a fishing trip, where there was much PDA and admiration for one another. Thompson, who's been an avid boater, shared a video from their latest outing on Instagram captioned: 'Boat days with Bae keep the haters away.' He added, 'Mark my words, I WILL LAND A BIG FISH BEFORE THE OFF SZN IS OVER. I will manifest it.' In the since-deleted clip, the Dallas Mavericks shooting guard is seen smiling as he praises the Houston Hot Girl, telling her, 'You're so fine, baby,' while she sits on his lap. He added, 'I got my queen on board, of course I feel cool. I'm the coolest guy in this harbor.' At one point, Megan could be seen staying put on the boat while Thompson put on a wetsuit to do a bit of spearfishing in the water. See below. The pair's fishing trip follows their recent golf date in Arkansas, where Meg posted a TikTok of Thompson helping her with her swing. 'Ever since I've been in love, my golf game's reaped all the benefits,' he said in the clip. Thompson and Megan went public with their relationship earlier this summer during her Pete & Thomas Foundation Charity Gala in New York City. At the event, Thompson sported what appeared to be a luxury timepiece valued at $300,000, which he revealed was a gift from his beau. There, Meg described Klay as the 'nicest person she's ever met.' See the couple's fishing trip above.
