‘Fubar' Season 2 review: Arnold Schwarzenegger is back to drive this middling spy comedy

Fubaris back for its second season with just as many call-backs to Arnold Schwarzenegger's blockbuster movie career. There is him dancing the Tango with the sexy former spy and lover, Greta Nelso (Carrie-Anne Moss), reminding one of True Lies. He also says his catch phrase from the Terminator movies, 'I'll be back.'
There are other reminders of True Lies peppered all through the eight episodes of the spy comedy, from James Cameron (who directed True Lies) lending a deep sea exploration vessel to using sodium pentothal as a truth serum and Tom Arnold (who plays Schwarzenegger's friend in True Lies) as ace interrogator, Norm Carlson.
There is mention of other Schwarzenegger blockbusters, including Total Recall and a riff on Schwarzenegger's one-liners, with him confessing, 'Sometimes I kill a guy and I cannot even come up with a funny line.' When a show gets that meta, it does not bode well.
Fubar Season 2(English)
Creator: Nick Santora
Cast: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Monica Barbaro, Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster
Episodes: 8
Runtime: 42 t0 59 minutes
Storyline: Team Brunner has to find an international terrorist and stop a nuclear war while former and current spies muddy the waters
Fubar tells the story of a highly decorated spy, Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger), and his daughter, Emma (Monica Barbaro), also in the CIA, getting up to all kinds of trouble. Season 2 opens with a severe case of cabin fever as Brunner, Emma, and their team are in a safe house after the events of Season 1.
In the safe house are Brunner's ex-wife Tally (Fabiana Udenio); Donnie (Andy Buckley), who Tally was going to marry before Brunner crashed the party; and Emma's boyfriend, the nice, kindergarten teacher, Carter (Jay Baruchel).
Brunner's CIA team includes tech officer, Barry (Milan Carter), Agent Roo (Fortune Feimster) of the salty tongue, and hot dude, Aldon (Travis Van Winkle), who has a thing for Emma. Aldon gets a cute piglet called Hamsteak to prove he can care for another. Dr. Pfeffer (Scott Thompson), the CIA psychologist, drops in on the safe house in various disguises, including as a pizza delivery person.
When regional CIA director Dot (Barbara Eve Harris) tells Brunner that the evil, anonymous nihilist, Dante Cress, is out to reset the world by starting a nuclear war, the new mission parameters are drawn. Greta, who was an East German spy during the Cold War and with whom Brunner had a relationship, seems to be carrying out Cress's orders. Theo (Guy Burnet) is working with Greta but falls deeply in love with Emma.
Uncovering who Cress is is the first order of business. After several false starts — including a CIA accountant who seems to be laundering money, buying superhero collectables much to the dismay of the interim regional director, Reed (Enrico Colantoni), and a Russian handler — they seem no closer to finding out who the dangerous puppet master is. Tina (Aparna Brielle), the NSA data analyst who Barry is in love with, might or might not be helping team Brunner.
With the action moving all over the globe from Tallinn to Kolkata, Fubar maintains a frantic pace and fills up the empty spaces with jokes that sometimes work. All in all, Fubar is that kind of time-pass show that you can watch while knitting or texting, or putting together that 1000-piece Agatha Christie jigsaw puzzle that you always meant to solve.
Fubar is currently streaming on Netflix

Makers of Reacher Season 4 announce cast; reveal changes made to character names

The makers of the upcoming season of Reacher have announced the details regarding its initial cast and crew. The makers of Reacher Season 4 have welcomed eight new actors to its cast. Reacher Season 4, which stars Alan Ritchson in the title role, is based on Gone Tomorrow, the thirteenth book in Lee Child's internationally acclaimed Jack Reacher novel series. The show's description reads, 'When a chance encounter with a distraught stranger on a train goes horribly wrong, Jack Reacher is drawn into a complex and deadly game that pits him against ruthless foes from the highest echelons of power.' New cast members joining Ritchson for Reacher Season 4 include: Jay Baruchel as Jacob Merrick, Sydelle Noel as Tamara Green, Agnez Mo as Lila Hoth, Anggun as Amisha Hoth, Kevin Weisman as Russell Plum, Marc Blucas as John Samson, Kevin Corrigan as Detective Docherty, and Kathleen Robertson as Elsbeth Samson. Baruchel will play Jacob Merrick, a small-town policeman. Noel will play Tamara Green, a detective with the Philadelphia Police Department. Mo will portray Lila Hoth, a young Indonesian woman who, along with her mother Amisha Hoth (Anggun), comes to Philadelphia to track down Lila's American biological father. Corrigan will play Detective Docherty, Tamara's partner. Weisman will portray Russell Plum, a freelance journalist in Washington DC who has been surveilling a suspected CIA black site. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Blucas will play John Samson, a U.S. Congressman, while Robertson will play his wife, Elsbeth Samson. Reacher fans familiar with Gone Tomorrow may notice that the OTT series has tweaked some of the character names from the novel, with Merrick replacing Mark, Tamara swapping in for Theresa, Elspeth trading out the 'p' for a 'b' to become Elsbeth, and Svetlana becoming Amisha. The only major characters from Gone Tomorrow who remain to be cast for Season 4 are Susan Mark (likely Susan Merrick in the series) and Mr Springfield. The streaming platform handed Reacher an early Season 4 renewal back in October 2024, four months before the third season premiered on the platform. It went on to become the biggest returning series in the streaming platform's history. The first three seasons of 'Reacher' are now streaming on OTT. A release window for Season 4 has not yet been announced.

‘The Rookie' season 8: Chenford's future, Monica's deal & key plot questions answered

Season 8 of The Rookie will explore Tim and Lucy's reconciliation, Monica's immunity deal, Oscar's escape, and new character arcs, premiering in 2026 on ABC Tim and Lucy's relationship status in season 8 Season 7 of The Rookie concluded with Tim and Lucy still separated. Despite reconnecting throughout the season, including intimate moments on Valentine's Day and April Fools', the finale showed a miscommunication. Lucy fell asleep during an important conversation about their future due to her night shift.'I think we've earned where they're going, and the promise of that scene is a corner has been turned,' said showrunner Alexi Hawley. He confirmed the couple will reconcile but declined to reveal specific timing. 'I do think that we've put those characters through a lot on their journey back, and I think we're almost there,' Hawley added. Also read: The Rookie Season 7: Episode 11 release date, time, plot, where to watch and episode schedule Lucy's role and night shift timeline Lucy passed the sergeant's exam and began working the night shift, where she managed a team with low engagement. The series showed her excelling in this new role despite workplace challenges. 'How does she get these guys in shape and how does she do her job and all that kind of stuff was really important to show in that episode,' said Hawley. The shift may not last long, as the schedule isolates Lucy from the main cast. 'I think ultimately that obstacle would get old fairly quickly, so it's on us to figure out a way to move past that at some point,' Hawley noted. Monica's immunity deal and Oscar's escape The finale saw recurring antagonist Monica secure an immunity deal using sensitive information stolen from a Los Angeles NSA facility. Although LAPD officers are determined to hold her accountable, Hawley acknowledged the limitations. 'I think it's tough with immunity deals especially made at the top of the food chain for anybody lower to affect them. But we'll see. Never say never.'Also read: The Rookie Season 7 Episode 6: See release date, where to watch, what to expect and trailerMeanwhile, Oscar escaped once again after kidnapping Nolan. He murdered two accomplices when unable to pay them, continuing his evasion of law enforcement. Hawley acknowledged the need for resolution. 'In a show full of nemeses for our characters, he's just a really fun one… I would say next season we would need a little bit of resolution on that.' New characters, Wesley's future, and potential crossovers Season 7 introduced new rookies with mixed outcomes. Miles (Deric Augustine) was promoted to series regular, while Seth (Patrick Keleher) was written off following serious injuries. The introduction of a new rookie is expected in Season 8. Additionally, Wesley's storyline may expand following D.A. Sean's exit. 'I think that there'll be some interesting story to tell there,' said Hawley. 'So yeah, no, you're not wrong. We're going to keep that going.' While no official announcement has been made, the shared TV universe continues to create new opportunities for narrative expansion.
