General Hospital and Guiding Light soap star Joe Marinelli dead at 68
Veteran TV actor Joe Marinelli, best known for his parts on shows including General Hospital, Santa Barbara and The Morning Show, has died at the age of 68. Marinelli's death was confirmed by his friend, artist Leigh J. McCloskey, who said you could not find a 'a sweeter man or a dearer friend' than the late entertainer. 'Joe was a champion,' McCloskey said. 'He was a great acting partner, teacher, philosophical friend, passionate believer in people. He added the late actor was 'a storyteller extraordinaire that with laughter and depth revealed the human spirit so beautifully and in so many different ways.' Marinelli portrayed the character Bunny Tagliatti, a cross dressing crime boss, on 171 episodes of the soap Santa Barbara between 1988 and 1990.

Viewers overjoyed as Netflix renews new show for another season despite VERY negative reviews from critics
Netflix has officially renewed the romantic western drama Ransom Canyon for a second season. The soapy series became a surprise hit for the streamer when it premiered in April, debuting at No. 2 on the weekly Netflix charts. It continued to surge in the following weeks and eventually topped Variety's most-streamed TV list with over 2.6 billion minutes watched. To put its popularity into perspective, the second most-streamed show, Paramount's Mobland, logged 530 million minutes watched. Viewers have been overjoyed by the news of a season two, with many flocking to social media to share their excitement. 'Let's rock and roll baby!' gushed one fan, while another wrote, 'This is what dreams are made of!' A third commented, 'The only good news on the internet today.' 'Season two better have 25 episodes!!!!! I love Lucas and Lauren so much,' wrote another. However, not everybody was impressed with the series, which has suffered from mixed critical reviews despite its success on streaming. 'Josh Duhamel is just not a good actor... Minka Kelly honestly was the only bright spot in the whole show for me,' commented one. 'Ransom Canyon is Heartland, Virgin River and Hallmark. Terrible writing, terrible!' wrote another. Reviewers seemed to dislike season one more than viewers, with headlines calling it 'a try-hard Western' that is a 'far cry from Yellowstone,' and 'goes down easy but leaves a weird aftertaste.' Ransom Canyon stars Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly, James Brolin, Eoin Macken, Lizzy Greene, Andrew Liner, Marianly Tejada, Garrett Wareing and Jack Schumacher. USA Today gave the series one and a half stars out of four as it said, 'Peek underneath the jean jackets and cowboy hats and you'll find there's very little substance to Canyon.' AV Club said, 'The show's ten episodes are engineered for maximum escapism and bingeability.' Both Duhamel and Kelly have compared their western soap to food. The Win a Date with Tad Hamilton star, called it 'comfort food,' while the Friday Night Lights actress called it 'gooey chocolate cake.' And while many reviews compared Ransom Canyon to Yellowstone and its spin-offs, that wasn't quite on the mark. Netflix was looking to capitalize on the success they've had with romantic dramas Virgin and Sweet Magnolias, this time with some western flair. The series is adapted from the series of books by Jodi Thomas and created by Wednesday writer April Blair. Set in the fictional town of Ransom Canyon, Variety called it 'horny, absurd, and ridiculously entertaining' and 'a sexy, predictable, breezy viewing experience that delivers on its promises.'

Harrison Ford's wife Calista Flockhart, 60, looks frail as she makes a rare public appearance
Harrison Ford 's longtime actress love Calista Flockhart looked frail as she was seen on a rare solo public outing this week. Ally McBeal star Flockhart, 60, who was snapped kissing her husband, 82, on the NYC subway in April, went make-up free and donned a trucker cap as she headed out in LA. Flockhart looked near-unrecognizable as she swept her hair back from her face and wore a casual look of a sweater and baggy jeans over her thin frame. She later covered up her face with a black mask. The star was last seen on a red carpet with her Indiana Jones icon husband Ford back in October 2024. Last year, Calista - who is Harrison's third wife - joked that he was 'afraid' of her, during an appearance on Live! With Kelly And Mark. Shortly before, Harrison had been honored with a lifetime achievement gong at the Critics' Choice Awards, where he praised his wife from the stage. 'I want to thank my lovely wife, Calista Flockhart, who supports me when I need a lot of support - and I need a lot of support,' he said. Calista later remarked that the award was 'an emotional thing' and she was 'very proud,' as her husband's 'body of work is so incredible and it's so well-deserved.' They met at the 2002 Golden Globes, and by the following year, they were living together and Harrison announced he was 'in love' with her, via Hello! magazine. 'Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life,' he said. 'I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn't surprised that I did,' added the Indiana Jones icon, who was then 60. Calista remarked then that their age gap 'doesn't faze me. Sometimes I even say: "Wow, I keep forgetting that he's 22 years older than me."' She insisted: 'It doesn't factor into our relationship at all. I like the way he looks first thing in the morning. It's not handsome, it's more cute. He looks like a little boy.' Notably, Harrison and Calista have never worked together onscreen despite having been romantically involved with one another for over two decades. 'That's just the circumstantial reality where we haven't been offered something where we'd work together,' he told Us Weekly this February, adding that he would 'love to' work with her. Fans can currently catch Harrison on the Apple TV+ sitcom Shrinking, led by Jason Segel who plays a newly widowed therapist attempting to cope with his loss. Harrison features on the program as an older therapist suffering from Parkinson's disease, amid a cast that includes Scrubs alumna Christa Miller and 2 Dope Queens co-host Jessica Williams. Calista also recently made a splash on the small screen, portraying Jacqueline Kennedy's younger sister Lee Radziwill on the Ryan Murphy series Feud: Capota Vs. The Swans amid a cavalcade of top-flight names like Naomi Watts, Chloe Sevigny, Tom Hollander, Molly Ringwald and Diane Lane.
