Newly-crowned IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have received Rs 20 crore for winning the 18th edition of the league while runners-up Punjab Kings got richer by Rs 12.5 crore. RCB lifted their maiden title in the world's biggest T20 league by getting the better of PBKS by six runs in an exciting summit showdown here on Tuesday, ending a long wait of 18 years for the team as well as its talisman Virat Kohli. Third-Place finishers Mumbai Indians earned Rs 7 crore for reaching Qualifier 2, while the fourth-placed Gujarat Titans were given Rs 6.5 crore for playing in the Eliminator.
Over the years, the IPL prize money has grown exponentially.
In the inaugural 2008 edition, the winning side received Rs 4.8 crore, whereas the runner-up team was awarded Rs 2.4 crore.
DDCA wins 'Best Pitch and Ground' award
The Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) has got the 'Best Pitch and Ground' award for the matches held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Besides the recognition, DDCA also got richer by Rs 50 lakh.
The stadium hosted seven matches this season, all of them being preliminary fixtures.
DDCA President Rohan Jaitley expressed his gratitude, stating, "This award is a testament to the tireless work of our curators, staff, and management. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards in cricket infrastructure."

Bank officer in Kota embezzled Rs 4.6 crore from customers' fixed deposits to invest in stock market, arrested
JAIPUR: In a massive financial fraud case, a female officer at a private bank in Kota has been arrested for misappropriating over Rs 4.58 crore from customer accounts over a span of three years. The accused, Sakshi Gupta, was serving as a relationship manager at ICICI Bank and is alleged to have diverted funds from fixed deposits to invest in the stock market and faced heavy losses. Police officials revealed that between 2020 and 2023, Gupta illegally withdrew money from 110 fixed deposit accounts belonging to 41 customers. She exploited a system loophole known as the "User FD" link to access and siphon off funds without triggering alerts to the account holders. The fraud remained undetected for years and only came to light after a managerial transfer at the branch. When a customer recently visited the bank to redeem a matured fixed deposit, discrepancies in the account triggered an internal inquiry. Investigating Officer Ibrahim Khan said Gupta rerouted OTPs (One-Time Passwords) from customers' accounts to her own system by linking phone numbers of her relatives. This allowed her to carry out high-value transactions without the account holders being notified. "She developed a system that intercepted OTPs, ensuring customers remained unaware of the unauthorized withdrawals. We're investigating who else may have been involved — inside or outside the bank," Khan said.

KSCA holds crisis meeting after Bengaluru stadium stampede
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 7 (ANI): The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) held a key meeting on Friday to decide the next course of action following the stampede incident outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The meeting was being chaired by KSCA President Raghuram Bhat. More details are awaited. Earlier in the day, top senior officials of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), secretary A Shankar and treasurer ES Jairam, tendered their resignations from their posts, taking 'moral responsibility' for the stampede that took place near M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. This was ahead of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team's felicitation after winning their Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a tight final on Tuesday. As per ESPNCricinfo, the resignation has been submitted to the president of the board, Raghuram Bhat. Also in Bengaluru, CID officials paid a visit to KSCA office, with the state government having ordered a CID probe into the stampede case. Apart from this, a government letter surfaced revealing that the Karnataka government had granted written permission to the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to hold an event at Vidhana Soudha to celebrate RCB's victory. The letter, dated June 4, was a swift response to KSCA's request, which the government approved by applying 19 conditions, as a huge crowd was expected in the Chinnaswamy stadium. Among the top concerns mentioned in the approval letter is the safety of the iconic Vidhana Soudha premises. 'Due to the large crowd that will gather during this event, precautions should be taken to ensure that no damage is done to the Grand Steps, statues, roads, or parks. You must be willing to cover the full repair or cost if any kind of disaster occurs,' mentions the letter. The other key conditions included, 'The program should be conducted without disrupting the traffic system. Action will be taken in this regard in coordination with the Police Department. The program should be conducted in a manner that does not interfere with office work. Keeping the event venue clean. Plastic bottles and items are strictly prohibited.' Apart from this, the event management company arranging the breakfast was asked to pay an advance security deposit of Rs 10,000, which was refundable, and a non-refundable Rs 10,000 fee. Meanwhile, a sessions Court in Bengaluru on Friday remanded four individuals, including senior Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) official Nikhil Sosale and three event managers, to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium here. They were arrested in a joint operation by the Cubbon Park Police and the Central Crime Branch (CCB) at Kempegowda International Airport in the early hours of June 6 (Friday). (ANI)

"Siraj is very, very capable": Bharat Arun on India fast bowler
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], June 7 (ANI): With India heading into what's set to be a high voltage five-match Test series in England, former bowling coach Bharat Arun has recalled some of those tactical things which could decide the fate of the Indian pacers in the swinging conditions in England. Discussing the evolution and impact of Mohammed Siraj with Revsportz, Arun took a deep dive into how conditions and angles could magnify or reduce the effectiveness of a bowler. Arun highlighted Siraj's 2021 performances, particularly how his natural angle worked well against left-handers. Arun said while speaking to Boria Majumdar on Revsportz, 'Especially when bowling to left-handers, he had an actual angle which was leaving them.' 'But he tried to cut out that angle by going round the wicket to them. And your effectiveness comes down, especially when there is a slight movement off the wicket,' he added. He pointed out a specific moment at Lord's where tactical adjustment made a significant difference. 'Especially at Lord's, where there is a slope. And if you're using it when you're bowling from the Pavilion End, and if you're going to be bowling round the wicket, you don't get the advantage of the slope,' he said. 'So, just at tea time, I remember asking him to go over the wicket and bowl. The line should be the leg of the left-hander. So, natural angle that leaves him, it will be leaving him on off stump,' he noted. Arun says that change paid off. He described Siraj as 'very, very capable' and implied that he might be one of the most important bowlers in the upcoming series due to his awareness of conditions and grasp of angles. The former India bowling coach also spoke highly of Arshdeep Singh's potential, especially in seam-friendly English conditions. 'I was particularly impressed with Arshdeep during the IPL. He could move the white ball both ways,' Arun said. He also emphasized the role of the Dukes ball in England, often considered a paradise for seamers. 'Probably the Dukes is the most bowler-friendly ball in world cricket. In terms of seam, in terms of the shine, the conditions in England are so conducive,' he remarked.
