BTS' V and IU spotted on dinner date with 2AM's Seulong and mystery woman; fans ask, ‘Where is Lee Jong Suk?
BTS member Kim Taehyung seems to have taken a military day off to celebrate IU, aka Lee Ji Eun's, 32nd birthday. On May 16, South Korean fan communities' social media handles were swamped with multiple pictures of the duo dining together at a luxurious Seoul hotel, trying to keep low-key. While initially only Taehyung's face was clearly visible in the photos, many soon decoded that the woman sitting across with a wide-brimmed hat and a flannel shirt is none other than his co-star—based on her livestream session that took place with fans on the same day, where the singer wore the same outfit.

The second youngest member of the South Korean boy band, Taehyung, earlier collaborated with IU for her music video Love Wins All, which is a bittersweet story about a young couple set in a post-apocalyptic world. The two have since maintained a good friendship, even appreciating each other in interviews and attending concerts. So it wasn't a big surprise when V took a day off to celebrate her big day, but the cosy sighting still fanned some controversy since IU is publicly dating Lee Jong Suk, who was not present during the dinner. Later, it was revealed that the duo were indeed not alone, but they also met with 2AM's Seulong and another female acquaintance.

One user who shared the picture from the restaurant, wrote, 'I saw V at MOSU TTTTTT,' according to All Kpop. They added, 'I was always calm no matter what celebrity I ran into.. But V, I'm not even a fan but he's not human. His skin looks like it was blurred by 100 percent.. And his face is 100 percent eyes.. I'm still awestruck.. Well, at least I got to take a pic(?).'

Taehyung is currently serving in South Korea's SDT, which is a counter-terrorism unit. Recently, a fellow soldier of V who was discharged from the military shared an update about the singer, revealing that not only was he promoted to Sergeant Kim rank, but also won multiple awards for his exceptional performance even in unhealthy condition. The singer chose to enlist in the special duty team while the other 6 BTS members went for regular military service. IU, on the other hand, recently wrapped up her filming for When Life Gives You Tangerines with Park Bo Gum and is back to her music and concert shows. The picture went viral in seconds, and fans are hoping for a collaboration.
'Do a drama together please,' a fan commented. 'Their chemistry is just undeniable, date guys pls,' another insisted. Others were relieved to find that it was a friendly gathering and not a solo outing. 'I figured there were other people from the start — V kept glancing to the side,' one wrote. Another added, 'Ah, turns out it was with acquaintances lololololol.' Some criticised those trying to stir controversy and said, 'I really don't get why this became such a big deal. It was probably a shared gathering to celebrate both V finishing his service and IU's birthday. What are people even doing, trying to stir things up when the female celeb is already openly dating someone else?' One more chimed in, 'Fr, she's publicly dating someone else, but these delusional shippers and forced narratives need to be put in a hospital.'
Meanwhile, IU is teaming up with Cha Eun Woo for a new track from her A Flower Bookmark album. The project would finally be Eun Woo's last before he enlists in the military. BTS, on the other hand, is set to reunite in June.

BTS' RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook to greet fans at designated locations post-discharge; BIGHIT says, ‘Refrain from visiting'
The big BTS reunion is just around the corner, and fans across the globe have already mapped out grand plans to welcome the septet—flying across oceans, fan banners, and full-blown projects. Now, BIGHIT MUSIC has dropped the much-awaited update on the remaining members still serving: Kim Taehyung, Kim Namjoon, Jeon Jungkook, and Park Jimin, all set for discharge in the coming week. Ahead of that, each of them will address fans and the nation from designated spots (not their bases) in brief, closed-door moments limited to staff, where they'll share thoughts on their time in uniform and what's coming next. Also read: BTS loses global dominance to rising K-pop stars who just beat Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish in album sales On June 5, the K-pop agency revealed that RM and V, who enlisted together but served in different units (with the Winter Bear crooner choosing to serve in SDT, the anti-terrorism counter unit, while the rapper served in STF for capital defence), will greet fans from Chuncheon. Meanwhile, Jimin and Jungkook, who enlisted under the soldier companionship program, will do so in Yeoncheon. 'Rather than at their respective bases, they will deliver brief messages and share their thoughts on being discharged at separate designated locations,' the agency said, according to Soompi. The agency further asked fans to refrain from visiting the military bases for security reasons and also mentioned that since there won't be any official events at the base, the narrow roads and limited space could pose a risk if a crowd gathers. 'We kindly ask that you refrain from visiting the military bases,' they added. The Bang Si Hyuk-led agency has not commented on whether the members will kick off their return with any public events or meet-and-greet sessions like they did during Jin's arrival. However, HYBE, in their earlier statement, said that the reunion will follow a detailed process on how the group will progress further. It's worth noting that all the remaining members serving right now have already wrapped up their solo schedules before enlistment, so it's highly unlikely they'll instantly begin working on the same. There are reports of individual world tours, especially in the case of Jungkook, but that remains to be seen. The 'Arson' crooner added 'Dreams' feat. Miguel and MONA LISA to his catalogue, and announced a tour titled Killin' It Girl just a week earlier. He's currently touring the world with his impressive setlist, playing to sold-out stadiums and landing a spot on Billboard's cover. Meanwhile, Jin, post-military, released one full-length solo album, Happy, and made his comeback with Echo in April and May 2025. As for SUGA, who's currently serving in the public sector instead of active duty due to his shoulder injury, he's set to wrap up service on June 21.

BTS confirms RM, V and Jimin, Jungkook's post-military plans: BIGHIT MUSIC warns fans against visiting base
Four out of the five BTS members serving in the military are slated to return within a short span of time. V and RM are scheduled for discharge on June 10, followed by Jimin and Jungkook's discharge on the next day. Ahead of that, their agency announced specific details regarding where fans can meet them, as per a report by Soompi on June 5. Additionally, the agency has politely asked fans to refrain from visiting their military bases. RM, V, Jimin, Jungkook's designated spot for meeting fans after military discharge BIGHIT MUSIC, the agency representing BTS, reportedly revealed that the boy band members would be greeting fans in different locations following their discharge. Separate locations have been chosen for RM and V and for Jungkook and Jimin for their post-discharge fan greetings. BTS' leader RM and V are scheduled to meet fans in Chuncheon, whereas Jimin and Jungkook will do so in Yeoncheon. Rather than organizing events at their military bases, the members will share brief messages and thoughts on their discharge at specially designated areas. BIGHIT MUSIC urged fans to not visit BTS' ARMY bases BTS' agency BIGHIT MUSIC appealed to fans to not visit the military bases where the members are currently serving, citing potential safety hazards due to the bases' limited accessibility and space constraints. "There will be no official events at the bases, and due to the narrow roads and limited space, large crowds could pose safety risks. We kindly ask that you refrain from visiting the military bases," the agency stated. BTS to be a military training completed group in June The entirety of BTS's seven members are anticipated to fulfill their military obligations by the end of June. Jin and J-Hope have already completed their service last year and are presently engaged in various activities for the group's 12th anniversary FESTA celebrations.
