Jetoptera Executes FETT for FTC-250 at Paris Air Show 2025

Barnama23-06-2025
PARIS, June 23 (Bernama) -- On the occasion of Jetoptera's debut at the Paris Air Show 2025, we are proud to announce the successful completion of the first test of the engine that will power the J-500, the 500-lb VTOL cargo unmanned aircraft system Jetoptera is developing in collaboration with Eanan Al Samma, for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) market.
The First Engine To Test (FETT) was evaluated at the VAN DER LEE Turbo Systems facilities in Zaandam, The Netherlands. The 250 kW turbocompressor, that is the heart of the Fluidic Propulsive System™, is a two-shaft engine using a free turbine that is mechanically coupled to a two-stage axial compressor designed to produce the appropriate flow rates and pressure ratios required by the FPS™. 'The FETT demonstrated a very smooth startup and operability when operated in a turbofan mode. The engine was instrumented in this configuration, to monitor pressure and temperature as well as thrust produced. The next step includes the performance mapping of the turbocompressor, followed by the integration with the FPS™ onto the J-500 airframe,' said Dr Andrei Evulet, CEO/CTO of Jetoptera, Inc.

Malaysia's automotive TIV higher by 28% in July

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's automotive sector total industry volume (TIV) jumped 28 per cent to 70,057 units in July, compared to 54,863 units in June 2025, according to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA). It said In a statement that the higher TIV was attributed to a full working month of 23 working days, compared to June 2025 (19 working days), and low production base in June 2025 due to the Hari Raya Aidiladha shutdown. However, MAA reported that the year-to-date (YTD) TIV was 5.0 per cent lower than the same corresponding period in 2024. "On a year-on-year basis, the TIV for July 2025 was 5.0 per cent lower than the 73,501 units recorded a year earlier, with 64,438 passenger vehicles and 5,619 commercial vehicles sold. "For production, a total of 71,439 units were produced in July 2025, up by 1.0 per cent from a year earlier comprising 67,075 passenger vehicles and 4,364 commercial vehicles," it said. On the industry's outlook, MAA expected the sales momentum in July 2025 to continue in August 2025. It said the performance in August would be driven by higher stock availability supported by July's high production volume of 71,439 units, aggressive promotion in conjunction with the Merdeka month celebration, and sales impact from new model launches. - Bernama

Proposed Extension Of ECRL To Rantau Panjang Will Be Brought To Cabinet

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- The proposed extension of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project to Rantau Panjang, Kelantan, will be brought to the Cabinet soon, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook. He explained that while the project is currently under construction and the alignment to Rantau Panjang is part of the overall package, further discussions with China and the main contractor, China Communications Construction Co Ltd (CCCC), are required. 'The proposal to extend the ECRL to Rantau Panjang is still being discussed because the project is ongoing, and the continuation (to Rantau Panjang) is part of the ECRL package that must be negotiated with China. 'This matter has not yet been tabled to the Cabinet, but I will bring it forward,' he said during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today. He was responding to a supplementary question from Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PN-Pasir Mas), who asked about the government's commitment to extend the ECRL to Rantau Panjang and whether a study on the project's potential flood risks had been conducted. Loke said technical studies, including those assessing flood risks, have not yet been carried out as a feasibility study for the ECRL project in Rantau Panjang must be done first. He said the ECRL project was costly because most of the track alignments on the East Coast were built on elevated structures using high viaducts to minimise flood risks. 'For the station area in Rantau Panjang, if the ECRL is to be connected to Thailand, the ministry has identified a technical problem, namely the difference in track types used by the ECRL and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT). 'At Rantau Panjang, the track systems for the ECRL and SRT are not compatible. A yard area will be required because, to enable integration with Thailand, the SRT must be able to enter Rantau Panjang and be positioned adjacent to the ECRL track to allow cargo transfer operations,' he explained.
