What We Know About Channel 4's Taylor Swift 2-Part ‘Taylor' Docuseries
Unlike her wildly successful Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film, Deadline reports that the Guy King-directed project will draw footage from a 'rare archive' and feature commentary from experts and Swifties alike.
'Taylor Swift is an unprecedentedly powerful 21st-century voice for women and young people,' the director wrote in a statement published by Deadline. 'Under the microscope of social media since the earliest days of MySpace and Tumblr, she came of age during a new feminist wave. With her fame came controversy, which she so skillfully wrestled to the floor. We're excited to tell her story.'
The series will be produced by Sandpaper Films, which also released Doom Scroll: Andrew Tate and the Dark Side of the Internet, A Deadly American Marriage, and Investigating Diana. Just last year, Channel 4 released another Tay-inspired documentary, The Rise and Rise of Taylor Swift: Untold, which showed how her 'incredibly loyal fanbase helped carry her to the top.'
While there's no release date tied to the new project just yet, it comes hot on the heels of Taylor acquiring the masters of her first six albums, which were purchased by Scooter Braun in 2019 and later sold to Shamrock Holdings in 2020. After re-recording four of her first six albums and embarking on the Eras Tour, the 14-time Grammy winner shared that she now owns her entire musical catalog in an emotional letter she penned to her fans on May 30.
'I really get to say these words: All of the music I've ever made… now belongs to me,' she wrote, in part, adding that she also owns all her music videos, concert films, album art and photography, and unreleased songs.
She continued, 'To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty casual about it. To my fans, you know how important this has been to me—so much so that I meticulously re-recorded and released four albums, calling them Taylor's Versions. The passionate support you showed those albums and the success you found giving The Eras Tour into why I was able to buy back my music. I can't thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but never owned until now. All I've ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright.'
All that to say... we can't wait to see the story of Taylor unfold in the new docuseries.

Taylor Swift releases new 'The Life of a Showgirl' album cover after teasing fans with cryptic purple countdown on her website
The new album is set for release on Oct. 3. What was Taylor Swift counting down to on her website today? It appears to be...a vinyl drop. She announced the first and only pressing of the "Shiny Bug" collection, which features a "wintergreen & onyx marbled" vinyl as well as a "violet shimmer marbled vinyl" option. Each features the same new photo of Swift in a black bejeweled leotard, black sparkly gloves and fishnets. The new vinyls are only available until Aug. 20, or until supplies last. This article was originally published at 12:43 p.m. on Aug. 18. Oh, Taylor Swift, what are you up to now?! The pop star is teasing fans yet again with a countdown on her website — but instead of the orange-and-green color scheme she's currently using to promote her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift's latest countdown is purple. The countdown appeared on Aug. 18 and is slated to end at 2 p.m. ET the same day. The website features a ticking clock with a glittery purple background, and the whole rest of the website is currently shut down — meaning there's no way to purchase merch right now. Swift's website isn't the only place purple is being used to promote whatever this upcoming announcement is. If you type 'Taylor Swift' into Google, purple confetti rains down on the screen. A red fiery heart emoji also appears, with a purple text block that reads 'And, baby, that's show business for you.' This is the same thing that happened with Google ahead of Swift's Life of a Showgirl album announcement; however, now the orange is swapped out for purple. And, if you go on Swift's Apple Music page, the image also features glittery purple. Obviously, fans online are freaking out about what all this purple could mean. Some are certain that it's a merch drop for The Life of a Showgirl, since merch sales are currently disabled. Some are hopeful that this purple moment could signal the release of Swift's first single off the album. Others, however, have bigger aspirations: Some believe that this countdown could end with the reveal that The Life of a Showgirl is actually a double album, with the second album featuring a purple color scheme. As TikToker Britton Rae said in a video about the countdown, Swift's latest antics are making her feel 'a little delulu,' aka 'delusional,' and convinced that another album is coming — especially given the fact that Swift officially announced Showgirl at exactly 12:12 a.m. on Aug. 12. 'She was very adamant that this album only had 12 tracks on it,' the TikToker said, pointing to Swift's New Heights podcast interview with boyfriend Travis Kelce. 'What if there's another album that also has 12 tracks on it, and that's why we've done the 12:12?' Others, however, are convinced this countdown could lead to an Eras tour documentary. One TikToker pointed out in a video that this purple glitter 'could maybe lead to the behind-the-scenes of the Eras tour, since The Life of a Showgirl is 'behind the curtain.'' The TikToker also noted that Swift recorded unseen footage from her final three shows of the Eras tour in Vancouver, British Columbia. Whatever happens, Swift certainly has plenty of surprises in store for fans. Stay tuned! Solve the daily Crossword

Taylor Swift drops another vinyl with fifth cover photo for 'Life of a Showgirl'
Another week. Another countdown. Another vinyl. A purple, glittery four hour timer on Taylor Swift's website sent her fandom buzzing with excitement on Aug 18. At 2 p.m. ET, Swift's website added an additional "The Shiny Bug Edition" variant to her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl." The artwork shows the Eras Tour mastermind in a red and black bedazzled corset with matching long-sleeved gloves and fishnets. The vinyl costs $29.99 and includes a "unique shiny bug edition" poem written by Swift along with a photo strip of four unique photos. The collectible album sleeve also has never-before-seen photos and album lyrics. On Aug. 13, the pop star announced her much anticipated 12th era on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's "New Heights" podcast. When the episode dropped, Swift's official website became plastered with the cover of "The Life of a Showgirl." Her collaboration with Swedish producers Max Martin and Shellback includes 12 tracks, a duet with Sabrina Carpenter and a release date of Oct. 3. Taylor Swift 'New Heights' updates: Eras Tour inspired new album, no extra tracks, more 'The Life of a Showgirl' "I am so grateful for the ability to create," Swift said on the "New Heights podcast," acknowledging she's never taken advantage of her meteoric success. "With the altitude I was reaching, there was more pressure every step of life. I was getting more creative control and freedom at times, and that is why it felt so much more special to keep working harder." She penned, sang and produced "Showgirl" during the European leg of the Eras Tour, jetting in and out of Sweden to work on the project. The artwork on the main version of the album represents the end of her nights on tour and has a possible tie to Ophelia from "Hamlet." FTC sues ticket reseller for evading Taylor Swift's Eras tour ticket limits
The US Federal Trade Commission sued ticket reseller Key Investment Group for evading purchasing limits to buy up thousands of tickets to live events including Taylor Swift's Eras tour and resell them at a markup, according to a complaint filed in Maryland federal court on Monday. The Baltimore, Maryland-based company, which operates ticket resale sites including used thousands of Ticketmaster accounts, including fake or purchased accounts, the FTC said. Ticketmaster faced intense criticism after its botched 2022 sale of tickets to Swift's much-hyped New Eras Tour, when billions of requests from Swift fans, bots and ticket resellers overwhelmed its website and the company canceled a planned ticket sale to the general public. For one Swift concert, Key Investment Group used 49 different accounts to purchase 273 tickets and evade a 6-ticket purchase limit, the FTC said on Monday. FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson said in a statement that the lawsuit puts ticket sellers on notice that the agency will go after those who circumvent ticketing platforms' limits on ticket sales. The lawsuit is part of a crackdown President Donald Trump announced in March focused on curbing exploitative ticket reselling practices that raise costs for fans. Key Investment Group sued the FTC in July to block its investigation, saying that its ticket purchases did not use automated software, or bots, and did not violate the Better Online Ticket Sales (BOTS) Act. The FTC has made it clear that 'they intend to use the BOTS Act to shut down the entire secondary-ticket market,' the company said in its lawsuit. The agency on Monday accused Key Investment Group and three of its executives of violating the BOTS Act as well as the FTC Act, which prohibits unfair and deceptive business practices. Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation Entertainment (LYV), are facing a lawsuit brought by U.S. antitrust enforcers accusing the company of monopolizing markets across the live concert industry.
