Hulu Continues as Lollapalooza's Streaming Home
Kicking off Thursday, July 31, Hulu will once again serve as the exclusive streaming partner for Lollapalooza. The streaming platform will film live performances from the festival's eight stages for all to enjoy. Coverage begins at 2:00 PM PST on the first day, and then throughout the rest of the weekend, it will start at 12:00 PM PST. For those who don't subscribe to Hulu, free trials are available, and there are also packages that combine with Disney+.

The tranche of pictures and letters from well-known artists and politicians offers a glimpse into the New York financier's life and relationships in the years leading up to his arrest for sex trafficking in 2019. They include messages for his 63rd birthday in 2016 from director Woody Allen, former prime minister of Israel Ehud Barak, real estate billionaire Mortimer Zuckerman, along with linguist and political activist Noam Chomsky. 'Being neighbors, my wife Soon-Yi and I have been invited for dinner many times. Always accept, always interesting. Wide variety of interesting people at every dinner just about Politicians, scientists, teachers, magicians, comedians, intellectuals, journalists…' Allen's letter reportedly says. He then likens the dinners to those at the castle to the 1931 movie adaptation of Dracula Dracula, where 'where Lugosi has three young female vampires who service the place.' The Times did not publish a scan of this letter as it did with Allen's, but reports that it concludes with a refrain that Epstein's friends may "enjoy your table for many more years to come.' TIME attempted to reach Barak, Chomsky, Zuckerman, and Allen for comment. The New York Times also published photographs from inside Epstein's mansion showing him with powerful global and financial figures Pope John Paul II, Mick Jagger, Elon Musk, Bill Clinton and Fidel Castro. They photograph a framed dollar bill signed by billionaire Bill Gates, with the caption 'I was wrong!' written on it. Also framed is the now-infamous photo of Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Epstein and Maxwell, taken in 2000, but with Maxwell not in frame. Epstein's relationship with the rich and powerful has been the subject of intense speculation in the years since his arrest and death by suicide in 2019. The Wall Street Journal reported last month that Trump had sent his own letter to Epstein in a book for his 50th birthday in 2003—long before his crimes became public knowledge. Trump has denied writing the letter and accompanying 'bawdy' drawing that the Journal reports is in the book, and the President sued the newspaper's parent firms Dow Jones and News Corp, its owner Rupert Murdoch, and two reporters over the report. The President has sought to play down his connection to Epstein over the years. He has said consistently that he broke off his friendship long before any allegations of his crimes came to light. He recently gave more details about the split when he said he fell out with the financier after Epstein 'stole' Virginia Giuffre, who later became a victim of Epstein, from the President's spa at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, where she worked as a 16-year-old in 2000. The Trump Administration has faced criticism for its refusal to release the so-called 'Epstein files,' after many within Trump's inner circle claimed for years that their contents would expose serious crimes by powerful people. The case has consumed both Republicans and Democrats as both parties search for answers. On Tuesday, the House Oversight Committee, led by Republicans, subpoenaed the Justice Department on files related to Epstein, calling for the DOJ to turn over all investigative materials related to his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell's sex trafficking operation. Just last week, Maxwell was quietly moved to a minimum-security prison in Texas, soon after she met with the DOJ's Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, prompting anger from Democrats. A man inside Chicago's Bean? Viral hoax floods politician with calls.
"I appreciate lighthearted parody as much as the next guy," Chicago Alderman Brendan Riley said in a statement. "However, this online hoax has led to a heavy uptick in calls to my office." Have you heard about the man inside The Bean? A small group of protestors have gone viral over the past week for claiming there is a man living inside of Chicago's Cloud Gate sculpture in Millennium Park, commonly known as "The Bean." Sporting all-black outfits and wielding homemade cardboard signs, the group has been handing out flyers and encouraging the public to contact Chicago Alderman Brendan Riley to "free" the man inside the sculpture. The protests began during Lollapalooza, which ran July 31 through Aug. 3. "There is a man inside The Bean," one of the protesters said in a video that has garnered thousands of views on social media. "We're calling for his immediate release. In 2004, Anish Kapoor, the chief architect of The Bean, stole a baby and put that baby inside The Bean. We are calling for the immediate release of the man trapped inside The Bean, so please, spread the good word." In a statement provided to USA TODAY, Riley said the "online hoax" has led to an influx of calls, proving to be a "distraction for my office from the real work we do for the 42nd Ward and City of Chicago each day." An Instagram account dedicated to the viral protest, Man in Bean, had garnered more than 23,600 followers as of Tuesday, Aug. 5. The Man in Bean team did not immediately respond for comment on the protests when contacted by USA TODAY via Instagram on Aug. 5. Designed by Kapoor, Cloud Gate was constructed between 2004 and 2006. The sculpture was made using computer technology to cut 168 stainless steel plates, which were then pieced together, like a puzzle, on-site, according to the Millennium Park Foundation. The massive sculpture is 33 feet high and weighs about 110 tons. What are Chicago officials saying? While Riley said the lighthearted protest has resulted in a strain on his office, he also provided a tongue-in-cheek response. "I am happy to confirm that a man has not been trapped inside Cloud Gate (a.k.a 'the Bean') for the past 21 years," he said. "In fact, the man was freed years ago. Further, we can neither confirm nor deny that Soldier Field is actually a flying saucer secretly relocated from Area 51 back in 2003." Is there really a man inside The Bean? You Can Stay at the House From ‘Poltergeist', and Even Have Someone Haunt You
It's been about a year since the house from 1982's Poltergeist went on the market for the first time, exciting horror fans who scrolled through property photos, dreamed of stacking chairs in the retro-preserved kitchen, and wondered if anything suspicious was unearthed while building that backyard pool. That was fun, but this is even better: in the grand tradition of movie-themed stays past, the Freeling home is now available for booking on Airbnb, complete with a massive old TV set broadcasting static (if you dare) and clown doll (if you know, you know). The Poltergeist House—located in Simi Valley, not the fictional, ill-planned suburb of 'Cuesta Verde'—has a dedicated website, full of glorious photos that reaffirm just how much of the 43-year-old movie's essence still lives on within its walls. It sleeps up to eight guests (there are four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms), so if you can get a group together, that would make the $800 starting price per night a little more manageable. It also has amenities galore, including a pool (skeleton-free, from the looks of it) and hot tub. The best amenity of all, however, is very specific to the Poltergeist House. According to the Airbnb page, your stay can include 'custom curated experiences with static-lit portraits, tours, movie screenings, or a night that feels… watched.' Why not conduct a paranormal investigation while you're at it? (It's been done: the house played host to an episode of Ghost Adventures that aired earlier this year on the Discovery Channel, and of course you saw what happened in the movie itself.) Even if you can't swing a trip to Los Angeles to indulge your TV people fantasies, you can still mutter 'They're heeeere!' and 'You're jammin' my frequency' to yourself while appreciating the images.
