Urvashi slams National Award jury for labelling her ‘supporting actress' despite lead role
Veteran actor Urvashi, who won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 71st National Film Awards for her role in the acclaimed Malayalam drama 'Ullozhukku', has publicly challenged the jury's decision. She asked pointed questions about the criteria used, saying, 'This is not pension money to silently accept.' Urvashi argued that her role was clearly a leading one—she and Parvathy Thiruvothu were both in contention for Best Actress. She has urged greater transparency, calling on Minister Suresh Gopi to examine the awards process and ensure fairness for Malayalam cinema.
