Man charged in violent Erin Woods break-and-enter: Calgary police

It's alleged the accused broke into a home in the 0-100 block of Erin Woods Boulevard S.E. at 1:30 p.m. on July 30, assaulting a female resident. It's alleged a second resident intervened, prompting a physical altercation between him and the accused. Police said at the time that both victims suffered minor injuries. On Thursday, police announced a 30-year-old man had been charged with break-and-enter with intent to commit assault. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 29. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

Investigation underway into Thursday afternoon fire in northwest
An investigation is underway after a structure fire that took place Thursday afternoon in northwest Calgary. At around 12:20 p.m, fire crews responded to reports of a fire in the 200 block of Ninth Avenue N.W., where they discovered heavy smoke at the back door of a house. Crews were able to determine that the fire started in the basement, before burning part of the main floor. The fire was quickly extinguished and everyone inside was able to escape safely, with no injuries reported. No neighouring homes have been impacted. Crews remain on scene

Leduc home shot at twice in 2 days: RCMP
RCMP say this vehicle, an older tan or gold Chevrolet Z71, was involved in two shootings in Leduc earlier this week. (Supplied) A Leduc home was shot at twice in two days earlier this week. Gunshots were fired at a house on Bluff Lane at around 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Mounties said on Thursday. There were bullet holes in the home and another home was struck indirectly from the bullets, RCMP said. While investigating, officers learned the same home was potentially shot at on Monday at around 6:20 a.m. Suspect vehicle RCMP say this vehicle, an older tan or gold Chevrolet Z71, was involved in two shootings in Leduc earlier this week. (Supplied) Mounties believe both shootings were targeted. The same vehicle, an older tan or gold Chevrolet Z71, was involved in both shootings. There were at least three people in the vehicle, RCMP said, with the shooter wearing a mask. Anyone with information about the vehicle or people involved is asked to call RCMP at 780-980-7267 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
