UAE announces Hijri New Year holiday for private sector
The UAE has announced a private sector holiday to mark the Hijri New Year.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced that Friday, June 27 will be an official paid holiday for private sector com p anies in the UAE on the occasion of the new Hijri year 1447 AH.
It means a 3-day weekend for many, with an extended break from June 27 to 29.
UAE private sector holiday
It follows an earlier announcement by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) to designate the same day as a holiday for public sector workers.
The FAHR issued a circular to all ministries and federal entities, stating that the Hijri New Year holiday for the year 1447 AH will fall on Friday, June 27, 2025.

The consumer goods and services sector also posted a +60% outlook, outperforming the global sector average by 27 to the report, this outlook reflects growing retail, FMCG, and tourism-related demand post-pandemic and ahead of seasonal demand the energy and utilities sector stands at +62%, outpacing the global average by 43 points, as a result of the UAE's ongoing diversification in energy investments and sustainable Q3 2025 survey ties the strong hiring activity to several strategic factors. Company expansion is the leading catalyst, cited by 38% of 32% pointed to technological advancements prompting businesses to hire talent with specialised skills, while 31% said hiring is linked to the development of new business roles aligned with emerging industries and innovation efforts. The survey also revealed trends related to workforce restructuring in the UAE. RTA slashes Dubai vehicle licensing services by 74%
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reduced Dubai vehicle licensing services by 74 per cent in major digital transformation push. As part of an ongoing push toward delivering smarter and more efficient government services, the RTA reduced the number of vehicle licensing services from 54 to just 14, The 74 per cent reduction is aimed at streamlining operations, enhancing customer satisfaction, and accelerating the emirate's smart transformation goals. Dubai vehicle licences The move is part of the '360 Comprehensive Services' plan, an initiative designed to reengineer public services by integrating advanced digital technologies, simplifying processes, and aligning with the Dubai Government's vision to become the world's most digitally advanced city.
