McGregor trains on beach in front of holidaymakers as he steps up UFC comeback

Conor McGregor was seen giving a dazzling display of his boxing skills on an Ibiza beach, as an adoring crowd watched on.
The 36-year-old has been out of action since his defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021 - a bout that resulted in a lengthy hiatus for the Notorious one due to a broken leg sustained in the opening round. But it seems McGregor is gearing up for a spectacular comeback to the fight scene, as he was caught on camera demonstrating his quick hands and formidable power under the shining sun.
A throng of onlookers gathered to witness the Dubliner unleash a flurry of punches, culminating in a wave of cheers and applause as he concluded his session. McGregor also shared video clips showing his fiancée, Dee Devlin, and their children in attendance at the impromptu showcase.
In other clips, McGregor is seen wrapping his hands beneath a parasol, sporting wraps with a dollar bill motif, while saying: "Money in the till, baby. Money in the till," with a chuckle.
McGregor was originally slated for a UFC comeback last June against Michael Chandler following their intense stint as rival coaches on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. However, he withdrew from the bout in its build-up due to a broken toe, reports Dublin Live.
While McGregor seems to be chomping at the bit to make his return to the Octagon, UFC president Dana White and his team of matchmakers haven't yet pinned down a date or opponent for his comeback. Still, Chandler harbours hope that he'll be the one to roll out the welcome mat for the ex-featherweight and lightweight champ's return to the fray.
Speaking to the Mirror back in November, the 39-year-old said: "I still believe Conor comes back at some point, and when he does, that road goes through Nashville, Tennessee, and Michael Chandler. We have to finish TUF 31, we have to get a fight poster that actually comes to fruition for a fight, we have to get a contract that actually comes to fruition for a fight but either way if the fight with Conor never happens, I am completely content - I wish him well.
"But I have a sneaky suspicion Conor does not want to sail off into the sunset the way he has right now. He wants to come back and needs to come back for Conor McGregor 's legacy."
It comes just weeks after McGregor was seen mingling with a host of celebs at Wayne Lineker's renowned Ocean Beach Club, where he was snapped alongside stars such as model Katie Price and Tottenham Hotspur ace Kevin Danso. The MMA superstar was topless, donning red Versace shorts and puffing on a cigar as he made his grand entrance into the open-air club, playing up to the crowd.
The snap that garnered attention from his 46.5 million followers featured him with a beaming Katie Price, alongside the caption: "@katieprice forever," - a photo which was re-shared by Price as she added: "You legend," clearly showing her admiration for the Irishman. McGregor, who of late seems to be throwing his weight behind promoting Bare Knuckle FC, has also stayed tuned into the UFC.
Following Ilia Topuria's stunning first-round knockout victory over Charles Oliveira at the weekend, where he cinched the lightweight title previously held by McGregor, he took to X to write: "Congrats on winning my old titles, illia!".
In the now-deleted post, he added: "He said he gonna rest his b**** on paddy['s] head too hahah fair play. Good LW scrap that one is as well imo. UFC is back? Or still missing something..? 3 ko's back to back is very good. No one can deny the knockout. I like."

Ex-golfer's gives his side of the story on Padraig Harrington row

Ex-golfer Roger Maltbie has given his side of the story on his row with Padraig Harrington which went viral during last week's US Senior Open. Harrington and Maltbie - who works as an on-course reporter for NBC in America - clashed during the Irishman's second round with video footage of the pair exchanging words on the course receiving countless shares on social media. In the video, Harrington can be heard telling Maltbie 'you've played golf all your life, you understand,' while Maltbie says 'I'm not a player.' Maltbie has since broken his silence on the row and has explained that the disagreement stemmed from Harrington's unhappiness that Maltbie wasn't helping to find his ball after he skewed a ball into the rough. 'I can't do it from inside the thick of the trees,' Maltbie told 'So I stayed outside, and then [Harrington] walked near me and he said, 'You could help search for the ball,' and I just didn't respond. The odds of finding it were slim.' 'Every time I tried to explain to him [my position], he said, 'It's poor etiquette. It's golf etiquette to help somebody in search for a ball, and that I should know better after the years of playing,' Maltbie said. 'I tried to say, 'Listen, I have a boss. I'm not a player,' and if I were a spectator or certainly playing with him, I would have helped him search for his ball. But I was under instructions. It just wouldn't work. But he wanted no part of it. 'I was very close to saying, 'All these years, all these checks I've gotten from NBC, your name isn't on any of them. I mean, his caddie works for him, so I'm sure his caddie does what Padraig tells him to do. Well, I have an employer, and if they tell me basically what I'm going to do or what they want from me, I have to honor that. But he just doesn't see it that way.' Harrington certainly didn't allow the misunderstanding to upset him too much as the Dubliner produced some sparkling golf over the weekend to take home the title by one stroke and receive a cheque fo $800,000.

Irish father's pride with son set to make Wimbledon debut

An Irishman has spoken of his pride as his son prepares to make his debut at Wimbledon. The 2025 iteration of the famous grass-court Grand-Slam kicked off on Monday, and while all eyes will be on the likes of Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz over the next fortnight, for Irish fans, Tuesday could well belong to James Fernandez-McCabe. Fernandez-McCabe, a 21-year-old who represents Australia, will make his Wimbledon debut tomorrow when he takes on World number 58 Fabian Marozsan of Hungary. Ranked 123 places lower, James will have his work cut out for him as he looks to progress to the second-round at the All-England club. Speaking on RTE Radio's Oliver Callan show, Fernandez-McCabe admitted that the whole experience was a bit 'overwhelming', but that the thought of stepping out onto the famous courts gave him 'goosebumps.' James' father, Patrick, is originally from Walkinstown in Dublin. He moved to Australia in 1997 when he was just a year older than James is now, where he married Irene - James' mother. Taking up the sport as a youngster, James' father didn't have the money for top of the range, professional tennis lessons, so YouTube became the starlet's main instructor. James also excelled at other sports but went all in on tennis and is now preparing for the biggest match of his life. "That is my childhood. Maybe it wasn't normal at the time," he said. "It builds character and without it I wouldn't be where I am now. So I'm just grateful. I'm lucky." Speaking about James' early days in the sport, Patrick said "I got carried away early days. I was probably a bit hard on him ... but you do what you have to do."
