Israeli settlers torch Palestinian homes in latest West Bank attack

DaysofPal- A group of Israeli settlers launched a violent assault on the Palestinian town of Bruqin, west of Salfit in the northern occupied West Bank, on Thursday evening, setting fire to several homes and causing widespread destruction.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, settlers stormed the outskirts of the town and deliberately ignited fires in multiple Palestinian homes. The resulting blazes caused extensive material damage and ignited panic among residents. Video footage circulating online shows flames engulfing residential areas as thick smoke rose over the town.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that its emergency teams treated eight people suffering from burn injuries caused by the fires. All victims were treated on-site, as access to local medical services continues to be impeded by ongoing Israeli military activity in the area.
Just hours after settlers carried out the arson attacks, Israeli occupation forces re-entered Bruqin in a renewed raid. Heavily armed troops closed internal roads, stormed homes, and conducted widespread searches.
The incursion marked the second in less than 24 hours, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area earlier that day.
Israeli forces had just concluded a nine-day military campaign in Bruqin and the neighboring town of Kafr ad-Dik. That operation, which Israeli authorities claimed was aimed at locating a suspect in a shooting that killed one settler and wounded another, involved sweeping arrests, home invasions, and the conversion of civilian houses into temporary military outposts. One Palestinian, Nael Sami Abdul Rahman Samara, 36, was killed by Israeli gunfire during the incursion last Saturday.
Residents reported significant damage to homes and infrastructure, as well as the disruption of essential services like water and electricity, deepening the humanitarian crisis in the area.
Late Thursday night, Israeli forces also raided the family home of Nael Samara, taking measurements of the property, a procedure typically used by Israeli authorities to prepare for punitive home demolitions. Samara's killing is seen by many Palestinians as part of a wider pattern of targeted assassinations and collective punishment.
The attack in Bruqin is part of a broader and intensifying campaign of settler violence aimed at displacing Palestinians from their lands. According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, Israeli settlers committed 341 attacks against Palestinians and attempted to establish 10 new settlement outposts in April alone.
Official Palestinian data shows that by the end of 2024, approximately 770,000 settlers were living in 180 settlements and 256 outposts across the West Bank. Of these, 138 are categorized as agricultural or pastoral and are often used as launching points for settler aggression.
The situation in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has sharply deteriorated amid a surge in Israeli military and settler operations. According to the latest figures from Palestinian authorities, at least 969 Palestinians have been killed, around 7,000 injured, and over 17,000 arrested since the escalation began.

Euro-Med: Israel Destroys 400 Homes in Gaza City's Al-Zeitoun Neighborhood

DayofPal– The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor reported on Saturday that Israeli forces have destroyed approximately 400 homes in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of eastern Gaza City over the past six days, utilizing explosive-laden robots and airstrikes as part of a wide-scale military offensive. According to the Geneva-based organization, Israeli forces have been systematically leveling the densely populated neighborhood since August 11, in what it described as a deliberate campaign to forcibly displace civilians and assert full Israeli control over Gaza City. The rights group stated that the offensive is part of a declared Israeli plan to reoccupy Gaza gradually, beginning with Gaza City. The plan, it says, involves forcibly relocating more than a million people, including original residents and internally displaced persons from northern Gaza, into smaller, isolated areas in the south of the besieged enclave. Drones, particularly quadcopters, have reportedly been used to trap residents in housing blocks and coerce them to evacuate at gunpoint. The Israeli army is said to have advanced under heavy fire cover and positioned themselves in strategic locations behind Street 8, near the Doula intersection and the areas of Al-Bar'asi and Al-Aliyeen. More than 90,000 civilians have fled the neighborhood due to the intense bombardment, Euro-Med said, warning that nearly half of Al-Zeitoun's homes have been demolished without any clear military necessity. The report emphasized that no recent armed clashes were recorded in the area, and many homes were systematically destroyed using remote detonation after being vacated, signaling what the monitor described as a campaign to 'eradicate Palestinian life and infrastructure.' The monitor called the destruction part of a broader Israeli strategy aimed at 'completing the crime of genocide' and erasing Palestinian cities through the annihilation of residential areas and basic infrastructure. 'The attack on Al Zeitoun represents an unprecedented escalation in Israel's war on Gaza,' the report said. 'It is a calculated step in a publicly declared strategy, not a spontaneous military development, and it carries the clear intent of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement.' Euro-Med urged the international community—including the United Nations and global legal institutions, to intervene urgently to stop the atrocities, protect civilians, and hold Israeli leaders accountable. The organization warned that the continuation of Israel's campaign to secure full military control over Gaza City could result in 'unprecedented massacres' and completely collapse the already devastated humanitarian response in the Strip. The report also called for the immediate enforcement of International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants issued against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, stressing the importance of upholding the principle that no one is above accountability for international crimes. The escalation follows a decision by Israel's security cabinet on August 8 to approve Netanyahu's plan for the gradual reoccupation of Gaza, starting with Gaza City. The subsequent assault on Al-Zeitoun included aerial bombings, artillery fire, sniper attacks, and forced evacuations, confirmed by multiple eyewitnesses and journalists. Since October 7, 2023, Israel's military campaign in Gaza has resulted in a genocide. According to the latest figures from Gaza's Health Ministry, the death toll has reached 61,827 Palestinians, with over 155,275 injured, more than 9,000 missing, and hundreds of thousands displaced. At least 251 people, including 108 children, have died due to famine. Despite repeated international appeals and rulings from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Israel continues its operations with steadfast backing from the United States and several Western allies. Euro-Med concluded its statement by calling on all states to take urgent and concrete steps to halt the genocide, protect civilians, and ensure Israel complies with international law. IOF Displaces Palestinians South Gaza as Death Toll Mounts

DaysofPal- The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have announced preparations to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza City to the southern part of the enclave, beginning Sunday, just days after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared a new offensive against the besieged people in Gaza City and al-Mawasi. Despite the Israeli claims of providing what is necessary to the starving people via the United Nations, the UN, however, has not confirmed its participation in the plan or its role in providing aid, noting that the Israeli forces want the UN to participate in the displacement plan of over 1 Million Palestinians, which is completely rejected. Humanitarian officials warned earlier in the week that thousands of families already living in appalling conditions could be 'pushed over the edge' if the displacement goes ahead. It remains unclear whether the tents are meant for Gaza City's one million residents or if displaced families would be directed to Rafah, near the Egyptian border. The Palestinian group Islamic Jihad condemned the move, describing it as 'part of Israel's brutal assault to occupy Gaza City' and 'a blatant mockery of international law.' The group added, 'Forcing people to flee amidst starvation, massacres, and displacement is an ongoing crime against humanity … inseparable from the daily crimes in the occupied West Bank.' Over the past week, Israeli forces have escalated operations on the outskirts of Gaza City, where residents in Zeitoun and Shujayea reported heavy aerial and tank fire. On Saturday, an Israeli drone strike in the Asqaula area of Zeitoun killed two people and injured several others, whereas another strike near al-Alami Mosque on az-Zarqa Street left one dead and three wounded. Even areas previously labeled as 'safe zones' are no longer spared while in al-Mawasi, an area the Israeli occupation had declared a humanitarian corridor, an air raid killed Motasem al-Batta, his wife, and their baby daughter inside their tent. 'Two and a half months, what has she done?' a neighbor asked, mourning the infant's death. Gaza's Health Ministry reported that since the Israeli genocide in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, at least 61,827 Palestinians have been killed and 155,275 wounded. Malnutrition has also claimed 251 lives, including 11 people, among them a child, who died in the past 24 hours alone. At al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza's largest medical facility, more than 200 patients are in critical condition due to shortages of medicine, food, and clean water, as doctors say they are being forced to amputate limbs without proper treatment as infection spreads among the wounded. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, the hospital's director, described overcrowded wards filled with malnourished patients. According to the World Health Organization, at least 14,800 patients in Gaza need lifesaving care that is unavailable inside the enclave. Health officials estimate that 40,000 infants in Gaza are suffering from severe malnutrition, with aid groups warning that only 10 percent of the territory's daily food needs are being met. 'The health system is collapsing day by day, and our capacity is very limited,' said Amjad Shawa, director of the Palestinian NGOs Network. He added, 'The food that enters is barely enough to keep people alive at a minimum level.' Shortlink for this post:

Seven Palestinians Shot Dead by Israel at Aid Distribution in Gaza

DaysofPal – Israeli occupation forces continued their campaign of bombardment, demolitions, and forced displacement in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, killing at least 20 Palestinians, including seven who were waiting for humanitarian aid. A medical source at the Baptist Hospital in Gaza City said seven Palestinians were killed and several more wounded after an Israeli drone attack struck the hospital's northern vicinity. In the south, Nasser Hospital reported that Israeli forces opened fire near the Morag axis, killing seven Palestinians and injuring dozens as they waited for aid. Four others were killed in Khan Yunis when an Israeli strike hit a tent sheltering displaced families near the Taiba Towers. Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital confirmed that a drone targeted a gathering in the al-Bassa area, west of Deir al-Balah, killing one Palestinian and injuring several others. In other news, a young man was shot dead close to the Netzarim axis in central Gaza. The same hospital also reported that 40-year-old Rami Saadi al-Helou was killed in an Israeli airstrike on his home in Nuseirat refugee camp. Israel's offensive across Gaza grew more intense at the same time as the violence. Eyewitnesses reported three bombing operations in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, as well as two more in the northwest of Khan Yunis. The Gaza Health Ministry said 11 Palestinians died from starvation and malnutrition in just one day, bringing the total number of such deaths to 251, including 108 children. This relentless wave of mass killings comes amid Israel's push to reassert control over the Strip. On August 8, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet approved a plan to reoccupy Gaza, starting with Gaza City gradually. As part of that plan, Israeli forces launched a major assault on the Zeitoun neighborhood on August 11, using booby-trapped robots, artillery, indiscriminate gunfire, and mass demolitions to drive residents from their homes.
