Israeli settlers torch Palestinian homes in latest West Bank attack

DaysofPal- A group of Israeli settlers launched a violent assault on the Palestinian town of Bruqin, west of Salfit in the northern occupied West Bank, on Thursday evening, setting fire to several homes and causing widespread destruction.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, settlers stormed the outskirts of the town and deliberately ignited fires in multiple Palestinian homes. The resulting blazes caused extensive material damage and ignited panic among residents. Video footage circulating online shows flames engulfing residential areas as thick smoke rose over the town.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that its emergency teams treated eight people suffering from burn injuries caused by the fires. All victims were treated on-site, as access to local medical services continues to be impeded by ongoing Israeli military activity in the area.
Just hours after settlers carried out the arson attacks, Israeli occupation forces re-entered Bruqin in a renewed raid. Heavily armed troops closed internal roads, stormed homes, and conducted widespread searches.
The incursion marked the second in less than 24 hours, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area earlier that day.
Israeli forces had just concluded a nine-day military campaign in Bruqin and the neighboring town of Kafr ad-Dik. That operation, which Israeli authorities claimed was aimed at locating a suspect in a shooting that killed one settler and wounded another, involved sweeping arrests, home invasions, and the conversion of civilian houses into temporary military outposts. One Palestinian, Nael Sami Abdul Rahman Samara, 36, was killed by Israeli gunfire during the incursion last Saturday.
Residents reported significant damage to homes and infrastructure, as well as the disruption of essential services like water and electricity, deepening the humanitarian crisis in the area.
Late Thursday night, Israeli forces also raided the family home of Nael Samara, taking measurements of the property, a procedure typically used by Israeli authorities to prepare for punitive home demolitions. Samara's killing is seen by many Palestinians as part of a wider pattern of targeted assassinations and collective punishment.
The attack in Bruqin is part of a broader and intensifying campaign of settler violence aimed at displacing Palestinians from their lands. According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, Israeli settlers committed 341 attacks against Palestinians and attempted to establish 10 new settlement outposts in April alone.
Official Palestinian data shows that by the end of 2024, approximately 770,000 settlers were living in 180 settlements and 256 outposts across the West Bank. Of these, 138 are categorized as agricultural or pastoral and are often used as launching points for settler aggression.
The situation in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has sharply deteriorated amid a surge in Israeli military and settler operations. According to the latest figures from Palestinian authorities, at least 969 Palestinians have been killed, around 7,000 injured, and over 17,000 arrested since the escalation began.

Aid Ship ‘Madleen' Nears Gaza Despite Israeli Threats

DaysofPal- The aid vessel Madleen has entered Egyptian waters and is making its way toward Gaza, defying Israeli warnings not to dock, the International Committee for Breaking the Siege on Gaza announced Sunday. According to a statement from the committee—one of the key organizers of the humanitarian flotilla—the ship passed through Alexandria in northern Egypt and is expected to 'in hours reach Mansoura city… en route to Gaza.' 'The coming hours will be most critical,' the statement read. Shortly after, the committee issued another update, alleging that Israeli forces were interfering with the ship's tracking and communication systems. 'It seems Israel is jamming our colleagues' location and signal on the Madleen (vessel).' 'This is serious… We'll keep you posted,' the statement added. Organizers also published a live-tracking link for the ship, encouraging supporters to share it widely online. 'Israel is preparing to commit a war crime in the middle of international waters,' the committee claimed. Yasemin Acar, one of the activists on board Madleen, confirmed the situation, stating,'The communication blackout has officially begun.' 'If you don't hear from us in the coming hours, it means we have been cut off from the world… Remember we are doing this for Gaza.' The warnings come as Israeli forces are reportedly preparing to intercept the Madleen, tow it to Ashdod port, and deport the activists on board, according to Israeli media outlets. Twelve activists are aboard the vessel, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and Irish actor Liam Cunningham. Rima Hassan, a French Member of the European Parliament who is also part of the mission, posted a live photo update from the ship on her X (formerly Twitter) account. Last week, Israel's state broadcaster KAN reported that Tel Aviv had rescinded earlier approval for the Madleen to pass, citing fears that allowing the mission to proceed could set a precedent for future humanitarian aid efforts. The Madleen is carrying urgently needed supplies for the besieged population of Gaza. According to its organizers, the cargo includes baby formula, flour, rice, diapers, women's sanitary products, water desalination kits, medical supplies, crutches, and prosthetic limbs for children. This latest mission follows an earlier incident in May, when *Conscience*, another aid vessel operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, was reportedly targeted by drones off the coast of Malta. Since October 2023, Israel has waged a relentless military campaign in Gaza, killing nearly 54,800 Palestinians—most of them women and children. Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the offensive continues. Aid agencies have warned that famine is looming for Gaza's more than two million residents. In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Meanwhile, Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice. Shortlink for this post:

Italian Defense Minister: No Justification for Gaza War, It Must End

DaysofPal- Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto declared on Thursday that the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip 'has lost its military justification' and emphasized that there is no reason for it to continue from this perspective. 'The war must end because innocent Palestinian civilians are the ones paying the price,' Crosetto said, adding that the declared goals of the war have not been achieved, which underscores the urgent need to halt the conflict immediately. Meanwhile, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva once again accused the 'far-right government' of the Israeli occupation of committing deliberate genocide in the Gaza Strip. Speaking during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, Lula stated, 'What is happening in Gaza is not a war—it is a genocide carried out by a heavily armed army against women and children. We are witnessing a genocide before our eyes, day after day, and it is no longer acceptable.' Lula has repeatedly referred to the situation in Gaza as a genocide in previous statements. These remarks come amid escalating Israeli crimes in Gaza, including forced displacement, targeting of civilians, and denial of access to humanitarian aid. Countries such as Spain, Ireland, the UK, Canada, and France have called for a comprehensive review of their partnership agreements with the Israeli occupation, asserting that the ongoing violations contradict the democratic principles on which these agreements are based. Several nations have issued sharply worded statements demanding that the Israeli occupation immediately cease its military operations, warning of concrete measures against the Israeli government if the escalation continues. The Israeli occupation forces continue to impose a severe blockade on the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, food, medicine, and water. This has pushed the war-torn enclave to the brink of famine, already claiming the lives of dozens of civilians. According to the latest figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza has resulted in 54,677 martyrs and 125,530 injuries of varying severity since October 7, 2023. Washington's Hypocrisy Exposed: Ex-State Department Spokesman Admits Israeli War Crimes in Gaza

DaysofPal – In a stunning admission that lays bare the contradictions of U.S. foreign policy, former State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller has confirmed that Israel committed war crimes in the Gaza Strip. His statement, made in a media interview following his departure from office, has ignited a firestorm of criticism, highlighting the moral bankruptcy and selective accountability of the U.S. government. Appearing on the 'Trump 100' podcast via Sky News, Miller stated: 'It is certain that Israel committed war crimes in Gaza,' clarifying that his previous public statements were aligned with official U.S. policy, not his personal convictions. While the admission may seem courageous on the surface, observers view it as a last-minute attempt at distancing himself from a legacy of complicity, delivered only after leaving a position of influence. Damage Control and Deflection Attempting to soften the blow, Miller claimed the crimes were committed by individual soldiers, not as a matter of state policy. This narrative, critics argue, is a deliberate evasion of responsibility and a thinly veiled attempt to shield the Israeli state from the label of systematic atrocity. Political analyst Dr. Hassan Mneimneh remarked: 'Miller is trying to cleanse his record. But by focusing blame on rogue individuals, he deliberately obscures the fact that Israel's actions in Gaza represent a state-sanctioned military campaign—not a series of isolated violations.' The Face of Denial Now Seeks Redemption Miller's tenure was marked by aggressive public defense of Israeli actions, often denying or downplaying credible reports from international bodies and media documenting war crimes, including the use of U.S.-supplied weapons on civilian targets. Now, his belated reversal is being met with public outrage. French activist Arnaud Bertrand wrote: 'Miller knew the truth but chose obedience. He can't undo months of lies with one sentence.' Oxford professor Alonso Gurmendi added: 'He was the spokesperson of genocide. Now that the tide is turning, he wants off the ship. It's too late.' Palestinian researcher Bashar Zaabi said: 'Every day Miller stood at that podium smiling while denying atrocities. Everyone knew. Biden knew. Miller knew. There must be accountability.' Journalist Rana Ayyub of The Washington Post commented: 'No redemption for Miller. He helped shape the narrative that justified genocide. He enabled the conditioning of public opinion to accept Palestinian death as collateral damage.' A Symbolic Confession, But Not Accountability While Miller's admission is symbolically significant, legal and political experts stress that it does not relieve either him or the Biden administration of complicity in what many are now calling a genocide. During his time in office, Miller repeatedly rejected documented evidence of Israeli violations—brushing aside concerns from the UN, human rights groups, and investigative journalists. His tenure coincided with some of the deadliest months for Palestinians in recent history, during which more than 54,000 people were killed or wounded in Gaza, the majority of them women and children. Despite overwhelming documentation, the U.S. continued arms transfers, vetoed UN resolutions calling for ceasefires, and shielded Israel from international accountability, making Miller not just a spokesperson but an active participant in a broader campaign of disinformation. Conclusion: Words Without Justice Miller's admission may seem like a moral reckoning, but without accountability, it is nothing more than a symbolic gesture. It highlights the urgent need for independent war crimes investigations, consequences for enablers of impunity, and an end to the culture of denial that has shielded war criminals for decades. Until then, Miller's confession will remain a footnote in a dark chapter of Western complicity. Shortlink for this post:
