Switzerland Calling? New Schengen Visa Rules Could Change How Indians Travel
'
VFS Global has mentioned clearly on its official website that the only documents listed in the official checklist will be accepted—no extras documents and no appeals. Some of the prime requirements include (according to VFS Global website):
1) Valid national passport:
Issued within the last 10 years and with at least 3 months validity after the scheduled return, with at least two blank pages. Handwritten passports and passports with observations regarding the front page (bio data) cannot be accepted.
2) Valid photograph:
White background, not older than 6 months (size 35 – 40 mm in width, not copied or scanned picture). Picture to be pasted on the application form, stapled or pinned pictures cannot be accepted.
3) Visa application form:
Completed and signed by the applicant, if applicable, authorization of third person.
If the applicant is a minor: visa application signed by legal guardian/s and if applicable, authorization of third person. (Proving the custody of a minor child, divorce papers, death certificate etc.).

4) Introduction letter:
Letter (original document), needs to be on a business letterhead from the employer/company.
Letter needs to be signed and stamped by HR or directorate, mentioning position and duration of service.
'No objection statement' regarding the planned trip to Switzerland/Schengen States.
Mentioning of travel dates and purpose of trip.
5) Travel insurance:
Please refer to the list of approved Indian travel insurances.
Minimum coverage of 30,000 Euro per person (Around INR 30,36,660).
Coverage of all expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment.
The insurance has to cover the entire stay within the Schengen territory. Applicants who wish to apply for a six months or a one year multiple visa are not obliged to provide a 180 (365) day coverage.
It is sufficient to submit an insurance policy covering the first journey.
6) Flight reservation:
With names of all travelers.
If applicable proof of intra-Schengen flights, train itinerary or car rental.
7) Proof of accommodation in Switzerland / Schengen states:
Confirmation of hotel reservations, package tours, advance payments.
Not only this, VFS has also said there's no need to submit lengthy bank statements as only the first three and the last three pages will be accepted.

Pune: Clogged toilets delayed Air India's Delhi-Pune flight by almost five hours on Tuesday afternoon, compelling over 150 passengers to spend almost two hours sitting in the aircraft before deboarding and getting into another plane after going through the formalities, including security check, all over again. The flight (AI-2982) was scheduled to take off from Delhi at 1.05pm and land in Pune at 3.20pm. The substitute plane finally flew at 5.40pm and landed in Pune around 8pm. An Air India spokesperson told TOI, "Flight AI2982, operating from Delhi to Pune, was delayed because of a maintenance task identified prior to departure. It required additional time for rectification. Our ground colleagues in Delhi airport extended support to the passengers to minimise the inconvenience caused because of this unforeseen delay. Arrangements were made to fly the passengers to their destination at the earliest. The airline's employees told passengers that since the flight had come from Doha, the catering items had to be brought out of the aircraft and fresh items had to be loaded. "We requested the cabin crew that since refreshments had been served because of the delay, they should skip the catering. But the request was turned down," Gupta said.

Jaisalmer: Four village heads from Rajasthan's border districts will be honoured as special guests during the Independence Day celebration at Red Fort Aug 15, marking their first participation under the Indian govt's Vibrant Village Programme 2.0. Land conversion hurdles stall RR MoUs grounding
Jaipur: The tourism department Wednesday held a meeting with the MoU holders of the Rising Rajasthan investment summit to address their difficulties and fast-track the grounding of projects. The department invited around 100 investors who already have land in their possession but were unable to implement the projects. Many investors at the event, whom TOI spoke with, said that land conversion has become a major hurdle even though they are eager to set up these projects and not lose business opportunities. "I have been waiting for the past seven months to get my land conversion approval despite having all the required documents," said an MoU holder from Bhilwara who is setting up a 350-room hotel with an investment of around Rs 80 crore. Similarly, a young entrepreneur who signed an MoU to set up an entertainment park in Bear is also facing land conversion issues. "We have land, but we cannot get it converted. The project has been stuck for over six months," the investor said.
