Free Uber rides available in Dayton on St. Patrick's Day

Yahoo14-03-2025
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The ArriveSafe program returns on Monday, giving Dayton residents a safe way to get home.
Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck, Jr. announced the return of the ArriveSafe program for the St. Patrick's Day holiday. The program offers free rideshare vouchers in an effort to reduce OVI-related crashes.
Sobriety checkpoints to disperse across the Valley
ArriveSafe offers a free Uber ride, up to $20. Those interested in the voucher can scan the QR code or go to the offer on the Uber website.
Vouchers can be redeemed from Monday, March 17 at 6 a.m. through Tuesday, March 18 at 6 a.m.
St. Patrick's Day is one of the biggest days on the calendar for alcohol consumption. In the past year, OVI-related crashes have claimed over 30 lives in Montgomery County.
Prosecutor Heck says since ArriveSafe began in 2007, the program has provided over 20,000 free rides home.
'All I'm asking is that you celebrate St. Patrick's Day responsibly and either have a sober designated driver, call a cab, use Lyft or let ArriveSafe provide you a safe and sober ride home — for free!' said Heck.

eHealth, Lyft, Coursera, Cars.com, and Skillz Shares Plummet, What You Need To Know

What Happened? A number of stocks fell in the afternoon session after investor apprehension intensified ahead of a key policy speech and perplexing inflation signals clouded the economic outlook, leading to a wider market retreat from growth-oriented stocks. The downturn in the market was largely attributed to a significant sell-off in megacap tech and chipmaker shares. Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Broadcom all saw notable drops, dragging down the VanEck Semiconductor ETF. Other major tech-related companies like Tesla, Meta Platforms, and Netflix were also under pressure. A key reason for this trend is that much of the recent market gains have been concentrated in the "AI trade," which includes these large technology and semiconductor companies. So this could also mean that some investors are locking in some gains ahead of more definitive feedback from the Fed. The stock market overreacts to news, and big price drops can present good opportunities to buy high-quality stocks. Among others, the following stocks were impacted: Online Marketplace company eHealth (NASDAQ:EHTH) fell 3.1%. Is now the time to buy eHealth? Access our full analysis report here, it's free. Gig Economy company Lyft (NASDAQ:LYFT) fell 3.1%. Is now the time to buy Lyft? Access our full analysis report here, it's free. Consumer Subscription company Coursera (NYSE:COUR) fell 3.5%. Is now the time to buy Coursera? Access our full analysis report here, it's free. Online Marketplace company (NYSE:CARS) fell 4.1%. Is now the time to buy Access our full analysis report here, it's free. Video Gaming company Skillz (NYSE:SKLZ) fell 4.3%. Is now the time to buy Skillz? Access our full analysis report here, it's free. Zooming In On Skillz (SKLZ) Skillz's shares are extremely volatile and have had 44 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today's move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business. The previous big move we wrote about was 11 days ago when the stock gained 11.2% on the news that the company reported strong second-quarter 2025 financial results that beat Wall Street's expectations for both revenue and earnings. The mobile gaming platform posted revenue of $27.37 million, an 8.2% increase year-over-year, which surpassed analyst estimates by nearly 20%. A key highlight was the 19.7% growth in paying monthly active users compared to the prior year, reaching 146,000. While the company still recorded a net loss, its GAAP loss per share of $0.58 was significantly better than the loss of $1.34 that analysts had anticipated. The strong top-line and user growth figures suggested that the company's strategies to attract players were gaining traction, but a 9.5% decline in average revenue per user indicated challenges remain in fully monetizing its user base. Skillz is up 61.4% since the beginning of the year, and at $8.60 per share, it is trading close to its 52-week high of $9.09 from August 2025. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Skillz's shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $41.51. Unless you've been living under a rock, it should be obvious by now that generative AI is going to have a huge impact on how large corporations do business. While Nvidia and AMD are trading close to all-time highs, we prefer a lesser-known (but still profitable) semiconductor stock benefiting from the rise of AI. New York City's Newest EV Fleet Is Powered By a Dead Carmaker

For the next few years, New York City will be just about the only place you'll stand a good chance of spotting (and perhaps riding in) a Fisker Ocean, a luxury electric SUV whose manufacturer was once poised to take on Tesla — until it declared bankruptcy in 2024. The city's largest fleet operator, American Lease, acquired about 2,800 unsold Ocean SUVs to lease to ride-hailing drivers, ahead of the 2030 deadline for a mandate requiring all Uber and Lyft rides in NYC to be either wheelchair-accessible or zero-emission. The model has a sleek design and lots of unique features, including a solar roof. But drivers are also dealing with some of the gremlins that helped doom the fledgling automaker, with lights that randomly come on, glitchy gadgets, and gears that can shift into park suddenly. Fixing the Ocean's buggy software has been an ongoing challenge. But at just $16,000 per car — a fraction of the price of a mainstream EV — American Lease said they're willing to take a chance, Raphael Orlove reports. Tesla robotaxi trial impresses, pricing power clear: William Blair

-- Tesla's robotaxi trial in Austin offered a glimpse of the future, with William Blair citing the service's strong pricing power and human-like driving experience. The firm said the demonstration, ahead of the public launch in September, confirmed the company's potential to capture market share with lower-cost autonomous technology. 'Robotaxi was half the price of Uber (NYSE:UBER), demonstrating its ability to win market share by weaponizing price,' William Blair wrote, highlighting Tesla's cost advantage. Analysts noted that the company's autonomous tech stack is roughly one-tenth the cost of Waymo's, giving Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) room to undercut competitors while scaling its dedicated robotaxi fleet. In side-by-side trials, William Blair said the differences between Tesla and Waymo were 'immediate and stark.' The note described Tesla's service as comfortable and familiar, with driving that 'felt as though a friendly ghost chauffeur was driving our personal car.' 'Driving was smooth and human-like, recognizing and patiently waiting for pedestrians, switching into less crowded lanes, patiently waiting to execute a safe unprotected turn, and yet, discerning and confident enough to drive through a light that just turned yellow, so as not to slam on the brakes,' said William Blair. They added that Waymo, while safe, was 'more…robotic,' with audible spinning lidar sensors and mandatory safety briefings. William Blair projected significant long-term value for Tesla's robotaxi business. The note assumes total rideshare miles of 1.1 trillion annually by 2040, with the average price per mile dropping from $2.50 to $1.25. The firm believes Tesla could command a 35% market share versus Waymo at 15%, Uber at 38%, and Lyft (NASDAQ:LYFT) at 13%, generating nearly $250 billion in revenue and achieving EBITDA margins near 60%. The analysts estimated an implied value of $298.61 per share for the robotaxi segment, contributing to a total fair value of $357.43 per share for Tesla.
