NEET PG 2025: Exam postponed; new dates for city slip and admit card to be announced soon
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially postponed the NEET-PG 2025 examination, originally scheduled for June 15, 2025. The decision follows a Supreme Court order to conduct the exam in a single shift. Once declared, candidates will be able to access the city slip and admit card through the official website natboard.edu.in.
'As stated in NBEMS notice dated 02.06.2025, the NEET-PG 2025 scheduled to be held on 15.06.2025 needs to be postponed to arrange for more test centers and required infrastructure', reads the official notification.
The NBEMS had earlier planned to issue the city intimation slip on June 2, 2025, but the postponement has now pushed back the release of fresh dates for the city slip, admit card, and the examination itself.
As per a report by Times of India, following the examination, candidates who qualify will move on to the counselling phase for admission into MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will oversee the counselling process for 50% of the All India Quota (AIQ) seats, while the rest will be managed by the respective state counselling authorities.

The Supreme Court has permitted the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to conduct the NEET-PG 2025 examination on August 3, in a single shift, following a plea from the board seeking rescheduling in line with the Court's directions for uniformity and fairness. The decision comes after the NBEMS was directed by the apex court on May 30 to avoid holding the exam in two shifts, citing concerns over 'arbitrariness' and lack of parity in difficulty levels between question papers. Originally scheduled for June 15, the exam will now be conducted from 9 am to 12.30 pm on August 3. The board's request, filed through its counsel, cited logistical constraints in organizing a single-shift exam for over 2.42 lakh candidates nationwide, within the earlier date. The examination is a key qualifying test for postgraduate medical courses across India. The NBEMS explained that it promptly contacted its technology partner, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), after the May 30 Supreme Court directive to explore the feasibility of a single-shift exam on June 15. TCS responded the same day, stating the limited time was insufficient to accommodate the required infrastructural changes. In a follow-up communication on June 2, TCS informed the board that conducting the exam on June 15 in one shift was not viable and proposed August 3 as the earliest feasible alternative. The revised timeline, according to the NBE, allows adequate time to secure more than 1,000 test centers across approximately 250 cities, capable of accommodating over 2.70 lakh candidates, including a buffer.
