Final warning for 40million Brits as major mobile brand to DELETE accounts in days unless users act now
The Korean tech giant has told users to act now before their accounts are deleted.

So, if you haven't used your Samsung account in a while - it's best you do so now.
The phone maker is having a big clear out of its Galaxy user accounts, which are used to access apps such as the Galaxy Store and Samsung's native apps like Health and Galaxy Wearables.
On 31 July, Samsung will delete Galaxy accounts that haven't been accessed in 24 months - or two years.
Samsung has sent emails to users who the company believes have inactive accounts.
The warning message issued to users reads: "Samsung is implementing an inactive Samsung account policy to protect the data of users who have not used their account for an extended period of time.
"Once this policy is implemented Samsung accounts that have not been logged in to or used for twenty-four months will be considered inactive and will be subject to deletion."
It means some mobile users may lose their account data - anything from their step count to apps they paid for.
Once the data has been deleted, it will not be recoverable.
Users need to log into their Samsung Galaxy account just once in the past 24 months - or between now and the 31 July - to save their accounts.
If you're unsure whether your account is at risk, check the email the account is tied to.
Receiving Samsung's warning message likely indicates that your account has been inactive for nearly 24 months and should be logged into if you want it saved.
While Samsung Galaxy accounts can sometimes be tied to a Google account, the Google account will not be affected by the shutdown.
Google announced a similar change in 2023, warning account holders that if their profiles hadn't been accessed in two years then they would be deleted.
Inactive accounts tend to be jackpots for hackers, so it is wise to delete them in order to protect user data.
How to save your Samsung account
Simply log into your Samsung account before 31 July.
This will mark the account as active to Samsung, and spare it from deletion.
Galaxy users who haven't logged in for a while should receive an email from Samsung notifying them of the change.
Though, as 9to5Google noted, that may prove ineffective if the email associated with the account is also inactive.

Przemysław Dębiak, a Polish coder and mind sports champion, narrowly clinched a victory over OpenAI's entrant in the AtCoder World Tour Finals 2025 in Tokyo earlier this month. The elite coder, however, who goes by the online name Psyho, predicts he may be the last human to win the prestigious title given the incredible pace of technological progress. 'That's probable,' said Psyho, 41, who worked at OpenAI before retiring five years ago. 'I would prefer not, mostly because I like these competitions and knowing there's this magical entity that can do it better than me would be a little bit frustrating.' There is an irony, Psyho acknowledged, in the fact that coders have contributed to their own professional demise. 'Before the contest, I tweeted 'live by the sword, die by the sword',' he said. 'I helped developing AI and I would be the one who would be the loser of the match. Although I won, in the end, for now.' The AtCoder euristic division included 11 human participants invited on the basis of world rankings and a coding algorithm designed by OpenAI, which finished in second place, 9.5% behind Psyho's winning score. Sam Altman, OpenAI's CEO, tweeted his congratulations. The 10-hour contest involves solving a complex optimisation problem. A classic in the genre is the 'travelling salesman problem', where the salesman needs to figure out the shortest possible route between various cities, each visited once. These problems are simple to state, but finding an optimal solution is computationally very complex. So while ChatGPT is now routinely used to write boilerplate code, the AI's performance on an open-ended logic problem will be viewed as impressive. 'At the current state, humans – top humans, to be clear – are still much better at reasoning and solving complex problems,' said Psyho. But humans are 'bottlenecked' by how quickly they can type code, while an AI can try out lots of small adjustments very rapidly. 'The model is like cloning a single human multiple times and working in parallel,' he said. 'AI might not be the smartest right now but it's definitely the fastest. And sometimes multiplying a single average person many many times produces a better result than a single, special human being.' The result comes as major tech companies, including Meta and Microsoft, are turning to AI to write software code. The Anthropic CEO, Dario Amodei, said in May that AI could take 20% of white-collar jobs in the next one to five years. 'Every profession has this right now, more or less,' said Psyho. 'Some people have it coming right now – all of the white collar jobs. For manual jobs, robotics is lagging by several years.' Like many in the industry, Psyho is ambivalent about the potential impact of ever more powerful AI models. 'We have a tonne of issues,' he said. 'Disinformation, social impact, humans not having a purpose in life. Historically society moves at a very slow pace. Technological progress right now is moving at a faster and faster and faster pace.'

How nine families in Silicon Valley have total wealth of $638B
Silicon Valley is the epicenter of America's tech hub, attracting many of the world's richest individuals and generating an estimated wealth of $638 billion. But now it has emerged that the eye-watering sum is shared between just nine families. And a new study conducted by San Jose State University concluded that the city's wealthiest households are only gaining wealth. Their collective net worth was up by a staggering $136 billion from 2024, according to the recent data. The annual report, titled the Silicon Valley Pain Index,is designed to measure 'personal and community distress' through data tracking structural inequalities in the region. Silicon Valley refers to the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area, including Santa Clara, San Mateo, the western edge of Alameda, and Scotts Valley in Santa Cruz. It represents a high concentration of wealth and can be an increasingly difficult place for working and middle-class families to make ends meet. Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg is among the ritzy residents, accounting for $253.5 billion of the area's wealth. Zuckerberg's net worth is more than 20 times the wealth of the bottom 446,505 households in the area. The Meta CEO purchased a five-house compound in the area, estimated to be worth a whopping $37million. He bought a $7 million mansion in 2011 before buying the neighboring residences to create the compound. The report also estimates that the region has $1.01 trillion of liquid wealth. Three companies based in Silicon Valley - Adobe, Alphabet (Google), and Meta comprise a combined net worth of $535 billion. Even outside of the nine wealthiest families, the annual income needed to afford just a median-priced house is $370,000, up 54 percent in the last six years, according to the report. The report also found that renters need to have an average annual income of $136,532 to afford an apartment at 30 percent of their take-home pay, representing the highest rents in the country. In San Mateo County, a household annual income of $156,650 for a family of four is considered 'low, ' compared to the state average of $94,500. Nearly 71 percent of homes sold in the area were priced around 1.92 million and were considered the 'median home price.' The median home price in Santa Clara alone was 2.171 million in May, which is a 3.4 percent increase from last year. The study doesn't explicitly state the nine families contributing to the mass concentration of wealth in addition to Zuckerberg, but listed Google's former CEO, Larry Page, as the second richest billionaire in the area. Sergey Brin , who co-founded Google with Page and served as the president of Alphabet, is the third-wealthiest billionaire in the region. Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, an artificial intelligence company, comes in fourth. Page and Zuckerberg live in Palo Alto, while Brin and Huang have properties in Los Altos Hills. Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt is listed as the fifth-wealthiest billionaire in the region, with Dustin Moskovitz of Facebook as the sixth. Financier George Roberts was listed seventh, while Laurence Powell Jobs of Apple came in eighth. Venture capitalist John Doerr came in ninth, and Charles Schwab of Charles Schwab brokerage ranked tenth. Silicon Valley is home to major enterprises including Apple, Alphabet, Chevron, Meta, Visa, and Wells Fargo. The companies employ a significant portion of residents in the region, leading to the high concentration of wealth from executives and engineers reporting high incomes. The success of these companies has solidified Silicon Valley as a wealthy enclave and the tech capital of the world, but the region has a long history of advancement. The silicon chip, which is used in computerized machinery, was invented in the region, and electronics reporter Dan Hoefler coined the name 'Silicon Valley' in 1971. Since then, the area has grown wealthier and wealthier, and is now home to the world's richest billionaires.
