Johor Bahru road rage suspect arrested after reckless driving incident
JOHOR BAHRU: Authorities have detained a man linked to a road rage incident involving reckless driving and vehicle damage at Susur 6, Jalan Tun Razak. The altercation, which escalated into a collision, resulted in RM15,300 in damages.
Johor Bahru Selatan police chief ACP Raub Selamat confirmed the arrest, stating the clash began when the 50-year-old suspect, driving a Toyota Hilux, aggressively overtook a 63-year-old motorist in a Perodua Axia. The victim had reportedly slowed down after missing a turn, triggering the confrontation.
'An exchange of words is believed to have taken place between both parties before the suspect rammed the victim's car three times,' Raub said.
Investigations revealed the suspect has seven prior criminal records.
The case falls under Section 427 (mischief) and Section 279 (reckless driving) of the Penal Code, alongside Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

They were charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which is punishable by a maximum jail term of 20 years, a fine of up to RM50,000, or both, upon conviction. The court allowed their release on bail of RM20,000 each with the additional conditions that they report to the nearest police station every month and are prohibited from approaching or disturbing the victim until the case concludes. The court fixed July 17 for mention. Melaka couple remanded over death of disabled 9-year-old girl
MELAKA: The mother and stepfather of a nine-year-old girl, who died from alleged physical abuse at her home in Taman Kota Laksamana here, have been remanded for seven days to assist investigations. The remand order until Monday (June 30) was issued by Magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleiman at the Magistrate's Court in Ayer Keroh here to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Earlier on Tuesday (June 24), the husband and wife, aged 38 and 36 respectively, arrived at the court compound in a police vehicle. They wore orange lock-up attire. ALSO READ: Nine-year-old girl dies from alleged abuse in Melaka It is understood that the victim, the second of three siblings, was physically disabled and unable to walk. On Monday (June 23), Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit told the media that the incident came to light that morning after police received a call from a doctor at a private hospital here. The doctor informed police of suspected signs of abuse after the child was brought in for treatment by her stepfather, a restaurant assistant. The medical officer discovered that the victim had a broken leg, as well as bruises on her head and body. The victim died in the hospital's emergency ward at 9.45am on Monday.

Pickup truck driver held for ramming car in road rage incident
JOHOR BARU: A 50-year-old man was arrested for allegedly ramming into another motorist's vehicle three times in a road rage incident here on Sunday. Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the case was being investigated for mischief and reckless driving. "Initial investigations found that the 63-year-old male victim was driving a Perodua Axia when he slowed down after missing a junction. "The suspect, who was driving a Toyota Hilux, overtook the victim aggressively and stopped his vehicle, which led to a quarrel between them at Susur 6, Jalan Tun Razak here. "The suspect then rammed into the victim's car three times, causing damage estimated at RM15,300," he said in a statement today. A 19-second video of the incident, which occurred at 3.10pm, has since gone viral on social media. It shows the four-wheel drive reversing into the Perodua Axia several times before speeding off. Checks revealed that the suspect had seven prior convictions but was not currently wanted for any offence. A urine test returned negative for drug use. Raub added that the suspect will be brought to the Johor Baru magistrate's court on June 24 for a remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief, which carries a jail term of up to five years, a fine, or both upon conviction. It is also being investigated under Section 279 of the Penal Code and Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. "Johor Baru South police will not compromise on any form of reckless driving. Stern action will be taken against anyone who endangers other road users," Raub said.
