Graft allegation against Munde: ACB calls Damania for inquiry
Mumbai: The ACB has called social activist Anjali Damania for an inquiry in connection with her complaint against
leader and former cabinet minister Dhananjay Munde, said officials on Tuesday.

Damania on Monday received a letter from the ACB in which she has been asked to remain present before the anti-graft agency's officials within two days, said an official.
She had levelled allegations of corruption in the agriculture department when Munde held the portfolio during previous Mahayuti coalition government.
In the ACB's letter, the activist has been asked to appear before its personnel with documents pertaining to the complaint against Munde.
Damania shared the letter in a post on her X handle late on Monday and mentioned that she will go to the ACB office to present her case on Wednesday.
Earlier this year, Damania alleged a Rs 88 crore scam in the agriculture department when Munde held the portfolio in the previous Mahayuti government.
Despite the Union govt's 2016 directive to transfer money directly to farmers' bank accounts under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the agriculture department purchased equipment and fertilisers for distribution to farmers at inflated rates, she claimed.
Munde had dismissed Damania's allegations as "baseless and ridiculous".
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, environment minister and BJP leader Pankaja Munde said she was ready to face problems if the people are with her, while referring to the exile of Pandavas and noting that righteous people inevitably experience hardships in their lives. A highlight of the occasion was the first public appearance of NCP leader and Pankaja's embattled cousin Dhananjay Munde after months of political slugfest.

Six interstate drug peddlers held in H'bag
1 2 Hazaribag: A total of six drug peddlers were arrested with 15 kg opium valued at Rs 1.5 crore. Contraband, including 28.57 kg raw materials, three motorcycles, six mobile phones, and Rs 66,000 were seized, SP Anjani Anjan said on Thursday. SP Anjani said, "A team led by Hazaribag (headquarters) SDPO Amit Kumar Anand conducted searches at Lohsinghna, Korrah, and Sadar police station areas. Four smugglers were held from Lohsinghna. They were identified as Pintu Kumar Dangi (25) and Mukul Dangi (28), both residents of Bariatu village under Chatra (Sadar), besides Avinash Kumar (19) and Rahul Pandey (21), both residing in Giddor of Chatra district. Mukul had a criminal record at Ghaziabad police station under the NDPS Act. Avinash and Rahul had six criminal cases against them." "In Korrah, 2.5 kg opium, materials for making opium doda weighing 21.7gm, and Rs 66,000 in cash were confiscated. The arrested were identified as Rahul Yadav (23) and Mohammed Arshad Ansari of Thotwa village under Katkamsandi police station limits. Rahul Yadav belonged to Kendua in Chatra," he added. The SP further said, "From Lohsinghna, 10.8 kg opium and doda valued at 6.67 lakh were seized." Preliminary probe found that the consignment was being transported from Chatra to across the country, police said.

At an estimated cost of over ₹ 43,000 crore, the USBRL project involved laying out ballastless tracks over bridges and tunnels, spanning deep gorges. Ninety per cent of the route was traversed over 943 bridges and 36 main tunnels, including India's longest railway tunnel, T-50, which stretched more than 12.7 km. Also, on the Katra-Banihal section, the Vande Bharat train will also traverse another engineering marvel: the Anji Khad bridge, India's first cable-stayed bridge. Supported by 96 cables, the 725-meter-long bridge stands 331 meters above mean sea level.
