Envoys of six countries present credentials to President Murmu, including Bangladesh and Turkey

New Delhi [India], May 29 (ANI): President Droupadi Murmu accepted the credentials of Ambassadors and High Commissioners of six countries at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday, the President's Secretariat said in a statement.
As per the statement, the President accepted credentials from the Ambassadors/High Commissioners of Thailand, Costa Rica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Turkey, Bangladesh and Kazakhstan at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
They are-- Chavanart Thangsumphant, Ambassador of Thailand; Nestor Gabriel Baltodano Vargas, Ambassador of the Republic of Costa Rica; Gurdip Bath, High Commissioner of Saint Kitts and Nevis; Ali Murat Ersoy, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye; M Riaz Hamidullah, High Commissioner of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Azamat Yeskaraev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Ready to push for peace ahead of talks with Trump, says Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr zelenskyy said on Monday he was ready to work to end the war with Russia ahead of talks with US President Donald Trump in Washington where he could face pressure to accept terms favorable to Moscow. "Russia can only be forced into peace through strength, and President Trump has that strength," Zelenskyy wrote on social media after meeting with the US special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg. Zelenskyy is due to meet with Trump at 1:15 p.m. EDT (1715 GMT) in the Oval Office, where he last received a dressing-down from Trump during a disastrous visit in February. Trump is now pressing for a quick end to Europe's deadliest war in 80 years, and Kyiv and its allies worry he could seek to force an agreement on Russia's terms after the president rolled out the red carpet for Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday. Russian attacks overnight on Ukrainian cities killed at least 10 people, in what zelenskyy called a "cynical" effort to undermine talks. European leaders are also flying to Washington to show solidarity with Ukraine and to press for strong security guarantees in any post-war settlement. After meeting zelenskyy, Trump will meet the leaders of Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Finland, the European Union and NATO in the White House's East Room at 3 p.m. EDT (1900 GMT), the White House said. “I know exactly what I am doing, and I don't need the advice of people who have been working on all of these conflicts for years, and were never able to do a thing to stop them," Trump wrote on social media. Myanmar military announces Dec 28 elections amid boycott by opposition
Yangon [Myanmar], August 18 (ANI): Myanmar's military government has announced that long-promised elections will begin on December 28 amid widespread scepticism that authorities will allow a free and fair vote, Al Jazeera Union Election Commission said on Monday that the vote would be the first phase in 'step-by-step" general elections.'Further dates for the subsequent steps of the elections will be announced accordingly," the election commission said, according to Al media reported that some 55 parties had registered for the polls, including nine that would compete for seats nationwide, Al Jazeera announcement comes after Myanmar's military administration, led by Min Aung Hlaing, last month declared the end of a state of emergency for parts of the country in preparation for elections in December and Aung Hlaing's administration imposed emergency rule on Myanmar after removing Aung San Suu Kyi's democratically elected government in a 2021 coup, Al Jazeera groups, including Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy, have pledged to boycott the elections, viewing them as a sham aimed at buttressing Min Aung Hlaing's hold on has been racked by civil war since the coup, with large swaths of the country controlled by various rebel groups, including the People's Defence Force, the Arakan Army, and the Ta'ang National Liberation Army, Al Jazeera Southeast Asian country last held elections in November 2020.
