Fruit Attraction 2025 reaches 90% occupancy and reaffirms world leadership
So far, 70,000 m² of exhibition space has been allocated, representing an 8% increase compared to the same period last year. Organisers are expecting more than 2,500 exhibiting companies and over 120,000 professionals from 150 countries to attend.
Fruit Attraction 2025 marks a significant milestone in its history by establishing itself as one of the world's leading trade fairs for the fruit and vegetable sector. In addition, it reinforces its leadership with a strategic expansion and a new sectorisation that will optimise the exhibitor and visitor experience. This year it will occupy 10 halls - 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 and 14 - making Madrid the world epicentre of fresh produce marketing.
Odd-numbered halls will showcase the new products and features of Spanish companies, in addition to the proposals of the Innova&Tech area in Hall 5-. Eve n-numbered halls will feature international participation: Halls 4,6 and 8 will host European companies, Halls 8 and 10 will welcome global players, Hall 12 will focus on the Americas, and Hall 14 will be dedicated to companies from Africa and Asia. The Fresh Food Logistics area will be located in hall 4. Additionally, most of the halls will include an Auxiliary Industry area, ensuring full representation of the value chain at Fruit Attraction.
On the other hand, the tomato has been selected as the star product of Fruit Attraction 2025. A series of themed activities will highlight this key crop, which remains the most consumed vegetable in Spain and a major economic driver for the sector.
In addition, this year's edition will give specific visibility to organic products, with differentiated actions to highlight the stands that present this type of product at Fruit Attraction.
The renowned International Buyers Programme will return, further strengthened by the Guest Importing Countries initiative. This year, Mexico and Malaysia will be in the spotlight, promoting new commercial opportunities with their respective markets.
For the second time, Fruit Attraction will be awarding the Best Stand Awards. An award that will recognise those exhibition spaces that stand out at the trade fair for their creativity, design and commitment to sustainability in its four categories: Most Original Stand, Best Design, Most Sustainable Stand, and the People's Choice Award for Best Stand overall.
Innovation will once again take centre stage through the Innovation Hub Awards, recognising the best project, product or service in terms of innovation, sustainability, technology application and knowledge. All the applications submitted will be exhibited in the Innovation Hub area -connecting area of halls 4 and 6-, throughout the three days of the event
Fruit Attraction will once again become the centre of knowledge through its different Forums, which will host a full programme of technical seminars made up of sessions characterised by the great diversity of content, as well as the high level of the participants and speakers. Among others, Fruit Attraction will host the Grape Attraction congress, Biofruit Congress and Fresh Food Logistics The Summit.

Rolling cancellations now extend to the afternoon of August 17, 2025 MONTRÉAL, August 16, 2025 /CNW/ - Air Canada today said all flights of Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge remain suspended pending the outcome of a Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) process related to a directive by the Government of Canada ordering binding arbitration in the company's contract negotiations with its flight attendants. Customers whose flights are cancelled are being notified of the cancellations and offered options that include a full refund, a future travel credit or rebooking on another airline. Those whose flights are cancelled are strongly advised not to go to the airport unless they have a confirmed booking on a flight by another carrier. In response to a labour disruption by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) that led to a strike on August 16, Air Canada has been cancelling flights on a rolling basis. At present, all flights by Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge are cancelled until the afternoon (EDT) of August 17, 2025. GATINEAU, QC, Aug. 16, 2025 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario, issued the following statement regarding the collective bargaining negotiations between Air Canada and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE): "After eight months of negotiations by the parties, and after meeting with both parties last night and urging them to work hard to reach a deal, it is disappointing to have to conclude today that Air Canada and CUPE flight attendants are at an impasse and remain unable to resolve their dispute. The government firmly believes that the best deals are reached by the parties at the bargaining table. It has now become clear that this dispute won't be resolved at the table. Canadians are increasingly finding themselves in very difficult situations and the strike is rapidly impacting the Canadian economy. Flight attendants play a critical role in keeping Canadian families and workers safe as they travel. It is important that they be compensated fairly at all times. The enormous impact of a nationwide labour disruption of this scale is already being felt by Canadians and visitors to our country. This impact will grow significantly with a prolonged dispute. This nationwide labour disruption is impeding the movement of passengers and critical cargo. In a year in which Canadian families and businesses have already experienced too much disruption and uncertainty, this is not the time to add additional challenges and disruptions to their lives and our economy. Canadians rely on air travel to connect families, workers, and communities to each other and the world. Despite significant supports from the government, these parties have been unable to resolve their differences in a timely manner. The government must act to preserve stability and supply chains in this unique and uncertain economic context. That is why I exercised my authorities under section 107 of the Canada Labour Code to direct the Canada Industrial Relations Board to arbitrate this dispute. I am exercising this authority because it is critical to maintaining and securing industrial peace, protecting Canadians and promoting conditions to resolve the dispute. Despite the parties' resolution of several key differences, the CIRB is best positioned to help them find a solution on the outstanding items. Accordingly, I have asked the Board to assist the parties in reaching a settlement of the outstanding terms of their collective agreement by imposing final and binding arbitration and to extend the terms of the existing collective agreement until a new one is determined by the arbitrator. This decision will help make sure that hundreds of thousands of Canadians and visitors to our country are not impacted because of cancelled flights. Further, the shipments of critical goods such as pharmaceuticals and organ tissue, over 40% of which are moved by Air Canada, should continue to reach their destinations. Once again, I urge the parties to work towards a fair and timely resolution."

Air Canada passengers should avoid YVR unless they've booked another airline
Air Canada passengers are being asked to avoid Vancouver International Airport unless they have a confirmed booking on a different airline. Air Canada mainline operations were suspended at 9:58 p.m. Friday after the airline and CUPE, the union representing Air Canada flight attendants, failed to reach an agreement this week. In a statement Saturday, YVR said Air Canada passengers should not come to the airport unless they have a confirmed itinerary with another airline. Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu is holding a news conference on Parliament Hill today to provide Canadians with an update on the Air Canada flight attendant strike. On Friday, Hajdu urged the airline company and the union representing its flight attendants to get back to the negotiating table. The Air Canada component of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents around 10,000 flight attendants, has said its main sticking points revolve around wages that have been outpaced by inflation during the course of its previous 10-year contract, along with unpaid labour when planes aren't in the air.
