Review: IMOU Doorbell 2S Kit boasts smart tracking and a chime

Video doorbells are all the rage these days and now home security specialist IMOU has again entered the fray with the launch of its Doorbell 2S Kit. It includes everything you'd expect but with a couple of features that make it stick out from the crowd.
The kit comes with two devices. First off is a video doorbell with a rotating lens that allows for a 180° field of view. It can cover the entire front of a house while tracking movements closely. The 4:3 aspect ratio is suitable for the corridor in front of the door, capturing head-to-toe images of people and objects.
I found the images to be very decent, but what really impressed me was the infrared night vision mode. This worked brilliantly and was as good as - if not even better - than some of its more expensive rivals.
The doorbell will only show and notify up about important and necessary clips thanks to some clever tech – reducing unwanted notifications and false alarms. It boasts a 0.3 seconds detection time to catch any movements when the doorbell detects someone approaching the door means that users will be informed quickly of any activity. The doorbell also has a loitering detection feature that notifies when people are staying in front of the door after a preset duration.
The second part of the kit is an indoor chime. Yes, you get a chime included. So many times this is, rather frustratingly, an added extra that you have to fork out for. The IMOU chime connects to the doorbell via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and also acts as a Wi-Fi extender as well as offering indoor storage of the SD card, which helps to protect the recording. There are ten different chime ringtones to choose from for event alarms and snooze schedules.
The camera offers the usual two-way talk call functionality you'd expect, but there are a few extra goodies I wasn't expecting. You can record a voice that can be used to scare away an intruder or welcome people with a personalised touch.
You can connect the doorbell to the IMOU app, which allows you to control the device and meddle with the settings. Local storage is free, but a very reasonable subscription of £3.49 a month will give you an automatic cloud back-up.
There is no solar panel but the 5,000mAh rechargeable battery can be recharged by USB-C and, when fully charged, lasts up to 120 days under normal conditions. The doorbell can be used standalone with the rechargeable battery or it can be hardwired for continuous power using the hardwired kit that is included in the box as standard.
For the price, you can't really go wrong. You get a lot for the money, and the inclusjon of the chime gives it an edge in my opinion.

Review: iFi Go Link Max brings you hi-res audio on the move
You've picked up some high-end headphones but you're going to need some extra power to get the best out of them, often more power than your phone or laptop can deliver. This is where the iFi GO Link Max comes in. This mini DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) unlocks the true potential of your playlist, boasting a 4.4mm headphone output and 10x the power of your typical iPhone. Your phone or laptop will have its own DAC, but usually they aren't up to much. The iFi will supercharge the sound they produce and you hear. The GO Link is a little dongle that can attach via USB-C to your device (you also get Lightning and USB-C adapters included), and then you can plug in your headphones via the 3.5mm or 4.4mm inputs. Now this is where we go into audiophile territory. The DAC allows you to enjoy hi-res audio offered by the likes of the Tidal music streaming service. The quality of audio that you're not going to get via your Bluetooth bins. It supports up to PCM 384 kHz and DSD256 natively, letting you enjoy high-fidelity playback directly from your phone or laptop. I must say it works well, being plug-and-play, and you can really tell the difference once you access some hi-res audio. A little LED light on the GO Link lets you know the bit rate of the songs you are listening to. With up to 241 mW balanced output, it can drive most in-ear monitors and some full-sized headphones - but you'll need to do some research first. However, it will improve the sound coming from your any wired headphones. It can't compete against the desktop amps but nor should it at its size and price. A little bigger than a can of soft drink, the Wave Glow is nothing if not portable but it does bely the power of its 10W speakers which can fill out a room. The attached strap also makes it super easy to carry around. PuK Gaming PuK Gaming promises to super-charge your mobile gaming experience with a range of new hardware that you can pick and choose from depending on your style of play. The upgrades are designed to bring console quality controls to mobile gaming, without the need to carry bulky hardware. First off, is the the PuK Thumbstick that, when coupled with a magnetric anchor placed on the rear of the device, can be psotioned anywhere on the screeen where gamers usually find a virtual thumbstick. This is probbaly the stand-out product, it's very cool and works remarkably well. It also comes with a case. The PuK Grips transforms your phone into a proper gaming machine. A wireless keyboard and mouse that are sure to turn some heads! The devices come in a fun lavender and green colour scheme, but that can obscure decent quality for a low price. Both devices connect via just one USB receiver (neatly stored in the mouse), are compatible with Windows and macOS systems, and operate on one AAA and one AA battery.
