Review: IMOU Doorbell 2S Kit boasts smart tracking and a chime
I found the images to be very decent, but what really impressed me was the infrared night vision mode
Video doorbells are all the rage these days and now home security specialist IMOU has again entered the fray with the launch of its Doorbell 2S Kit. It includes everything you'd expect but with a couple of features that make it stick out from the crowd.
The kit comes with two devices. First off is a video doorbell with a rotating lens that allows for a 180° field of view. It can cover the entire front of a house while tracking movements closely. The 4:3 aspect ratio is suitable for the corridor in front of the door, capturing head-to-toe images of people and objects.
I found the images to be very decent, but what really impressed me was the infrared night vision mode. This worked brilliantly and was as good as - if not even better - than some of its more expensive rivals.
The doorbell will only show and notify up about important and necessary clips thanks to some clever tech – reducing unwanted notifications and false alarms. It boasts a 0.3 seconds detection time to catch any movements when the doorbell detects someone approaching the door means that users will be informed quickly of any activity. The doorbell also has a loitering detection feature that notifies when people are staying in front of the door after a preset duration.
The second part of the kit is an indoor chime. Yes, you get a chime included. So many times this is, rather frustratingly, an added extra that you have to fork out for. The IMOU chime connects to the doorbell via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and also acts as a Wi-Fi extender as well as offering indoor storage of the SD card, which helps to protect the recording. There are ten different chime ringtones to choose from for event alarms and snooze schedules.
The camera offers the usual two-way talk call functionality you'd expect, but there are a few extra goodies I wasn't expecting. You can record a voice that can be used to scare away an intruder or welcome people with a personalised touch.
You can connect the doorbell to the IMOU app, which allows you to control the device and meddle with the settings. Local storage is free, but a very reasonable subscription of £3.49 a month will give you an automatic cloud back-up.
There is no solar panel but the 5,000mAh rechargeable battery can be recharged by USB-C and, when fully charged, lasts up to 120 days under normal conditions. The doorbell can be used standalone with the rechargeable battery or it can be hardwired for continuous power using the hardwired kit that is included in the box as standard.
For the price, you can't really go wrong. You get a lot for the money, and the inclusjon of the chime gives it an edge in my opinion.
The IMOU Doorbell 2S Kit is available to buy from Amazon for £64.99.
What users say
"Works great so far. Robust device, charges quickly, battery lasts a good while. Chime is loud. Pan tilt is good, but field of vision is already excellent."
"In summary, a great doorbell, but not always easy to hear in all parts of the house, can't purchase an additional chime, and can't work with Google or Alexa. These are big drawbacks to an otherwise outstanding camera."

SHOPPERS are raving about this uni-friendly tech deal, and it's well worth a look. The top-rated Jumper S7 15.6-inch laptop is now just £230 on Amazon, down from the usual £450. That's a hefty 49% discount on a laptop that packs some serious everyday power. Granted, Jumper might not be a household name, which explains the handful of reviews. But, with a perfect 5-star rating, it's clear it's something of a hidden gem. You get 4GB of high-speed RAM, 128GB storage and a 512GB TF card expansion. That's plenty of room to run multiple programmes without your laptop sounding like it's about to take off. For students, that means jumping between research tabs, lecture slides and last-minute essays without the dreaded lag. Better still, it comes with a one-year pre-installed Office 365 subscription (worth £89.99). That's Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook all included, so you can get stuck into coursework from day one, with no faffing over extra downloads or hidden costs. The 15.6-inch screen is a decent size at this price point; big enough for comfortable working and perfect for streaming your favourite shows after class. One reviewer raves: 'I was a bit sceptical about buying a laptop from a brand I wasn't familiar with, but I'm so glad I took the chance The same shopper continued, "This is a powerhouse for everyday use and an incredible value.' Another parent wrote: 'Gave it to my son for university activities. Speedy and reliable.' At just 3.6 lbs, it's light enough to slip into your tote or backpack without putting your back out. And you won't be tethered to a wall socket either. The 5,000mAh battery typically lasts six to eight hours, so you can work through lectures and still have juice left for Netflix. One shopper summed it up perfectly: 'It is light enough to carry around all day and the battery easily lasts for hours.' It's also kitted out with multi-functional ports, including Type-C, USB 3.0, Mini HDMI, and a headphone jack. Amazon slashes £350 'very quiet' tower fan that's perfect for the heatwave to under £90
The tower fan has been bought more than 1,000 times in the past month, and now, Amazon has slashed 74% off the price, meaning shoppers can save a huge £260 As the UK basks in a heatwave, with temperatures soaring to 30C in parts of Scotland, fans have become a must-have for many households. Handheld fans are ideal for those commuting or travelling, but for those working from home, a tower fan is the perfect solution. Capable of cooling an entire room and safe to leave on overnight, many people are rushing to purchase a new fan to beat the heat. For bargain hunters, Amazon has cut the price of one of their top-selling fans by hundreds of pounds. The Pureborne 36" Smart Tower Fan, usually priced at £349.95, is now available for just £89.99. The tower fan boasts a sleek and slim design, with a base diameter of 32cm and a height of 91cm, making it the perfect size to fit into smaller spaces without causing disruption. It also offers a 90-degree oscillation, ensuring full room coverage. Buyers can select from four speeds and four different modes - normal, natural, sleep and auto. All of these features can be controlled via a remote, an app (compatible with iOS and Android), or through voice control using Alexa or Google Assistant for added convenience. The Pureborne 36" Smart Tower Fan is a dream for those who like to keep cool at night, thanks to its sleep mode. It gradually reduces the wind speed every 30 minutes by two levels, ensuring your slumber isn't disturbed. This means you won't have to drag yourself out of bed in the wee hours to switch off the fan if you're feeling chilly. Another top-rated tower fan on Amazon is the Dimplex Mont Blanc Cooling Fan. Priced at £84, this fan boasts three speed settings and a 78-degree oscillation. Plus, it comes with a handy remote control to adjust the settings to your liking. If you're after something a bit more compact, Argos has the Challenge Mini Tower Fan on offer for just £26. Standing at 14 inches tall, this fan is a breeze to move around your home. It offers a refreshing airflow and three speed options to choose from. Returning to the Pureborne Tower Fan, it's been snapped up over 1,000 times in the past month as shoppers seek relief from the summer heat. Users have given it a stellar 4.6-star rating, with one reviewer hailing it a 'life saver' during the heatwave, reports the Daily Record. One satisfied customer shared: "Extremely pleased with the fan, very quiet plus the bonus of having a sleep timer and an added remote so if used in the bedroom can be turned off without leaving the bed at night, ideal for what we want as it fits in the corner of the bedroom out of the way." Whilst another five-star reviewer penned: "My fan arrived yesterday and was a life saver with the impending heat wave this week. It was easy to put together, looks stylish, is very quiet and cooled the room effectively. It was worth every penny!" Nevertheless, some shoppers did have some complaints about the device. One person said: "Not sure if the one I received was defective or if I'm just overestimating it but regardless. Pretty loud, fairly weak and randomly stops blowing air as it turns...?" Meanwhile another customer gave a mixed review: "The good thing about this fan is it can be controlled by mobile phone or Alexa. But the thing that I don't like is the background noise when it is running." On the other hand, a top reviewer wrote: "The Pureborne 42" Smart Tower Fan is excellent. Stylish, slim design fits perfectly in my bedroom, and it's very quiet - I barely notice it on the lowest setting. Powerful airflow with smooth oscillation cools the whole room quickly. "The remote and app make it effortless to control from bed, and the 4 modes plus 12-hour timer are genuinely useful. Sleep Mode is brilliant - cools me down, then eases off so I don't wake up cold. " Ideal for the warm weather, shoppers can now save hundreds on the Pureborne 36" Smart Tower Fan.
