ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — On Saturday, local communities across the country and southwest Virginia participated in the Drug Enforcement Administration's National Drug Take Back Day.
The initiative is put on twice per year by the DEA, and presents an easy way for people to responsibly dispose of prescription medications.
Roanoke County police were out at numerous collection sites around the area, including both of Lewis Gale Medical Center's free-standing emergency rooms.

They said participating in this event has a two-fold benefit for the community.
'We're trying to get all this unwanted medication, unneeded medication, expired medication,' said Sgt. Dan Walters with the Roanoke County Police Department. 'We're trying to get those out of the household so that number one they're not being abused by anybody. 'Number two, we want to make sure we get it disposed of properly to make sure we keep our environment clean and safe.'
At the end of collection, Roanoke County turned everything over to the DEA, which ultimately incinerates it.

AG's across states urge ban on deadly drug called ‘designer Xanax'

(WBRE/WYOU) — Attorney General Dave Sunday joined a coalition calling on the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to take action on the ban of a drug linked to deaths in Pennsylvania and across the country. In a letter to DEA Administrator Terry Cole, 21 Attorneys General issued a warning on bromazolam, a dangerous and unregulated designer drug often referred to as 'designer Xanax.' According to the release, the synthetic drug is 'highly potent and unpredictable, especially when mixed with opioids.' 'Designer' benzodiazepines, such as bromazolam, appeared in Pennsylvania starting in 2022, when they were part of 59 overdose deaths, with bromazolam most commonly found, AG Sunday stated. That figure nearly tripled a year later, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Authorities noted that Narcan is ineffective against the drug in overdose emergencies. 'It is a race to stay ahead of drug traffickers when dealing with synthetic drugs, and lives depend on immediate action that will give law enforcement the tools to proactively target traffickers. This substance has no legitimate purpose and is becoming far too common in Pennsylvania and across the nation.' Attorney General Dave Sunday Authorities reported that some drug traffickers selling bromazolam are incorrectly labeling the drug as 'legal prescription drugs' or they may be adding bromazolam to other drugs, including fentanyl, other opioids, or methamphetamine. Attorney General Sunday joined the Kentucky-led letter along with Attorneys General from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. Understanding the Legal Aspects of GBL Kaufen

In recent years, there has been a growing conversation around Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL) and its legal status across different regions. For many people who come across the term gbl Kaufen, which translates to 'buying GBL' in German the question is not just about where to get it, but more importantly, whether it is legal, safe, or regulated in their country. This blog will explore the legal aspects surrounding GBL, why its use is controversial, and what potential buyers need to know before making decisions. By the end, you should have a clear understanding of the complexities behind gbl Kaufen and the risks tied to it. Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL) is a chemical solvent often used in industrial cleaning, paint stripping, and other manufacturing processes. Beyond its industrial utility, GBL is known for being a precursor to Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), a substance that is tightly controlled in many countries due to its effects on the central nervous system. When ingested, GBL is converted into GHB in the body. This is why legal authorities across Europe, the United States, and other regions are cautious about the substance. In small doses, it can have sedative effects, but in larger amounts, it can be dangerous and even life-threatening. The phrase gbl Kaufen has become common online, especially on forums, marketplaces, and discussion boards. People often search for it when looking to buy GBL for either industrial or personal use. However, the legal interpretation of 'buying GBL' depends heavily on where you live. In Germany and many EU countries, purchasing GBL without a proper license or industrial justification can lead to legal trouble. Authorities view unregulated possession as suspicious, often assuming the intent is to use it for recreational or illegal purposes. This is why understanding the phrase gbl Kaufen goes beyond translation, it's about knowing the risks and responsibilities attached to the purchase. The legality of GBL varies significantly across different countries: In Germany, GBL is considered a controlled substance due to its ability to convert into GHB. Purchasing it without authorization is strictly prohibited. If you search for gbl Kaufen in Germany, you'll likely come across warnings and regulatory information instead of legitimate sources. Businesses may apply for licenses, but private individuals face strict penalties. In the UK, GBL is classified as a Class C drug when intended for human consumption. However, it is still legal to sell for legitimate industrial uses. Sellers must ensure that their products are not misused. In the United States, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulates GBL under the Controlled Substances Act. Like in the UK, it can be sold for industrial purposes, but personal or recreational use is illegal. Possession without legitimate reasoning may result in legal action. Across most EU countries, the same pattern emerges: industrial use may be permitted under strict regulation, but private possession is criminalized. Anyone searching for gbl Kaufen without an industrial license risks facing prosecution. You might wonder why something that is technically a cleaning solvent is so tightly controlled. The main reason is its connection to GHB. Recreational misuse of GHB has led to severe health issues, overdoses, and criminal cases involving drug-facilitated crimes. Regulators worldwide recognize that unrestricted gbl Kaufen could encourage illegal use. To prevent this, governments have put strict monitoring systems in place. While industries can continue to use GBL under licenses, private individuals cannot easily access it without raising red flags. Apart from the legal risks, health concerns are another major reason why gbl Kaufen is not straightforward. GBL ingestion can cause: Drowsiness and loss of consciousness Respiratory depression Nausea and vomiting Seizures in severe cases Risk of overdose, especially when mixed with alcohol or other drugs This makes the personal use of GBL highly risky, which is why laws around it exist in the first place. Even in industrial environments, strict safety protocols are required to prevent accidental exposure. If you are researching gbl Kaufen, there are a few key points you must keep in mind: Licensing is critical : Only licensed businesses are permitted to buy and sell GBL legally. : Only licensed businesses are permitted to buy and sell GBL legally. Authorities monitor sales : Online sales are closely tracked, and suspicious purchases can lead to investigations. : Online sales are closely tracked, and suspicious purchases can lead to investigations. Penalties are severe : Depending on the country, unlicensed possession could mean fines, imprisonment, or both. : Depending on the country, unlicensed possession could mean fines, imprisonment, or both. Industrial justification is required: Buyers must prove legitimate use in areas like cleaning, paint stripping, or chemical processing. Because GBL is available online, many people mistakenly believe that it is legal everywhere. Here are a few misconceptions: 'If it's sold online, it must be legal.' Not necessarily. Many websites operate in legal grey areas or from countries with weaker regulations. Ordering from these sources could still result in customs seizures and legal trouble. Not necessarily. In most jurisdictions, possession of even small amounts without a license is illegal. In most jurisdictions, possession of even small amounts without a license is illegal. 'It's just a cleaning solvent.' While true in industrial contexts, the law focuses on potential misuse rather than the label on the bottle. Understanding these misconceptions is crucial before typing gbl Kaufen into a search engine and considering a purchase. For businesses, alternatives to GBL exist and are often safer to handle. Depending on your industry, substitutes like acetone, isopropyl alcohol, or other cleaning solvents may serve your purpose without the legal risks. Many suppliers now market GBL-free solutions precisely because regulations make procurement difficult. If you're a company considering gbl Kaufen, exploring these alternatives could save you legal headaches and ensure compliance with local regulations. When it comes to controlled substances like GBL, seeking professional legal guidance is always a wise step. If your business genuinely requires GBL for industrial purposes, consulting with a lawyer can help you navigate licensing requirements and avoid costly mistakes. Individuals, on the other hand, should recognize that attempting to buy GBL without legitimate need is not worth the risk. Between potential health dangers and legal consequences, the risks far outweigh any short-term benefits. The topic of gbl Kaufen is not as simple as typing a phrase into a search engine and clicking 'buy.' It's layered with legal restrictions, health warnings, and ethical considerations. While GBL has industrial importance, its misuse has prompted global regulation, making private purchase highly risky. If you are in an industry that requires GBL, ensure you comply with licensing laws and prioritize safety protocols. For individuals, the message is clear: the potential dangers and legal repercussions make gbl Kaufen a path best avoided. By understanding the legal aspects surrounding GBL, you can make informed decisions, protect your safety, and avoid falling into legal pitfalls. In the end, knowledge and compliance remain your strongest safeguards. TIME BUSINESS NEWS

Iowa attorney general signs letter calling on DEA to ban ‘designer Xanax'

(Photo by Aaron Sanderford/Nebraska Examiner) Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is calling on the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in a joint letter to take emergency action to schedule a drug that has been linked to deaths in the state and across the country. Bromazolam is described in the letter penned by Sunday and 20 other state attorneys general as a 'designer Xanax.' The prosecutors say the drug is increasingly contributing to overdose deaths and posing a growing threat to public health. It is also highly potent and unpredictable, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday's office wrote, especially when mixed with opioids. Narcan, which is used to reverse an overdose, is ineffective against the drug in such emergencies. Bromazolam is unscheduled under the federal Controlled Substances Act. 'Despite its clear dangers, bromazolam remains unscheduled at the federal level, creating significant challenges for law enforcement and public health officials trying to respond to this emerging crisis,' the attorneys generals wrote. 'Without scheduling, this drug continues to evade traditional regulatory and prosecutorial tools, hindering interdiction efforts and enabling continued distribution through illicit channels.' 'Taking emergency action to schedule bromazolam will help law enforcement remove it from circulation, give prosecutors the tools to hold traffickers accountable, and send a clear signal that this dangerous substance has no place on our streets,' the attorneys general wrote. 'Bromazolam, or 'Designer Xanax' is a lethal, counterfeit drug with no medical use that is highly addictive and killing Americans,' Bird said in a statement. 'It is already an illegal drug in Iowa, and I strongly urge the DEA to take swift and definite action at the federal level to give law enforcement the tools they need to stop this crisis, save lives, and hold traffickers accountable.'
